Pity the motor is SO SO noisy that it is embarrasing to ride it and I have gone back to riding my 2019 Gen 2 Levo Comp and parked the $17,500.00 of new bike. Specialised NZ suggested stuffing sound proofing in the motor compartment. REALLY
At 1100 miles my motor started getting louder. I submitted a claim and Specialized took less than 2 days to approve a replacement. Once approved my LBS replaced it the same day I dropped off my bike.

it’s supposed to be real quiet

Anyone having an issue with the TCU dropping into Micro Tune mode at random intervals? It happened once yesterday and twice over the space of half an hour today.

Edit: Turns out the remote was defective and sending bad signals. I had my dealer replace the remote and the problem went away.

I picked up my new to me (used with 400km on it) 2022 Expert Carbon yesterday and took it for a ride today. During the test ride it was super quiet but about 10 minutes into todays first dirt it started getting louder. Almost like a second whine over the original fairly quiet lower sound. I haven't played with the settings yet. The sound fluctuated. It was louder under load and lower cadences. Sometimes the volume dropped back down for a bit. Was 26 degrees celcius and overcast.

At the start of the ride it was quieter than my EP8 half way through it was noticably louder. I have no reference if it's normal or not. I'll see how it goes on the next couple of rides but might record it and see what Specialised Australia says.

It was louder in Turbo and quieter in Eco. Difference was stark. Is that normal? The EP8 bikes I have now are very consistant based on cadence but the volume doesn't change heaps like this.

Must say I was unpleasantly surprised.

It’s supposed to stay quiet throughout the ride. Mine did the same. Started quiet then after 10% battery was used it would start whining on climbs. Loud enough I would hear the motor through my earbuds and feel the vibration through the frame. Motor is now replaced. My other bike, Kenevo, stays quiet the whole ride on turbo

Thanks. When registration is transferred I'll contact Specialised. That seems exactly what's happening to me.

Oh btw, the new motor i got is also loud. I mean what are the odds? There might be a bad batch of motors.

I didn’t mention earlier because i was waiting to hear from bike shop if specialized approved. So i got the call from LBS today that new motor is approved.

Original motor:
1100 miles, started getting louder. Got replaced

2nd motor:
60 miles total. It was louder than normal the day i got it back last week. Not as loud as original motor when it turned faulty, but not as quiet as how it should sound.

Rode about 3 times along with my bro who has the same Levo. We can notice the difference. My new motor was definitely louder. Sounds like a struggling Levo SL motor, and you can feel a vibration through the bike.

So anyways, bike is at the shop. I should be getting it back this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Luckily they have motors in stock and Specialized sends a new motor to keep the rotating stock full. Hardly any wait time which is good

hoping the 3rd motor will be ok

Will go on long ride tomorrow but i have a good feeling all will be good

2nd Levo motor mfg date was November 2021. It was loud

New motor on Kenevo mfg October 2021. Quiet
3rd motor on Levo mfg October 2021. Quiet

Hello. End of march specialized has an announcements event for the dealers in EU, do you think that also some new colors for the SW and Pro models will come or you think that the existing will stay for the 2022...

Yes...new SL and Kenevo are on the way for this year.

But I wonder if there are maybe also new colors for the levo, it's been a year since the new Levo launched.

Crazy and unpredictable times 😵‍💫🤷🏻‍♂️

Well I have my new (to me) expert booked in Monday for inspection and motor swap. Less than 500kms on this motor. Three rides and although not quite as bad as the first one it's still MUCH louder after 10-15 mins and peaks at about 30-40 mins and stays that way till the end of the ride. Feels kind of rough too.

Bike shop I have the new bike ordered through is going to help, even though he doesn't have to. Another good reason to send my business his way and I'll make sure he's compensated. Hopefully drop off Monday and pick up Friday.

For a bit of fun I weighed the bike and then compared it to my Merida e160-9000. I have built both bikes to a near identical spec. Both have GX AXS and same handlebar and grips. Same fork and fork travel. Same AXS seat post and saddle (Ergon EMTB). Both have alloy wheels (different brands though), Cassette and chain are different (heavier on levo). Tyres are heavier on the Merida. 630 vs 700 battery. X2 on Levo vs DPX2 on Merida. Swat tool in Levo and OneUp tool in Merida. I could save a few 100 grams on Levo with XX1 cassette and chain (running stock GX) but really the bikes are very closely specced. Same pedals and both set up tubeless w' stock tyres.

Difference is 8 grams....

First motor done (and replaced) after 1200Km....
What about reliability on the Brose motor? Broken motor is a common thing? (I pulled the trigger for an alloy version, but nothing is in stock right now, I have to wait a bit, and my LBS is not sure about the availability of the alloy model in the next months, so I pulled the trigger but without any bullet in it)

It's too difficult for Specialized?

Magnetic Jack for brose s-mag by Rotwild for example

View attachment 84313
way cleaner and less steps

Rotwild move crank arm, open cover and plug to charge vs. Specialized move crank arm, turn door latch, gently open door, gently pull harness latch, gently pull harness, plug to charge. don't accidentally move crank arm or else door will break off

probably the only thing i disliked about the new levo since launch. i like the gen2 version better even though it had its own flaws

how they explained how the battery door can break is exactly how mine happened
also, they mentioned how the motor got louder is what happened to mine so i got it replaced

cool vid. true assessment in my opinion. i'll need to rewatch to catch everything they said. I was listening to some parts while i'm at work lol

last Saturday I noticed that the sound went less louder when I increased the cadence and my pedaling effort. It seems when the engine warms up, the noise increases and theres a slight loss of power. On the next day the bike returns to the usual "noise". Must be some kind of security feature to avoid future breakdown... :D

Only had mine a month or so and it's already back at main dealer because of motor noise and a clunk you can hear and feel after pedaling, not happy at all with it.
I get the impression off the dealer, "oh they all do that"

Any fellow chunkers, I'm 112kg and even at 280 psi the rear shock sag was 20mm where as the fox site said it needs to about 13mm for 25% sag. What are my options here? New shock or just suck it up?

No clunk on my bike...

Well just had some good news from the dealers. Specialized have approved fitment of a new motor. Its a worrying thing though that there's something a miss with these motors. They seem to be failing at an alarming rate.
Just hope the new one isn't louder.😂
