If you dont mind Specialized tyres then there is the Butcher and at around £20 a pop if you shop about they are a bargain.

Besides that, Hans Damph isnt too bad either. Not a fan of the DHR2 and I have a pair of them on one of my bikes but that could just be the whack geo and the added weight of a small child on the top tube making things feel a bit sketchy.

I absolutely loved the Argotal on the rear BUT as with everything it depends where and how you ride.
Would the kryptotal rear downhill soft variant be a decent tacky chan replacement? I ride a lot of enduro and off piste. Keen to keep to 2.4 too

I’ve not personally used one on the rear but a friend of mine has gone from Magic Mary Feont Tacky Chan rear to having both Kryptotal and prefers the previous set up. He’s quite a heavy rider (140kg+ bike and user). He likes casing everything and making life as difficult as possible so grip and reliability are major points of contention for him.

I'm using the kryptotal rear ENDURO soft in 2.6, great tyre. Should have gotten the DH as I have a pretty big puncture which is very rare for me.

Thank you for this.

I have just had to thread lock the left crank arm after it came off mid-ride the other day. It seems to have worked, but will now defo take it in to my local Cube Dealer to get looked at.
I have called my "local" Cube dealer, which is 6 miles away. It's a The Electric Bike Shop store (owned by Cube).
They tell me their customers are a priority and I need to contact the independent bike shop I got the bike from - 211 miles away.

They should be able to send me the bolts.

I called the the independent bike shop and they were more helpful and understanding than a Cube shop.

Thanks for your safety concerns Cube 👍🏻

In this dry gravelly rubbish that the local trails have become the Argotal rear was such a good decision. It’s ability to dig in and find grip out of no where is incredible. The light gravel/sandy tracks in between however were a different story. Turbo mode breaks traction in anything below around gear 6. Not ideal 😂

So 2.6 are ok width for our bikes? I did wonder about trying the pirelli scorpion in 2.5. Anyone any experience of the pirelli in race Dh M variant?

I dropped the dh as the tread doesnt conform as easily as the enduro case. I then added cushcore to protect the rim and couldn't be happier with that set up. 2.6 works but I find its too prone to damage when compared to a 2.4 somehow.

Kryptotal 2.6 is massive but fits out back without a mudguard, it wont work in muddy conditions and the paint chips easily as there is only ~3mm betweent he tyre and seatstay bridge.

Upon a reflection (admittedly via the pub) I think I'm going to stick with the Chan. They are working well for me and I went through tyre choice hell during my sports car track day phase which was expensive!

+1 on that choice, Tacky Chan in the rear with an Magic Mary up front is a good combo and one that shouldn't be grumbled at.

Both tyres are similar in some respects so I often wonder why Cube chose slightly different front to rear tyres.. From what I was told, Chan is a more modern MM version!

TC is more like DHR2 and MM is more like Assegai.

TC and DHR2 run a closer outer grip knob with staggered thin wide dualies down the middle.

MM and Assegai run slightly wider space outer grip knob with staggered dualies and tripple knobs down the middle.

The amount of tyres that run such a similar set up is staggering.

Ordered the TC - I've gone for ultra soft - whilst obviously it won't last as long lets see what the difference is on my local trails.

I'm going to buy an aluminium skid plate, surely this one some people here recommended :Cube Stéréo Hybrid 2025 ONE44 and ONE77 E-Bike engine guard
Is it working fine for those who bought it ? I'm a bit scared to damage the motor but I also think it will better protect everything that the plastic default one which protects basically nothing, right ? :)
I just can't stand the default plastic one, 2 rides in a row where it falls without me noticing, not until I stop and have to reverse on the trails to find it lying on the ground.... (by the way at least the new Bosch update makes it a lot easier to climb back trails, it feels really better to climb now in Turbo with max numbers for power and torque)

Recently got one and fitted it. It's great and I haven't been worried about it at all.
It's solid, covers the motor and offers much more protection than the plastic one.
I think it may be a bit smaller/streamlined than the plastic cover too because I'm clearing a few things easier without it getting knocked. The bottom is flat and not curving down as much.
I would 100% recommend getting it.

I've fitted 145mm "pinnd" cranks, doesn't change much from my cheapo 140mm cranks but they look a lot nicer.

On my second big weekend of riding, amazing day yesterday riding spines and natural pumptracks in Digne Les Bains.

Hitting the bike parks now, massive day in Les Orres. I've done a bit of maintenance on the bike and I think my suspension has broken in properly now. I've said here before the bike isn't that plush, I take it back now having reduced my pressures a few psi front and back, and opened up the compression 1-2 clicks, the bike has been plowing through brake bumps and rough stuff.

Cool trail and nice video.

Hi I am new here and ordered my first ebike (one77 SLT) which I did zero research on until now. I have a couple questions to ask if you could help me out.

Is the BB height really that bad ? I ride alot of steep tech and bike parks and don't want to be caught out while shifting.

I am 5'9 and ordered a medium which I my current bikes are.( nukeproof giga 297 and the new jekyll) I belive im very much in-between sizes. What's your experiences either way?

Sorry for all the questions, I dont really want a bike that I have to change parts on to make it safe.

Thanks Paul

No the BB really isn’t that bad. Most bikes are similar, people forget there’s a motor strapped to it which hangs bout 50mm lower than the bottom of a frame without one. All EMTBs have this issue one way or another.

As for the size, I got an L but my Nukeproof Scout is an M. The M on the cube actually hit my knees when steering which the Scour did not, I attribute this to maybe seat post angle but either way, an L was needed for me. I’m 5ft10 for context with shorter legs.

I'm 5"10 and a M. You'll be fine on that size.

The BB is low but I think that is because of a few things, for me anyway:

1) I came from a 29er YT Jeffsy (2016) and was used to a higher BB.
2) Ebikes are A LOT heavier
3) Riding style and line choice had to be changed for these reasons
4) MTB to EMTB learning curve is almost a vertical line

Give it several rides and you will get used to the bike as it very different to a regular MTB.

I was getting pedal strikes but this was solved my tuning my rear shock and the right psi in my rear tyre. I picked my lines differently, the ones I took on my Jeffsy would be fine, they run different on this bike.
Catching the plastic motor guard was an issue too, since I added the metal one (mentioned in this thread) I haven't hit it on anything.

Just tune it up correctly, after a few rides check all the bolts, check the cranks and bolts, and check the battery compartment bolts. These are all very common check we've all done and, I suspect, checks most EMTB owners do after the first few rides.

Owning an EMBT is totally different to owning a MTB and we're all here to help each other out.

Thanks bud, any advise is appreciated. Uno mith was my first choice but there was no stock and I got this bike at a good price.

Some more experience to share, that may be of interest to those that were between sizes and went up a size. I went up from a L to XL, as the L was slightly short on reach and too short on seat stay length (I hit min insertion depth for the dropper post with the 165 cranks when I tested it). So I went for the XL, but always felt it was perhaps 10mm too long in the reach. So, I saw these ethirteen plus 35 stems in the 40mm length, on offer on the ethirteen UK website at £36 down from £90 rrp. The stem that came with the bike is 50mm length and also around 15-20mm rise (I always felt that rise was excessive and not needed). Anyway, I’ve fitted the new stem and, apart from the colours being a great match to the carbon/gold bike scheme, it‘s made the bike ride exactly how I’d hoped. I now feel fully balanced on it and it has‘t moved weight off the front wheel, as the rise drop has more than counteracted the loss of 10mm in reach length; I actually feel I have slightly more weight over the front now.

In summary, if you were on the size fence and went up, I’d highly recommend giving this mod a go (especially whilst ethirteen are nearly giving these stems away).

Now for the sucky news, I’m in for a right knee ACL reconstruction op this week, so this was my last ride until next spring ☹️. An old injury that really needs fixing before my knee completely destroys itself, so it is what it is.

Did you change the cranks ? What sort of terrain do you ride?

Get healed up and back on the bike soon.

Liking that stem, looks the part too.
Bummer about the op though 🙁 Hope you heal up quick and are able to get out on the trails as soon as 👍🏻

Heal up fast. I'm sure there will be plenty of messages on here you can contribute too, albeit gutted to not be able to ride.

Dropped my motor today to see if I can locate where the noise is coming from. All I could see was the marks to the casing and frame where the dropper cable goes. Anyone else spot anything wrong? Tempted to put some foam up in between motor and frame.
