I'm also having difficulty getting SZZS to help with a dead m820. How old is your motor? Did they outright refuse the warranty?

Initially SZZS was very helpful with my DOA m820, but less than a year later it has died again, and they've just been stringing me along for the last two months. If this is part of a bigger problem with the company, we should probably get the word out so people can make an informed desicion before buying.

The gear is available from Greenbikekit.com. I have bought spares. I also got a spare M820 from Greenbikekit.com. Anna is very responsive. The M820 is warrantied from Bafang for 2 years. The question would be what warranty comes with the replacement?

Hey did you end up finding a solution to this problem? I find that I have a he same issue with the motor cutting out briefly then coming back on. It's usually when I'm in boost mode but I've still had it occasionally happen in other modes.

The M820 was never intended to be used in Boost for extended periods. It will cut-out if it gets too hot after an extended period of boost use.

Had a few of those motors,never seen it failed before.

Thats good it will cut out. Seen many firmwares which does not cut out at all. )
Even with M820 it is reporting in some firmwares funny temperatures.

I'm not sure if it's the latest PRO model, as there's no badge, but the cable connector is different from the one I got two years ago. When I drove it, it displayed 600W at 48V. The vehicle speed sensor and magnet are the same as before. I couldn't install the 36, 43, and 48V firmware I had. I also couldn't install faketaxi.

I'm currently investigating, but this doesn't seem to be a professional model. It appears to be the second-generation m820. The cable connection has changed, but the sensor and magnet remain the same as when it was first announced. The riding feel is slightly more powerful than the previous model. There's a slight rattling sound when starting and stopping, but the volume is low.

The Pro version apparently uses this sensor. The second-generation M820, with its modified cable, might require internal circuit board modifications, similar to the 510, to allow for voltage changes and other adjustments.

Yep, it is the FC5.0 and firmware version 1.0 (Torque sensor hw 3.7 and fw 1.1). I think with this new controller, you will be able now to set Max power, Acceleration and important Support level % per each PAS level, like with M560.

So did it come with this new speed sensor with 42 holes?

Yep, It will be showing you very high speed or nothing. Firmware is counting with just one impulse per revolution.

You can use it with a single magnet and it works just like the old speed sensor. The INNOTRACE controllers can use that sensor no problem.

Good morning everyone, I think I've made a mess, I connected my M820 to the Besst to read the parameters but I did it with the battery almost completely flat with this result: no reading possibility, permanent error 30 and 0% charge indicator that flashes, it is not even possible to turn off the system with the power button but only by removing the green oval connector from the display... any ideas on how to proceed?

The EBICS developer has already discovered the power limitation of the M820 controller board, that of only having 6 FETs handling the power whereas the M510 / M560 has 12. I wonder if this latest board Bafang has gone to may have the 12 setup of M510, there certainly seems too many M820 motors having to replace the boards as per my one to not change to the known setup that works.

Not sure mate, if has 12 now. But should be enough also 6 of them (not sure now if same MOSFETs as on M510/M560). Also blue M500 controllers had 6. Theres max 15A with M820, check the temperature of controller, after some long hill, what you gonna reach.

As you know your widget won't display the controller temp on the DPC245's as discussed with you. Bafang doesn't display the controller board temp, not sure how we can display the temp, open to suggestions here ? Maybe a small bit of development on the widget could solve it as I think the controller board temp is on a different CAN bit.

It comes up max figure, I can’t remember what the figure was. On the EBICS thread only the controller has a temp sensor and not the motor on the M820, I’ll see if I can locate the point in the thread it was discussed later today.

Please help. I have an LCE930 bike with an m820 motor and originally had a Bafang 410 Wh battery. I made a DIY 12s3p battery. I used LG M58T 21700 cells. The capacity should be around 720 Wh.
I tested it for a few charge cycles. Now I have a problem. The motor controller thinks the battery is still 410 Wh. Also, I cannot get below 50% of the battery capacity (on the BMS).
Here is the comparison (Display % / BMS app %):

• 90 / 90
• 70 / 70
• 66 / 64
• 54 / 57
• 44 / 55
• 20 / 55 (after 5 days of no use)

I looked into the Bafang app and the display settings. I cannot find any option to change the battery capacity. Has anyone seen this problem before?

Hey folks, I'm stranded on an MTB trip with a dead bike and I hope you all can help.

My bike will turn on fine. I can select any power level. Battery is at 100%. The speedometer works. However, I have zero power output from the motor. I've pulled the motor, re-seated all of the connections, but no luck. All updates had already been performed and the bike was working great earlier today. I also disconnected the battery for about a minute in hopes of resetting. No improvement.

Now I'm sitting in Bentonville with a broken bike while my friends are enjoying the trails. Any help would be much appreciated!

It appears to be because of the Bafang app. I disconnected the app from the bike and the bike works again. I was tipped off when I made tweaks to the power settings and it wouldn't save them consistently.

One information could be helped someone. I have added a switch on my remote- to lock walk mode. If it stayed switch on (or switch by mistake). All function displayed correctely, but motor don't functioning.

I would cautious with the torque/Amps increase in m820 motor as the nylon gears are starting to fail. My one failed after a few rides in boost.
