What did you do to your EBike this week?

This evening I’ve swapped the oneup dm stem for a hope dm stem (hope is shiney as opposed to one up being satin black)and also raised the top crown on the dorado forks - partly for frame clearance and partly to increase handlebar height🤨

And time for the ‘finished’ (definitely unfinished!) article 😎

With the one up dm stem.

I could have cleaned it after the weekend’s riding 🤣

Mara pro in place.

Work & party switch (climbing lockout)
And yes, the damper is mounted on the squiff as this gives frame clearance to carry 2 drinks bottles (also the ‘piggyback’ doesn’t interfere with legs while riding 👍)

Rich.
Best looking and sounding forks on the market, sick ride brother 🤟

Broke the connector of the old shimano battery bt-e8010. The bike won’t turn on.
The flat plug on the frame was not properly aligned with the slot, so, when I forced it in, it broke the edge of the slot and crushed the cooper tabs into the bottom.
After 5 hours flickering with tools from crochet, dentist and skincare, and a grinded plier, i managed to pull the cooper tabs back to the edge and shape them, now its turning on!

I did the 5 Dales, a great ride btw, got home, got the bike out of the back of the car, washed the bike and realised the rocker switch was missing from the handlebar power level switch. Searched the car, ripped the carpet out, checked the spare wheel well, checked where I'd washed the bike, searched bloody everywhere. Maybe I'd somehow damaged and knocked it off at the carpark where I'd parked before the ride?

So I went back to where I'd parked up (this is going through Matlock which is a nightmare) and lo and behold there it was on the floor next to where I'd parked. It's now taped in place (I'd somehow damaged the 'stirrups' as it no longer clips into place. Before I went back to search for it I priced up a new Shimano h/b switch.....£60-£100!!! Seriously Shimano that really is taking the piss for a plastic switch.

I rode my YT Decoy for the first time today. When I was putting it away, I managed to catch the same Shimano switch just right by accident and broke it in the exact same way. Took forever to find where the little metal rod flew off to.

I'm currently attempting to fix it by super-gluing the ends of the metal rod to the plastic body where the "stirrups" are supposed to be (they both broke).

Seems like a pretty dang flimsy part.

Yes mate, those plastic 'stirrups' that the metal hinge pin clips into are only about a millimetre in thickness, one knock and they're toast. Bloody stupid design by Shimano, and an even bloody stupider price to replace.

I've used gaffer/duct tape to hold my rocker switch in place to allow for the rocking movement, it works fine.

Took my Magura Vyron MDS3 to the LBS as it stopped raising

Only 8 months old so hoping for a warranty replacement or at the least a free fix

Just found and fitted a Reverb External dropper post after having to bleed it, its only a 125mm but its better than nothing

At least now I can ride as my Magura has been sent back to them to be looked at and I don't expect to hear anything for at least a few weeks as its Easter

New 2026 Rockshox Reverb AXS B1 dropper arrived today... with the new style 'bulge'. Not as bonny as the original, but now up to 250mm drop (I've gone with 200mm).
Will get it on the bike tonight, and hopefully get a wee ride in tomorrow to test it out.

Nice... I had the Phenom S-Works one for a while. Very comfy, and extremely lightweight.
The carbon rails cracked after a while, then it was replaced under warranty. Happened again, and Spesh said no to a second warranty. They claimed a saddle was a consumable, and it had lasted about the time they expected 🤷‍♂️

I’ve heard that a few time with the carbon rails. So saved £100 + and got the pro with the Ti rails.

What did I do?

Rode it again 😎

Okay, yesterday we fitted & bled the new Maven ultimate brakes so today was testing and bedding-in joy 🤨

IMG_7838.jpeg

And the weather was horrible so Bpw at its finest 😎

IMG_7836.jpeg

Managed to use all of the travel 😎

IMG_7835.jpeg

And most of the rear travel 🙄
Maybe a few psi mort for tomorrows ride…

As usual, managed to heat the brakes even with this weather!

Rich.

On Friday, I bled the rear brake, Shimano XT. The fluid was leaking slowly down the plastic tube into the jam-jar; it was very dark! I could see the occasional bubble moving along the tube. All very satisfactory. Until I got a bit impatient and pressed the lever a few times. Then it all went very wrong!

I had remembered to remove the pads, but like a total dickhead  , I had forgotten to fit the block. You know what's coming next, don't you?

Yep, one of the four pistons popped clean out and the fluid starting leaking out! I say leaking, gushing would be a better word for it. Within seconds the reservoir at the lever end was empty and air was being drawn in. I managed to seal the reservoir to slow the flow, but what a mess! I cleaned up and considered myself very lucky that I managed to get the piston back in to place. I started again, but running low on brake fluid now.

When I had finished, I cleaned up some more and finally tested the lever. Straight to the bar! Sh1T! Worse than before I started, much worse; at least the brake worked before.

None of the local bike shops have any Shimano brake fluid, not even Halfords. I didn't have enough brake fluid to redo from scratch, so I decided to tackle the next part as a lever bleed. I pumped the lever and then tied the lever to the grip with a zip tie. I left the bike overnight with the lever at the highest point and with the brake hose in a continuous downhill angle. It has worked before very successfully.
This afternoon (Saturday), I will complete the lever bleed. Put a syringe barrel with brake fluid in on to the lever body and then repeatedly compress the lever, pull it and let it snap back, tap the hose, etc. Loosen the clamp bolts and move the lever body back and forth. It is surprising how many bubbles emerge. Let's hope that happens again, because my grandson is coming over for a ride tomorrow and I'll need my rear brake.

Later edit: Bastards! nothing works! I have a lever that pulls to the bar but will go hard if I pump it 3-4 times. Not really good enough for those steeps where I'm going on Sunday. But I don't want to let down my grandson. Let's hope those are not my "famous last words"!

A new TCU on the Levo SL, the old one had decided to only switch on after removing the TCU from the frame and unplugging the green cable for a few seconds and then reconnecting.

Worked fine after that until the bike went to sleep after switch off (about 30 mins) and then wouldn’t work again until the green cable disconnect thing.

I enquired about retrofitting the Mastermind TCU (my 2020 model has the simple 10 bar one), and with a glint in his eye the workshop manager said I probably could but it wouldn’t be a free one. I decided to keep the cash in my pocket!

Nice, I want to get one for my gen 3 Levo. I can’t decide which length will be the best to go for. I want to slam it as much as possible for asthetics. My bike is an S5 with 280mm max insertion
