I'm thinking of going to the Oneup. This Fox should not be this bad.

I've yet to describe a fox product as excellent, good or ok maybe but theres other brands I use:unsure:

I have a few fox transfer droppers, not in bikes but in emergancy spares (wrong sizes for my bikes so redundant & I dont like their tendancy to 'stick')

we do have 4 x Oneup v2 dropper posts in the eeeb's we ride:cool:

Couple of packages arrived today from Germany. 90 euro postage on the two combined is still cheaper than buying here, plus they are in stock. Geoblocking brands to Australia also inflates prices locally. Sad its this way but stock unavailability, limited range, inflated prices, unrealistic time frames and substandard service means its just easier and cheaper sourcing your own parts overseas.

New TRP EVO PRO brakes, I persevered with the MT7's on the Amflow, switched to new pads which made them pretty good but the lever pull weight and total braking power has had me looking elsewhere. Hoping these bad boys are going to make steep gravity trails a bit more confidence inspiring to ride.

New DT 240 OS (Oversize) and new DT Comps for the Podium fork. The set of carbon wheels I was running had normal DT240 boost which does not accommodate a 20mm axle. Been running a front Nukeproof wheel for a few weeks while waiting on the new hub and spokes, contemplated just ordering a replacement carbon rim and building a new wheel but it will only end up another wheel hanging on the wall.

Remember to make the bedding well and you will immediately get good and effective brakes.

After a couple hundred miles of riding I think I finally figured out how I want this thing set up.

  1. Replaced stock Continentals with Schwalbe radials
  2. Zeb front fender
  3. Fidlock bottle
  4. Oneup pump and toolkit
  5. Race Face Atlas pedals
  6. Oneup green fat grips (with matching dropper post lever insert )
  7. Freedom Coast horizontal AXS pod clamp
  8. Installed the Maven B1 upgrade kit.
  9. Replaced the stock saddle with Specialized Power Evo.
  10. Removed both Avinox control pods. I found myself never almost using them and I like a clean cockpit. I can access everything from the touch screen except walk mode.

Prepared my Merida e-One Sixty 9000 (in red and black) for transfer to my grandson tomorrow
  • Washed, dried, lubed.
  • Rims and fork lowers polished with Muc Off Silicon Shine.
  • Mech adjusted, shifting reset.
  • MTB Rocket saddle removed and the original unused Merida saddle refitted (with allen key pack under the saddle). I HATE fitting saddles! I never have enough hands and my fingers are too big as well).
  • Ergon grips removed and replaced with some no-name grips that have red lock-on collars.
  • While the grips were off I removed my Oi deluxe bell.
  • Removed my Halfords rear light. He says it's an old man thing. Cheeky git!"
  • Replaced my well worn black DMR Vaux pedals with less worn red DMR V12 pedals.
Tuesday, I collect my new bike Santa Cruz Vala 90!

Not what I've done, yet.. But ordered this for my kado which should be coming next week, super excited to replace the crappy rear shock, even got chatgpt to do a mock up of what it will look like when on lol, will increase my rear travel from 150mm to 163mm too which will be nice

Replaced the maxxis crappegai last week with a magic Mary radial gravity pro ultra soft, finally have good grip in damp loam and soggy roots, love it. Fine the minion DHR rear for now but that will be getting replaced with an albert when the time comes

Already preparing for next month got my eyes on a 170mm air shaft for the zeb and some SKF seals, toying with the idea of getting the charger 3.1 damper at the same time and lobbing that in whilst I've got the forks stripped down

@OffitThatM8 do you not fancy a Vorsprung Smashpot in the Zeb if your going coil on the rear?

Today's tinkering for me was sanding and cleaning rotors, installing some ceramic pads and then doing a few blasts up and down my lane to bed them in.

The 155mm Pinnd cranks I put on yesterday felt good too. Will properly test them tomorrow though.

I've thought about those but the kados already a heavy bike, the coil shock I'm fitting is about 500grams more than air shock and the smash pots are about the same no? So that would be a whole kg added, I still care about battery range so will be looking to reduce some weight in future, SLS spring, Newman wheelset etc.

I do like coil forks but the zebs aren't super terrible like the stock kado rear shock is, it's fine bimbling about but struggles on long chunky enduro descents and the coil shock was a bargain 65% off which is why I went for it over an air equivalent

Why will it change the rear travel? or have you just got a longer travel shock?

Stock shock is 57.5mm stroke length new shock is 62.5mm stroke length so with the leverage curve it comes out to 13mm more travel over the stock shock, can shim it down to 57.5 but the kado frame has space for 62.5mm stroke so will take the extra travel

But will the linkage system allow that extra movement? Will the wheel hit the seat tube? Will the linkage overextend?
What I'm saying is, just because there is extra shock stroke doesn't necessarily give you extra travel.

Yes, no and no.

Based on measured clearances, linkage kinematics and a leverage ratio of circa 2.4:1, in theory it should be fine and still leave a bit of spare room to play with.

I’ll obviously still be cycling it by hand and taking proper measurements once fitted so other Kado owners have some actual data to reference.

This isn’t my first time playing with suspension 🫡

On my and my wife's 2022 Trek Rails (alloy) fitted parts bought when 'on offer':
  1. DT Swiss HXC 1501 6 bolt 29" wheels - rears with Microspline, fronts with DT Swiss Torque Caps.
  2. Shimano XTR 10-51 cassettes and XTR chains.
  3. Hope chain rings (replaced lockrings).
  4. Cleaned Swissstop Catalyst Pro 220mm 6 bolt rotors, fitted Swissstop Disc 27 RS pads.
  5. Did one gravity bleed (Shimano M6120 brakes) and fluid was clear so did top bleeds instead.
  6. Swapped tyres over (Maxxis Assegai/DHR2 DD).
  7. Cleaned jockeys.
  8. Broke the pads in dodging the showers - one minute was clear blue sky the next minute heavy rain.
Knackered.

I’ve worked with a number of people who designed packaging for products; and I’ve always been impressed by what I call these “cardboard engineers.” So I was inspired by the perfect size box lying around and got my cardboard engineer hat on, and made a drip tray for when I lube my chain.

I replaced some parts: new deore derailleur, unfortunately xt didn’t survive the beating anymore. And while I was working on the bike, I installed Ochain chainring, I’m curious to see if it really makes a difference, especially on long descends.

Took my Kado for its first trip to Forest of Dean on Tuesday, blew my mind how many laps I could do and how much fun I could have as well as how quickly I could get from bottom back to top.

Then stayed in Forest of Dean for Wednesday to race in the Army Cycling Enduro Series for my first enduro on an e-bike

Crashed hard! But scored a top 20 in the overall and a midfield finish in the e-bike category

Next weekend it’s off to Minehead to race at my first Southern Enduro.

Great choice! I put a Super Deluxe Coil on my Kado straight out of the box.

You’re probably going to struggle to get a bottle in once you’ve fitted it though as the reservoir gets in the way.

My frame is a size large, I got around it by flipping the standard Fidlock bottle mount on the frame around 180° then flipping the mount on the bottle 180° to keep the polarities the same.

And now Fidlock make a 500ml chubby bottle that fits perfectly in the frame so I use that

Almost there...

Instead of falling into all the Avinox hype, I decided to give my 4-year-old Levo a mid-cycle refresh to help combat my midlife crisis.

- Intend Flash 38 (unicorn silver)
- Trickstuff Direttissima levers (silver/black)
- Trickstuff Maxima calipers (half silver/ half black)
- Hope Gravity 35mm / 31.8 stem (silver / black clamps)

On our last ride wife's bike didn't change gear properly after I'd fitted a new cassette (both Shimano 12 speed 10-51). Took the wheel off today and realised that the cassette was loose. Had fitted it with the last 4 cogs misaligned, surprising that it changed gear at all. Oh, the shame.
