Bafang M560

Here is a video of the M560m motor noise using throttle. Note that the pedals spin when the wheel is lifted. This does not happen with the M600. The clutch system/engagement must be different. Spinning stops when you hold the pedals.

Note also that the usual Bafang chain guard is not fitted. It seems there are now mounts for the standard chain guards available on Aliexpress.

Clip of M600 (Peek gear from factory) motor noise for comparison. Excuse the dirty bike as finished a big ride through clay and mud earlier that day. Bike was cleaned after filming.

Kiwi, have noticed also this new freewheel. Also on new M600 - more force needed also when spining backwards. But seems to me it has less rattle.

I just finished installing the M560 and 245 monitors. I don’t think the noise is too serious. I’ll try it when I go up the mountain tomorrow.

So the steel gear in the M560 makes a noise different, have you compared it to the M510 motor?

Tested the M560+245 on the mountain today

1. It’s true that the sound is obviously louder than the M600, but I don’t mind it too much.
2. It is much more powerful than the M600. The 3rd gear of the M560 is already approximately between the 4th and 5th gears of the M600.
3. The motor of M600 will stop immediately when the foot is stopped, but the motor of M560 will still move for 1~2 seconds after the foot is stopped. I think it is a bit dangerous.
4. 245 is still easy to see clearly in the sun
5. I don’t know if it’s an illusion or something, but my friends and I traveled the same distance in the same car. My friends used the M600, and I used the M560. At the end of the trip, they had about 20% of the battery, and I still had 35% of the battery.

2. Cant be such an difference as motors have same peak power.
You maybe feeling it this way as in M560 is Support level parameter. And I guess on PAS3 is allowed max power 100% (same as on M510). So when you push into pedals (and no need even hard) you getting up to 1000W. I would definitelly set this power levels lower.

3. Delay after stop pedalliny - It is a bug and I dont understand how Bafang can not get rid of this. One firmware has longer delay, other does not. Getting sick of it.

2. I am not a data person, haha, but my friend and I used to ride at the same speed using M600 before. But today I changed to M560. I can keep up with his 5th gear in 3rd gear, but I can easily leave him behind in 5th gear. Far

3. Do previous models also have this problem? Can they be solved with new firmware?

2. Doubt u can leave him far behind when both motors are peaking 1000W.

3. Yes, also some firmwares with M600 and other motors had this problem 46.8 if I remember right. My M620 CAN had like 1.5s, had to sell it quick.

No update yet. It was loud and overheating.
Would be good if 500W version would use Nylon gear.
In next revision I am awaiting new controller - in first test batch there is M510 controller. ;)
And lets see if bafang manage to run it at 750W nominal. I guess temperature will raise to 100C quikly (it is 1200W peak)

Guys if anybody has some firmware for M560, please share. Have the beta test firmware v7.4 - 500W

Anybody tried to experment with bootloader? I see pins for onchip flashing in the picture. ;) Just we would need to have a bootloader file.

So there is a new revision of the M560 coming?
How does one tune, or rather adjust these motors? Does Bafang now have a working app like with Shimano E800?

I am confused once again by Bafang's weird policy with their products...

I'm still stumbling through the "app" and tuning options (M510 in my case). For whatever reason information is rarely forthcoming and you seem to have to guess what may or may not work ..

A thread I started to try to make sense of things, but only one person has added to it, so it's also lacking in experienced information.

Thank you for the response.
If I understand the current situation, one should use V3 of the remote and use the older version "Go" (no "+") to have access to these settings, correct?

But adjusting these settings doesn't really work as expected, right?

Also, there seem to be some hardware issues with the motor and they stopped selling it, and are apparently working on a new revision, correct?

My summary is, that not much seem to have changed this my post from 1.5 years ago. Sad.

Almost. V2 with "Go" and V3 with "Go+". Go+ lets you adjust the settings. You can't adjust in "Go".

Running it on mine didn't work as expected, but my firmware seems to run defaults outside of the normal bafang settings so that may have caused the issue. Most likely it works fine for most people, there was a video in the M510 thread of adjusting the settings correctly.

Thanks for the clarification, I somehow got that wrong.

I assume I need something like the K1 to derestrict and restrict (actually more important to me) the speed limit to 25km/h? Or is that a more complicated issue with this new M560?

Hello. It is the same as other bafang CAN controllers. One difference - throttle speed is hardcoded.

Now working on a new device, which will remove power limitation for people who dont have original Bafang batt with CAN. And also should show good SOC % when u use one up voltage battery.

I am affraid that would be true. Chili would inform us, when she get brand new, reworked revision of this motor.
