Levo Gen 4 Specialized Gen 4 Levo - Official Thread

The new Amygos guard fits so well and protects the motor. Ive had them on all my Levos.

The motor guard looks nice, but that rear mud guard looks way to long and to tight to the tire. Looking at your second picture guessing you ride out west? Back east I am trying to imagine mud days and and the chunk in the mud rolling under that guard.

Be careful with the motor guard!!
The motor heat a lot and this guard don't help to cool the motor
Never had a problem on 7 other Levos. This is my 8th Levo. I ride in the alpine where it's a lot cooler.

Im running a 2.6 now and there is enough room. I can fit my finger between the guard and tire. It looks closer than it is. The 2.8 fit but I didn't like the mud clearance.

Yup.

The voltage is lower than it was when in development - but it was outside of some region regulations.

As far as I know Spesh delayed/re-jigged the Gen4 because the Mahle was too loud at the time - presumably that's been worked on since then.

It's a shame really - I think the original Mahle Gen4 would have continued the theme of new LEVO's especially when you see this one with the Mahle :

Even weight wise is all back on par with the Avinox system compared to the 10 year leap backwards we have with the Gen4 motor.

Maybe they'll dig out the original Gen4 moulds, eat humble pie and give us a Gen 4.5 with the M40.

There's a lower powered version called the M20, guess that's not been released yet.

Hey, which pro-guard is this and how do you attach it like this?

I'm having hard times in getting an S-works levo gen4 frameset.
Any experiences on this matter?

I have an Sworks S3 frameset on order in USA since April 11. Have not heard any update on timing from my Dealer. Anyone have any insights? There was once a rumor of a re-supply at end of May, but that did not happen.

I got mine on May 24th but in the UK

Not sure why, but this lack of availability of framesets in different sizes seems to be a common thing among most brands lately...here only an S3 Levo is avaliable none other, was looking to geat the Crafty also, but the same story...

What do you all think now that the dust has settled a bit, this thread isn't nearly as active as the one before the launch was...overall, although it's a good bike, I feel it was not accepted by the masses like a Levo was expected to be...

all cables and wires run along the inside of the downtube just behind the battery and then further down the frame just behind the battery mount. There is no way to run a cable from the seatpost or derailleur without removing the motor
So if it can help some others, no need to remove motor for changing seatpost housing... Tried yesterday with success(y). Just need to stick your old housing and the new with tape and go... ;)

Second this, also with the motor cover and the flap off you can see the route the cable takes alongside the motor and prod poke/it to assist.

its been interesting reading people hating on this bike. My old Marin e2 was an absolute pig when it came to hose and cable work. Motor out at a minimum. This bike I managed to replace brakes and dropper in under an hour or so, so much easier and a lot of thought for the home mechanic seems to have gone into it.

Compared to the gen3, the gen4 levo is a pig when it comes to cable routing.....

How is everyone finding the range now that they have had their bikes for a while. HAs it improved over a number of charge cycles?

Im still a bit perplexed by mine to be fair. Definitley not as economical as the gen 3, even with the settings turned down.

I did a 25.3 mile 3200ft ride on Saturday using auto minus and lower settings and came back with 12% battery.

the range is nothing special... All comes down to the type of riding you do. I think that's why they went with the range extender option for the full fats too, they knew it was meh

Curious, i made a tour with about the same miles and ft, came back with 50% battery… also in auto minus mode. I‘m very happy with the range

So when people say they are riding with settings tuned down, you probably need to state what that means (exact settings). I rode this weekend 40 miles /3100ft and was at 10-12% and that was using a variety a turbo 100/100 Trail 40/60 -Auto and Eco 30/35. Now I could easily go 50+ miles with only using my Eco and -auto settings. Which makes me start to wonder if there are battery issues? it just seems like some people are getting crazy low numbers like 25 miles on a full battery is terrible unless you told me you were running in Turbo the entire time.

good point - and knowing there are two battery variants doesn't help either
