M820 Bafang - LIGHTCARBON LCE930 Frame (lightweight)

I sorta get that, I was a brand snob too, but with the laugh out loud prices and specs of the main stream brands I’m more then happy to save $5k and get a just as good performing bike.
People laugh at these ‘no name’ Chinese brands, but they won’t be laughing a few years time, these guys will become established players soon.

I don’t mean it in a brand snob way of wanting it to be some big name bike (Hey, I ride a Dengfu frame right now after all), I’d just prefer it blank over the awful Teewing name plastered over it. But it’s their brand, so obviously it’ll be there, I get it. Having a say in the paint is the only thing that would make me want to order it direct from LC instead of Teewing.

Ah, I get you :)

Yeah, just buy direct from LC in that case :)
That was my plan. But the price for the frame unpainted from LC before import costs was the same as the price of the Teewing landed at my door stop, painted ready to go.

I’m sure they give significant discounts to the businesses buying in bulk on the frames, plus shipping has much better unit economics when dealing with bulk shipments so I’m not surprised.

Thanks for pointing that out, I didn’t realize that. With more frame options for the DJI Avinox motor, it’s a whole different story.

Agreed, I hope to see more frames options for the DJI. I enjoy being able to pick my components and build myself but don’t want the disaster of Bafang, and the Levo is… the Levo. There are very few options for frameset (w/battery motor) only e-bikes.

Hi all,

Not so great news from me. I think I found few small cracks on my frame. I was doing some maintenance of the rear linkage, because during riding, some creaking and squeaking was audible. I found them below the central pivot point, for the rocker arm, on the main triangle, like shown on the picture below:

Pictures of my frame (bike is upside down, that is why it looks like it is on the top:

I decided to sand down a pain on one of them, to check if it is only paint, but to me it looks like they are actually cracks of the carbon:

And considering a location, I believe that this area is quite highly stressed, when a shock is compressed.
Can you guys please check, if somebody can see something similar on their own frame?

I am quite worried now and not sure if I should ride it anymore. What do you guys think?

I’d contact LightCarbon for sure on that one.

Not good but repairable.
You should contact Light Carbon

Hey guys,
I’m new here and actually went through all 48 pages of this thread (took me over a week 😅).
Really exciting project! I don’t own an e-MTB yet, but I’d love to know what’s been going on since the frame was released.

I’m especially curious about your long-term experiences:

  • How durable is the frame?
  • How’s the Bafang M820 motor holding up (durability, support feeling, software updates)?

And what do you guys think: what can we expect from this kit by September 2025?
Based on your experiences, what would you recommend to me today?

thank you

  • How’s the Bafang M820 motor holding up (durability, support feeling, software updates)? > No problems with motor for two years. No need for updates or support.

I got the response:
Hello Martin ,
Sorry to hear that your frame might get cracks , yeah, for your safty, please do further test to check if the crack comes from the paint or the carbon fiber.

And really regret to tell you that your frame 2 years quality warranty is over.
If you finally affirm it's carbon crack, you can consider order front triangle from us to replace it.
I'll do my best to offer you a discount price .

I received the frame on 10th of August 2023, so it looks like I am 1 month over warranty. 😔

I am a little angry at myself, because the frame that I received had very poor headset seat. It was oval, and even with proper preload, bearing was still moving and creaking. I decided to fix it myself, like this guy in the video: Link
I sunk few 100€ to fix this. I should just request a warranty and would not have this problem now.. 😟

Oh well, we live and learn 🙃

I requested a information about the discounted front triangle price, so waiting for this info now.

Tough break, man. Don’t beat yourself up too much – we all learn from stuff like this. Fingers crossed you find a cheap and easy fix!

Hi, LC offered new front triangle for discounted 300$USD, which is IMO fair price.

Was anybody else able to check if they, by any chance, have the same cracks on their frame?

Selling my LCE930 medium frame, complete bike. All new parts, except the fox 36 fork and only tested in driveway. TRP brakes, SRAM GX 12 drivetrain,PNW 150mm dropper. Picked up a different ebike waiting for parts on this bike, so need to sell. Has the newest headset from lightcarbon for cable routing. $4000

Would you sell just the frame ?

I am sorry for your frame! That seems like a fair price. I checked my frame, nothing visible, yet at least. I have been riding quite hard, jumps and lots of downhill on roots and rocks. I am also 90+ kg.

Looking for a replacement charger for the 820. Mine seems to be clipping out of charge state after an hour or so.....unplug and replug and it goes again and can get to 100% with repeated replugs. Best tool does not show any battery issues. Supplier suggests trying a new charger.

I ordered a couple of these. Took a month to arrive but they're exact Bafang replacements. Note these are for the 43V battery and IIRC the m820 supports a 36V battery also (so make sure your charger voltage matches this one before ordering it):

Hi

my feedback after removed my mullet wheel set

I put a crossmax xl 29" wheel set with schwalbe magic merry and big betty, I upgrade my 150mm fork to 160mm.
- 29" is faster than mullet on climbing or on downhill, I need to adapt my braling point on fast moment :)
- I have a better center position with 29"
- mullet turn more easier than 29", my head tube angle is less slacker now and I need time to find flow when I turn

In fact 29" is better, good balance to have good bike to climb and more racer bike on downhill

Hi, you should try english to get more/better answers. If I understand your question, you would like to use a 30t chainring. You can do that, no problem, only difference is that your chainline will be ~2mm more, since the 30t have built-in spacers to give room for the chain.

Nice looking bike! 👍

Hey guys, can you ride LCE930 without the battery? Battery might be delayed on shipping, so keen to test the suspension. But worried without the battery, the structural integrity of the frame will be reduced

Yes you can, battery has nothings to do with structural integrity. I did a few rides like this when my frame was new and didn’t have a battery.

Unfortunately the charger works but does the same thing. I have not been able to figure out what is wrong so I assume its the BMS in some way.

Hey guys, anyone can show a pic of a Size Small LCE930? I ordered a 125mm ks900i, did not thought about the seat tube length of the frame. Worried it might be too high for me.
