M820 Bafang - LIGHTCARBON LCE930 Frame (lightweight)

You have uploaded firmware for a battery with a nominal voltage of 36V, but your battery has a nominal voltage of 43V - this will not work. You need to find someone from Beest Tool to upload firmware for a 43V battery.
yes, thanks, I have learned that the motor serial number is with Bafang as a 36V. Very frustrating as the bike is basically bricked until I can get a cable or perhaps Bafang will make an edit to their DB (some have said this is possible)

Can anyone recommend the fastest path to a BESST compatible USB cable in North America??

Only options I've seen is straight from Ali/Aliexpress, that's how I got mine, probably 10-14 days to get to North America unfortunately. Might be able to find one on eBay/Facebook Marketplace second hand on this continent at least if you're lucky.

do you have a link to what you ordered?

The exact one I ordered says it’s no longer available to ship to my location but if I just search Bafang BESST I get a few different listings popping up on AliExpress.

This is what it should look like.

update on my bricked bike due to overvoltage on a firmware update that the bafang app pushed. Jim at LightCarbon was kind enough to help me communicate with Bafang and they reset the firmware remote, when I connected the go app it detected new firmware and flashed it....fixed instantly. Phew.

Happend same to me, Besst offered me different voltage. What a silly bug from Bafang. :( I guess you flashed 36V firmware.

Unlucky you havent found K1 Flash. Could be with you in 2 days.

Have a trick how to raise a power. To flash 36V firmware, use 43V battery and BBR device.

Heloo @JimLee-Lightcarbon can u share the 3D file of motor side cover please? thx.
Here's a link to my design for this cover - it's a bit thicker than the original and surprisingly, despite being 3D printed from PETG, it seems to be more durable than the original.

thanks man. so using PETG is more durable?

PETG is more radiation-resistant than ABS, but ASA filament would be even better.
However, I think that PETGis a sufficient material for this cover, especially since it's very flexible.

Always use PETG if you not printing toys. PLA is shit and just decays by itself after some time.

sorry just check the post, the cover's size as below, bottom and side covers
the file is .x-t, if anyone can change it to step please do it, thanks,

Hey guys,
I’m new here and actually went through all 48 pages of this thread (took me over a week 😅).
Really exciting project! I don’t own an e-MTB yet, but I’d love to know what’s been going on since the frame was released.

I’m especially curious about your long-term experiences:

  • How durable is the frame?
  • How’s the Bafang M820 motor holding up (durability, support feeling, software updates)?

And what do you guys think: what can we expect from this kit by September 2025?
Based on your experiences, what would you recommend to me today?

thank you

Hi
I purchased one of the first M820 motors and separately one of first frames
I did have a motor controller failure but have no problems since, the motor performs very well for it‘s small size and weight.
No problems with the frame at all and the paint is good quality.
the build date is September 2023, around 2000km mostly dirt / mud steep enduro laps.
Build details are earlier in this thread.

My M820 got 4000km never had problem. Mine is 36v version. The only downside is the sound whistling a little bit loud.

Everything I’ve heard about the 930 frame and the M820 seem to be pretty positive. These guys are right around the corner from me and sell this “Powerline SL” bike which is an LCE930. A lot of people around here seem to have good things to say about it as well.

No issues with mine other than a shock pivot bearing going dry. It's the one that catches all the sweat. 🤔. The bearings are standard size, cheap and easy to install.

I was looking at this as an option. I’m not sure what weights people are ending up with, and how important that is to you. But I’d personally be looking at the newly announced DJI powered frameset from the same manufacturer or direct from Teewing.
:)

The weight is really important to me – I don’t want to go over 20 kg.
Wait, seriously? Light Carbon is going to release a frame for the DJI Avinox motor soon?
And does DJI actually sell those motors to non-OEM customers as well?

DJI doesn’t sell the motor directly to you, you buy it with the frame as a whole assembly. Frame/motor/battery like the Levo frames are sold. But yes, they already have it, you can look up the Teewing Turbo Force to see a complete bike using it, it’s essentially an Amflow clone in terms of geometry. But… word is they’re in big demand and availability may be 6 months out right now directly from LightCarbon.

Where are you located?
I’m from Australia, you can buy the (painted ready to go) frameset with the DJi motor and battery (no shock) for $5.5k aud.
Teewing seems to be available in quite a few countries now. 8, say have a look into it :)

The Teewing deal is pretty good, I could just never stomach having my bike say “Teewing” on the side. Some of those names from the Chinese companies are just awful.
