2026 Santacruz Bullit Owners - Setup - Tricks - Discussion

So I am a new Bullit owner! I am 205lbs, 6'3" and ride an XL, first ride I did 3300' elevation and 13.3miles toggling all of the power modes and when I finished the ride I had 29% battery remaining.

AAaannnnndddddd how was the ride @Mojo_n_SB ? Did it live up to the hype?

Hi everyone, last Friday I picked up the Bullit sram 90, I replaced the wheels with my Roval traverse hd carbon with dt350 hubs and schwalbe albert gravity 2.5 tires with a Vittoria airliner dh insert at the back and the handlebars with a pnw carbon 31.8 rise 38 cut to 76 cm and 32 mm stem always pnw, bike weighed 22, 050 kg without pedals, given the assembly I am very satisfied with the weight. First outing Saturday 4 descents, 30 km total and 1050 m of altitude difference I brought home 46% of battery, the bike is very fun and excellently balanced, I look forward to trying it on my reference trails in Finale Ligure.

FWIW, rode a local flow trail for the first time this season. Conditions were bumpier than last year, and I wasn't really feeling it and I still beat my best time by 1 sec. So, bike is really quick downhill.

I picked up my bike 2 weeks ago and have been doing some shorter rides while I am getting the suspension, bars, stem dialed in. I weigh 240 lbs and i'm 6' 4" and have an XL.

I had got to the point where was feeling pretty comfortable on it and some tires with a little more volume than the 2.5 front and rear of the Maxxis tires that were on there. I'm in SoCal and it is loose over hard pack and hard pack mostly where I ride. I wanted to try these new Schwable alberts in the gravity casings to see if it would improve the ride feel. I went for 2.6 ultra soft on the front and 2.6 soft in the rear. The front had taken only a few small adjustments in pressure to get it to feel a little more plush than the Assegai it replaced.

The rear was not an improvement for me. In general it felt either harsh or soft and on off cambers I had no confidence in it at all. The back would move around way too much and it felt like I was only running 15 psi in it. I messed with pressure going as low as 24 psi and up to 32 psi and just couldn't get a good feeling with it. I will be putting the DHR II back on until I can either find something better to pair the front with or even back to the Assegai / DHR II combo. I wouldn't normally post but as I had put out the best part of $200 on these tires I thought I would give some feed back for anyone else on the fence about these new radials.

I run the Magic Mary’s r and back and like those a lot. Both gravity Ultrasoft frt soft rear

I'm not a fan of the schwable radials, but mostly because I do not like Schwalbe tires. For me, it mostly comes down to the side knobs of schwalbe tires not being supportive enough and they feel very squirmy. I find the Magic Mary not communicative enough in front and it's very hard to discern the limit between hooked in on the side knobs and washing out/pushing. The magic mary is slightly better than the albert for me because the shoulder/side knobs have more support, but they are both similar in that they are a 2/3/2 design and the side knobs are too fragile and get folder over and ripped off immediately.

I do like how the radial casing tires feel in straight line situations, particularly very chattery/gnarly rock gardens, but even then it's casing feel that I like and I don't have a significant amount of confidence in the tread pattern and grip.

Is there a reason you're replacing the maxxis tires on this bike? Tires are very subjective, but IMO the maxx grip assegai and maxx terra dhr2 is the go-to combo for southern california conditions. I don't particularly feel the need for any volume increases as I do not feel that additional volume means additional grip. It just adds compliance, with isn't something you need with 170mm of travel on hand.

I digress, if you are hung up on tire volume, then the answer for me is either 2.6 specialized butcher/cannibal combo or a 2.6 conti kryptotol rear (rear run on both front/rear is my preference for socal) is the path forward. Of the two, I would lean conti for longevity and for casing strength. The specialized 2.6 tires use a softer sidewall in my experience.

I am coming off of numerous full power Kenevo and Levo's over the last 5 years and had been running a Butcher 2.6 T9 Grid Gravity tires on the front and rear. I like the casing feel and price of those tires, I have tried the Cannibal but only on the rear.

The first thing I noticed on the Bullit was the cushion off the tires I had been used to wasn't there. The Assegai on the front was really grippy but again just a little less of a cushion than the Specialized tires. I have ran both the 2.6 Assegai and 2.5 wt Assegai on other bikes in the past and prefer the comfort of the 2.6 over little extra grip you get from the 2.5. I could not wrap my head around putting specialized tires on a Santa Cruz bike so the Schwalbe's made sense from the reviews I had seen.

I'm loving the Bullit and have been making constant small changes that have made the bike even better. I had the Float x performance and had managed to find a new take off X2 from another Bullit. I'm glad I did it that way as I could feel the difference of the X2 shock after a few rides with the performance shock.

I have the C70 but have changed out the following parts:

Fox Factory Grip X2 Forks

Fox Factory X2 shcok - Bullit Tuned

TRP DH Evo Pro Brakes - 220mm / 203mm rotors

31.6 Renthal 40mm rise bars

Spank 43mm Stem

Cushcore - rear

GX AXS Derailleur

One up 240mm dropper

Specialized Bridge seat

I chose this model spec as I knew that I would end up changing out most components anyway. From reading through this thread before I purchased the bike it helped me figure out which direction to go.

Has anyone figured out a way to get a bash guard of some sort on the bike? I've had a couple of chainring/chain to rock impacts which sounds/feels horrendous and probably isn't very good for the drivetrain at all!

Doesn't look like there's many options out there.

For those of us in the states that are ordering new X2s to be retuned by Fox to match the Bullit, be aware that the typical rebuild kits are readily available so the service work takes a little longer when you send the shock into Fox. The Reno center is waiting on shims from manufacturer. Likely more like a 1-2 week turnaround than 1-2 days

Anyone with pictures of custom Fox38 decals on their Teal bullit? Feel like the performance elite color scheme needs a little pop

Help! Matte or gloss invisframe wrap on my incoming teal Bullit?

Any pictures to help make my decision as dealer is asking me my preference, noting bike is matte and would normally come with matte invisframe wrap but some guys are opting for the gloss wrap which from some pics looks quite good and unique.

Your feedback would be appreciated.

I’d stay with Matte if it was me.

Hi, on my bullit teal i used a zefal skin armour gloss kit, the result is excellent

Got matte on mine, looks great! Did the wrap myself, so it isnt perfect. But with gloss it would pissibly annoy me id there were little “cracks” left with the original matte shining through

I’m looking at buying a powermore for my incoming Bullit..
Do it! I’ve only needed it a couple times but it works a treat and seems sturdy enough. I found the 150mm cable was too short . I could attach it but it was totally taut! I had to stretch it to connect it lol. 250mm is too long but seems to stay out of the way

CRazy how little grease is in the headset from factory - opened mine up this morning as it was creaking like mad on last night's ride and it had absolutely zero grease in there - I'm amazed it had gone for the 6 rides or so that I've done without creaking to be honest!

Worth doing before you ride it if you're about to take delivery of one

Hi everybody,
I've had my new Bullit for a few weeks now and yes what an awesome bike.
I can hear a knocking noise coming from within the frame when descending on chunky terrain.
I've tried to replicate the noise when it's stationary but I can't. Taking it back to the bike shop seems pointless of i can't replicate the noise.
Anyone had similar issues please?

I have a clicking noise when pedaling. I think it is from the motor mounts. I heard the Valance frame holes were too big for the Bosch mounting bushes. Hope it’s not the same problem on the Bullit.

It’s possibly the plastic blanking plate on the top tube. Mine is the same and others have commented similar noises. Apparently greasing it a bit will work but I’m not too fussed as I’ll no doubt end up buying the new screen in a month.

had exactly the same issue after ~12 rides. Made a loud cracking sound during descent and when punching down hard on the bars. I pulled the upper and lower bearings out, cleaned and greased and now it’s silent.

Been riding my Bullit on alpine rides and steep fall line singletrack. I don’t have the Powermore and have been metering out my support to manage the battery. Haven’t ridden over 2.5hrs on it yet.

Main modifications for my bike are 75mm rise Renthal bars ( I came off a RAAW Madonna with a high stack), Maven ultimates and I swapped the wheels for Reserves with DTSwiss 350 hubs. What a rig! I’m riding so much more with the e assist.

I had the Float X shock with the bike and had ridden with it a few times before putting on a take off x2 from a 2026 Bullit. There was an improvement in the first 50% of the stroke as someone else had said on here. This was based on the Santa Cruz settings which I felt was ok.

I had been offered a Gen 4 Levo on demo and was happy to take them up on the offer. The biggest take away I had from that demo was how good that Genie shock was and how plush that bike felt at 150mm travel compared to the Bullit.

Since that ride I had been putting a lot of time into setting the X2 up better. After seeing the Loam Wolf review and their feedback of the rear end being harsh / stiff in the initial part of the stroke this was what I had been feeling also. Opening the high speed compression all the way out has made a big difference. I'm just working on the rebound now to get it into a place where I'm not thinking about that Levo shock as much.

I'm waiting to see some feed back from coil shocks going onto this bike. I have had X2 shocks in the past and it is easy to get lost in setting them up well. It can feel great at one place and then you are making adjustments if you ride a different trail.

interesting! Yeah I hear you… setting up the X2 can be a pain. Just got the float x where I want it, though messing with the settings a lot for different needs on the trail is starting to annoy me.
Im trying to decide if I want to upgrade to the X2 or to an öhlins coil. Probably going for the coil though, since I can always switch out for the float x if needed, I guess. And less of a pain to dial in …

The Ohlins coil was the shock that would be on the top of my list to try. I don't think the X2 is that much of an improvement to warrant the purchase but I picked it up for a good price and it looks good matched up to my factory forks.

Yeah, makes a lot of sense! To get a new X2 (plus tune) would cost me basically the same as the öhlins, even a little more lol. Insane tbh..

Did you find the problem? I think I'm getting something similar in my Bullit.

Bullit V4 - bolt torques

Can anyone please tell me or where to find the torque figures for the Bullit? Particularly the frame and pivot bolting points?

I can’t seem to see them in the manuals provided, nor are they labelled on the bolts themselves.

The stem, handlebars, and a few others are labelled with their torques but not the main big ones.

Thanks
