Dji avinox- Amflow - Discussion

Hey all,

I’m thinking about ordering this bike, but I’ve got a few questions before pulling the trigger. Apologies if it’s kind of been answered further back in the thread. I have done lots of reading and searching, but I’m looking for a bit of reassurance on my choice before I go ahead.

I know the motor can be customized. But how is its response and how well does it modulate? Especially at low cadence, low speed (just cruising along on flat ground). I know that I will be trying to make it feel as much like a Bosch as I can, only better maybe? I also saw someone complaining that it stops adding power after a bit over 100w of rider input? If that is true, will it kind of feel like a on/off switch at bigger rider inputs?

Usually I would go with an enduro bike. My riding is 50% just cruising around trails with some climbs (what a trail bike can do), and 50% downhill with some tech, and some average jumps. I am not a skilled DH rider at all, but I hope to improve and I don’t want to end up out classing what the bike can do with its geo and frame.

For sizing, I am 172cm, and have a 78cm inseam. I think this puts me between the medium and large? But closer to a medium, right?

Thanks!

Anyone heard any rumours of the base spec changing?

MBR mention 700/900wh batteries,
Will the PL Carbon will move from gx to T type 70/90 at some point?

In this video, the Italian manager of Amflow declares that the deliveries at the end of June will arrive with SRAM T-TYPE 70 and the new FOX...

I am also interested in this bike, great engine ! But I have read in several online magazines (EMTB comparative, Loamwolf etc.) that the frame is not very rigid and the bike is not among the best downhill, in fact it is even disappointing !
So can anyone honestly say how they find it? thanks.

It’s a trail bike.

If you want a downhill bike, that’s what you should buy.

I’ve done over 2500km on my Amflow and flex has never been a problem.
I ride trail, XC, enduro, lots of technical stuff and the bike is the best ride I’ve ever had; and I came from a Santa Cruz Heckler.

I would guess that maybe the stock wheel and tyres maybe an issue for those people that have complained, I doubt it was the bike.

Amflow delivered now with T-Type 70 and new Fox Performance 36

I have mulleted my PL Carbon Pro, and fitted the 27.5 Maxxis Minion DHR2 in 2.6. Unbelievable both up and downhill compared to similar travel length EMTBs.

My two previous bikes were Merida E160s. The last one was the 2025 model and The Amflow is a complete gamechanger for me. It's like my riding ability just advanced 10 years. I am so confident on this bike when descending and getting airborne.

But it is only 160-150 travel, and you have to be careful not to bottom it out, with all that extra confidence.

As with any bike you could upgrade the suspension. And I don't see the frame holding it back.

But if you are a person who just rides the gravel uphill and then charges A-line single track downhill. There are burlier bikes, designed with longer travel, that are better suited to this style of riding.

But for a one EMTB that does everything really well. The Amflow is the best bang for buck by a huge margin. There is nothing remotely close in it's price range. And it regularly out performs EMTBs twice it's price.

Niiiice! What else changed? Stem? Is the hub XD drive now?
He won't know unless he removes the cassette. But I can see from the photo it is a XS 1270 Cassette which from the SRAM website I can see it is HG Hubbed.

I have looked at this cassette as a future cost effective replacement for my XO cassette. But unless I change hub. I cannot use it, so I'll probably just use the GX cassette.

Whilst I'm here. I have engaged the Auto-shift on my Amflow PL Carbon Pro. And when you shift up or down the motor does spool the chainwheel without you needing to pedal. So there is actual communication between the DJI motor and the SRAM Eagle Transmission derailleur. I have only tested this in my workshop, and not riding yet. But it does seem to spool the motor for way too long, and could cause control issues when riding in a very tight situation.

I have this same feature on my Merida E160 with the Shimano EP801 motor and the XT Di2 Derailleur. And it doesn't spool the chainwheel for near as long.

Been raining here madly so I should get to test this in a few days. I'll report back.

Pulling very gently, not enought to cause any prob. Try it in terrain first.

Dobrý deň Hello. I have an Amflow PL, I would like to upgrade to Sram Axs Transmission. Do I also need to change the chainring and which one?
I'm running a standard alloy 12 speed chainring on my PL Carbon Pro with the T-Type chain. The fit looked perfect and I've put 200km on this chainring. It has performed perfectly.

Qbviously SRAM will recommend their own chainring, which I removed. This is it here.

Rain eased off. Took the bike out for 20 mins.

Wow !!! What a difference in shifting. It's made gear changes almost silent and no issue at all with the chainwheel spooling.

Very, very impressed with how well the DJI motor interfaces with the SRAM electronic transmission. It's probably better than the Shimano electronic shifting.

This Amflow is just kicking all the goals.

Alloy chainrings gets chewed pretty quickly on ebikes, especially on a high power/torque motors like Amflow definitely is ...

Hasn't been the case with this chainring. Put about 600km on it on my Shimano EP801 which is 85Nm. Then 200km on the Amflow. Apart from a bit of paint loss on the teeth. It still looks in as new condition.

And at AUD$10 a chainring which is about 6€. If I get 2000km from it. I'll be very happy.

That said. I keep my chain in perfect condition and cleanly waxed after every ride.

Amflow PL Carbon at BPW riding blues, reds, blacks and purple pro lines.

Between this and Iain Richard's videos I don't know what more evidence anyone would need to understand that the Amflow is perfectly capable downhill on enduro trails.

"oooowww but it's a trail bike designed to go uphill not downhill"

Has anyone installed a Fox DHX2 to replace the stock shock? Do you need to buy another set of bushings or I can use the existing ones from the stock shock? Is the DHX2 any good?

I let my buddy who used to race downhill do a lap of a black downhill run on my PL Carbon Pro. Yes I've mulleted it and fitted a fatter Maxxis DHR2.

But to quote a post he put on social media. "Great fun, that bike is lux, short ride and its smooth as."

For those that don't speak OZ MTB. That means the bike performed very well ...... :ROFLMAO:

I wouldn’t recommend the DHX2, the shaft/bushing overlap isn’t stable enough for yoke/clevis suspension designs. The Fox DHX is much stronger.

What shock did you go for? And did you need it tuned? That's the only thing I'd like to swap on mine.

I have noticed that my pro with the 600w battery drops a few % battery in 24 hours when it's powered off, I'm not in a great cellular area so guess the modem is using some power to connect to the network, same for the GPS. Anyone else noticed idle battery consumption?. I know all battery's do it but didn't really consider the cellular connection usage... ?

Legend !, thanks mate !!, I was worried something was amiss. Appreciate quick response 👍🏻

Just thought I'd let you know that all of my dji drone batteries self discharge after a few days, this is what they are designed to do as they don't like being stored at 100% for long periods.Might be same for the bike battery..Don't know just thought I'd say..thanks Shaun👍

Anyone riding an amflow here around 14 stone ? Ordering a large - I’m 186cm with a long torso but suddenly worried I’m on the heavy side of if I start doing BPW etc … 😅
