Strive:ON problems

Today I went out and stuffed a microfiber cloth between the motor and battery. Not sure if it helped any, but no issues with the bike. My Tobias fix is in the post...

So. At the weekend I landed my Strive off a jump into a rock garden and the inevitable happened. Heard an immediate loud clunking sound, power turned off. Latch had come loose and therefore battery disconnected.

Contacted Canyon just to ask again when the new improved latch will be ready. I have been assured that the final solution has now been thoroughly tested and I have one being shipped direct to me. Upon receipt, I am taking my bike to a local (hours drive) Canyon service partner and they will fit the latch and also ensure the top mount (not motor end) is fitted correctly.

I have the ‘order is in picking’ confirmation email, and dispatch will be within 1-5 working days.

Once I receive the new latch I will post a photo here. Probably won’t receive it until the New Year due to Christmas holidays etc, but at least it looks like the new latch is finally on its way
 
I was set on buying the Strive:ON but the fix came too late and now I have already placed an order for the YT Decoy.
 
I received the solution with the top battery conexión changed and the close latch. I don’t know if it is the final solution. Because of this I have bought the Tobias gadget and install it. And the tie trick just in case.
 
Well, after 80km, I am among the unfortunate owners of a Strive with battery issues.

I took the battery out today to charge it, and since then, I can't start the bike; the LEDs light up and then go out. However, the battery doesn't seem to have any play, and nothing appears damaged.

For those who have had this problem, when you plug in your bike, do you get the charging indication on the frame or not?
 
assuming the bike worked OK before you removed the battery....and the battery out of the bike charged OK ......I would think the battery has failed to make a good connection with the plug at the top of the downtube. It would be worth checking it is properly secured to the downtube.

It's easier than it seems, with the battery removed (obviously), there are 2 bolts on the downtube upper side, towards the head tube, those release the connector, then it's a matter of fishing it out, to make it easier, I removed the lower bracket that actually holds the battery, so your arm has more space, and remove the cover of the track that holds the connector cable so you can pull it out, and in reverse order to get everything back together

MBR discuss the latch issue in this video from 14.54 and state a fix has been produced , an additional bolt on component to the battery

Interesting as well that they suggest refitting the battery with the bike turned upside down and do a series of pushing the last 20mm or so a few times to ensure correct connection to the main plug, before closing the latch. They experienced the motor cut outs and subsequently a damaged latch. I also found it curious that the video showing that battery refitting looked like the last 20mm was spring loaded. It made me wonder if all the problems folk have experienced are in fact a result of not reconnecting the battery fully because it is not guided correctly unless the bike is upside down.

My latch came loose again yesterday, this time just on a rooty bumpy drop, nothing severe. The battery is fitted properly, bike has to be upside down otherwise it would be a right hassle. I also have a supposedly fix fitted which I bought off a guy from the StriveOn Facebook group. Latch comes loose, battery disconnects, bike loses power.

I have the new latch being dispatched from Canyon in Germany on its way via UPS but have seen on the Facebook group that another guy that thought he was receiving the new latch received the standard latch this morning 🤷🏽‍♂️

I don't have answers...just questions!! What is curious for me is that I have a Whyte e160 RSX with Bosch Smart system ...so 750w/h battery secured by the same latch and I have never had either the cutting out problem or damage to the latch....and I can insert the battery with the bike upright hanging from a bike stand. The only difference I can see is that my bike uses the full Bosch rail system.

When was yours dispatched from Canyon ? Did you receive delivery today ? I’ve only had the following from the UPS tracking page, but it has been Christmas so wasn’t expecting anything too quick:

This isn’t mine. It was a picture posted on the Facebook group by the Service and Warranty manger for Canyon in the UK.
I’ve just logged a warranty email with Canyon requesting a new latch unit to be sent to me.

Never took off the battery, and the latch started doing its stuff @1.000km (give or take).

What it seems to shorten the life of the latch, it's jumps, drops and roudy trails!

So, if you don't want problems, stick to coastal paths... ahahahah

My bike has done well over 1400 kms on trails with jumps and drops etc........think I have taken the battery out 2 or 3 times so faR, but mostly dont need to.
I hope the new latch shown above improves matters............my reservation is that the modification makes the latch less vulnerable to abuse from the battery, but does not deal with the "cause" of that abuse, which is battery movement. Maybe the new latch is only a part of the complete fix with more to come.

And by pure coincidence just received a delivery update, hopefully I’ll have the new updated latch on Wednesday 3rd January

My issue is different to that. I don’t have that movement, the latch disconnects from the metal plate that the latch clips into as the latch mechanism doesn’t clip firmly into place when pushing down

Yes for me it’s the connector in the frame the problem.
He is Broke.
Canyon send another one, and after I hope everything works.
I can talk with Canyon France, they advise to me, to not Unplug battery for have less problems.
