Santa Cruz Vala

I guess I was lucky. I was going to go with eBike24 but decided to go with eBay. I had understood that there were no tariffs under $800. Mine as $287 total shipped via FedEx from Italy with no other charges.

I'm 5'8" and no way I'd size up to a large.

Further update: UPS hit me with a $184 ($170!!! in tariffs & $14 in brokerage fees) customs fee. I went ahead and paid it because I knew I was taking a risk ordering from oversees, but goddamn that's insane. Would not recommend doing that. Thanks Donald...
You got screwed no tariff on items under $800 until 8/29/25

Yeah I will try to appeal but there's no details on how they arrived at the number on the web tracking. I figure I need the customs documents when I receive it to call UPS and try to fight about it.

I ordered one from Ridewill in Italy, it shipped FedEx. Price was $210 shipped, hoping for no tariff will know in a few days...

Did anyone in between sizes decide to go with the bigger size? I am 5'8.5" so Im really borderline M/L. I demoed a large and the reach felt good, but it did feel a little less agile. Might be something to get used to.
I'm 5,8 and I like large bikes but this vala in M size is large enough for stable downhill bombing and agile enough to turn in corners like crazy :)
I thing Large would be too hard to manage on larger variety of trails.

I contacted Santa Cruz directly about the Kiox 400c displays yesterday and said that they will be messaging existing Vala owners with a link/method to purchase the display at a substantial discount. Make sure your bike is registered through the Owners Club to ensure you receive the email for the display. No timeline yet, but they said it should be very soon.

That's cool but it sure would have been nice if they mentioned that at the announce before people went out and got them on their own.

I wouldn't be surprised if they only recently figured out (or are still figuring out) what can actually be offered in this regard. It'd be worse to promise something they're ultimately unable to deliver.

Hi. Has anyone an idea of the insertion lenght for a dropper in size L? As I need the Oneup droppper in another bike, I would try to put in a reverb AXS in 250mm

I have seen the calculator in Santa Cruz website, somehow I am too stupid or it doesn't work :D

I have a large Bullit and was able to slam a 225 AXS dropper. I think bullit and Vala are fairly similar

No Tariff from Ridewill / FedEx.

I also got the email with discount code for Kiox 400c from Santa Cruz, guess I should have waited a couple days and could have saved $20.

Anyway if someone wants my code just send me a DM.

SC Owner's Club email this morning said that there will also be a limited edition purple XTR build if that's your thing, available only from dealers.
My shop showed me a pic of it. Looked cool but I ended up ordering a gloss grey xo rsv build. They also confimred that it would ship with the new kiox display. I was strongly considering a Bullit but I rode it around the parking lot and it just felt giant and super raked out. Looking forward to the Vala!

Had a Rail sold it for a Vala. Bought the Rail based off influencers and how great they all said it was, it was a pile. The Santa Cruz is just a better bike, you can swap all the components you want but the frame handling and looks can’t be changed. I just won’t spend my money on another Trek and nobody is paying MSRP for a new bike if you can’t get 10-20% off you are doing something wrong.

That's cool but it sure would have been nice if they mentioned that at the announce before people went out and got them on their own.
True dat, I’ve already ordered mine from Germany shipped to Australia should have it in a few days , cba waiting till q4 .

Managed to get lucky on a KIOX 400C from Santa Cruz shipped to Canada with the member club discount mentioned above - all in price of $262 CAD! Can’t wait to get it.

Been very happy with the Vala - have the GX AXS version since Oct 2024 - logged close to 2600km so far - hoping to hit 3000 by Oct end ;)

Posted the same question on the bosch motor thread but I didn´t get an answers, maybe fellow Vala owners have noticed the same fenomen..
On my Vala the overrun seems to behave strangely.
If i turn the cranks about 1/4 of a turn, the overrun begins and stops and then there seems the be a delayed second kick of the overrun.
You tube link
With sound on you can hear the delayed boost kick and even see it on the video when the camera shakes.
This happens with emtb and emtb+ modes.
Anyone else noticed the same behaviour?

Anyone got the link for the discounted Kiox 400 display from Santa Cruz?

It looks to be sold out now ;( But each email sent has a unique code to the user … I would just email their customer service and see what can be done that route (ultimately that is what I wound up doing)

Anyone got the link for the discounted Kiox 400 display from Santa Cruz?
I emailed them the other week had no reply, so f it I paid full wack from ebike24 Germany to Australia 4 days later it's installed.

Does anyone know how to use the tool that presses in and removes the bush as there are 2 parts to the tool, I'm curious.

Unsurprisingly, Ridewill have sold out of the Kiox 400c.

Edited: Now back in stock but 15 Euros more...

Supply and demand I guess, I was lucky enough to get one from Germany to Australia, however here most shops are quoting Q4 , I clearly didn’t want to wait and had it within 4 days, completes the look.
