Will the torque/power of the Bosch Gen 5 increase this year with a software update?

Don't worry: the CX-R will come out of the factory with 100Nm/750W, while the CX5 will be updated to 100Nm/750W from the current 85Nm/600W, presumably at the beginning of July.

so the R will be basically speced the same, just somehow , lighter build ? Comercially it would not make that much impression. Anyway, even the current gen 5 is more than enough but still, future proofing.

With the new CX5 update, yes - they'll be on par in terms of torque, power, and assist percentage.

The differences will be that it’s lighter (about 150g less thanks to more refined materials) and it will feature the RACE mapping, which is exclusive to the race versions.

🥳

I heard a bike industry guy predict that they would bump it up to 100+ Nm this year to compete with the DJI Avinox. I don't know if he was just speculating or he had insider knowledge. (He sold bikes with Bosch so it's also possible he was intentionally spreading misinformation.) This is important for me as I'm looking for an emtb and I don't know how much advantage there is to getting a DJI-equipped bike vs Bosch Gen 5.
Yes air dropping in flow app from July Gen 5 and Gen 4 is included

Yeh, but the standard elyte frame also hosts a CX motor in the Evo range.
It appears, from here, it will be compatible with the SX motor….

I'd think the CXR would drop more than 150 grams with the full magnesium case, ceramic bearings & Ti shafts. I know that's what the Gen4 race motor saved with just the Ti.

Did your weight info come from a reliable source?

If I can get this motor in the Regulator, I think my search for my next e-bike is over.

Yes, Bosch - approximately 100gr.

Thanks for that. Weight is a larger factor to me than the power difference.

One thing to consider is that with the DJI some sort of chain ring protection device needs to be figured out and that would add another 150 grams or so to the DJI and some cost.

On the video of Alex Bike Tester the guy from Bosch clearly says the only difference is the titanium axle and the ceramic bearings. The rest, magnesium case, parts etc is all the same.
