Bafang m510

This is mine m560, do you think m510 is more silent?

I saw somewhere nylon gears replacement so maybe could help even more. Not sure if m510 has nylon gears by default.
This M560 is horrible noise...

Indeed but I guess all of them are like that ? Can you say something about m510? I know they are selling peek gear for this motor but not m560 so wonder if it’s quiet. Especially if that high pitched ugly noise is not there. I saw some m600 and this looks like more silent than m510

This is the sound of Bafang M510 with new 3.0 controller.

The good thing of 3.0 version is also the walk mode....it is stronger and adapt to the gear we use...like it so much.

Thanks for video. It is also not
very silent :) But guess more quiet than mine actually. is there a noise difference between fc2 and fc3 ?

If u look for silent go get DJi Avinox motor or Bosch CX5 :D
I have gen4 and yes, it's night and day but gen3 was even more silent ;) But this bafang is on another bike. It might not be super silent but how mine M560 is simply unacceptable. My ears are in pain on trail, can't believe it's normal even for bafang. Anyway, M510 with peek gear could help a lot imo. Not sure if that guy in video had it installed. There is also peek gear for M600 but no peek gear for M560.

open in and check if bearings are okay and not causing horrible vibrations . try john deere header grease - it turns into fluid when compressed and turns into solid when not compressed

Tested Bafang M510 3.0 version with CEF69 frame and 720Wh battery. Total 97km, 2050m EG battery 8% left and still can pull up to 300w power. Also the walk mode now can get enough power. Very good update from Bafang although maximum power only 600w, maybe more power power can update on next firmware.

Who/where did you get the 3.0 controller from? Thanks

Hmm, how it is in real ? From video seems a bit noisy but it could exaggerate. Mine M560 is horribly loud so not sure if it's faulty or is normal. I've bought also M600 but it suffers from power scourge, in hills the power oscillates don't know what it is. But is much more quiet than M560. M510 on its way so I hope this will be much quieter than M560. Maybe I have to install nylon gear.

The M510 should be just as quiet as an M600 if not even a little quieter. I’m sure M560 is “normal” based on the video. Anyone saying they have a “silent” M560 either came from another really loud obnoxious motor or a 1st gen M560 which the current version is an improvement over. It’s just a loud whiny motor, if anyone truly has a quiet one it’s absolutely an outlier and probably not correctly made 😂

Just the same with old M510, M820 is louder than M510. I have both but not yet try M560.

Yeah, it's really hard to understand people who claims M560 is silent. I've read that "new" version should be more silent but it strongly depends who says so. Maybe I have another imagination what silence is because I'm used to Bosch gen4 motor which I thought it could be more silent because I've had gen3 which was a breeze. But this M560 of mine, oh god this is nasty sounding motor. It's really like jet and I'm embarrassed to ride with it. But it could be it's either a old version or something not right with it.
Nevertheless, I've dismantled it and saw it's not lubed enough so I've underwent a serious greasing and seems it has helped a bit but I need to seriously test it. In previous status this motor was one big noise disaster so let's see if mine tweaks has helped. I will see tomorrow.

I found some strange, or it is only fantasy? I clear see "Made in USA" on main m510 gasket.

Have finally gear with one way bearing for M560. After half a year!

Had an idea. To replace it with normal gear pair, with solid shaft. I dont care If rotor is turned with pedalling. And should stand even more power...

Sorry, for out of topic.
I tried to firmly lock these gears. Unfortunately, the controller throws an error if the rotor spins when it shouldn't. You can only ride with the throttle pressed.

Hmmm, gives you error? So for example when you have PAS level 0 and you pedalling? Interesting. What error number you got?

It's impossible to even start moving without the throttle trigger. If you ease up on the pedal while moving, causing the motor to shut off, but continue pedaling, the controller initially shuts off the motor without displaying an error. If you stop for a while, the motor works again. If you continue pedaling, an error appears. Unfortunately, I don't remember the error number.

Hmmm, does not make sense to me. If you pedalling with some assistance, controller can not know you have locked that gear. Interesting.
On PAS 0 when you pedalling, then you regenerating (with locked gear), there are some voltage spikes and this maybe cause the issue and controller is shutting off. Good to know.

Anyway to get spare gear for M560 took me 9 months and lot of confusions, crazy.
So I ended up with 3 spare gears for M510.
If somebody interested in them, let me know. 25Eur each.
