This is correct I had one fitted yesterday, only took 15mins or so but I agree that Specialised could have just sent us the cable. They seem to insist on only dealers fitting them, even though the instructions are available online. (workshop guide) I would still get it done though as it looks a much better sealed cable. The weather is rubbish for riding right now anyway so had nothing better to do! There was nothing wrong with my the old one but its only right that we should have the latest version and it does offer more protection from the lovely British weather! :)

Finally had my free service yesterday, I'd asked them to supply a new cable, but they insisted on fitting it and sending the old one back to Specialised.

I had a look today, it is new, says version 3 on invoice, and its fitted as in the illustration posted. Hopefully there won't be any issues with it.

I also asked about the new TCU mentioned elsewhere, but they didn't know anything about it.

After yet another power cable failure on Saturday I had my second replacement power cable fitted to my 2019 (5 months old) Turbo Levo today by the lads at Pearce Cycles.
They fitted it with the new mark III cable, Spesh had sent them new cables to replace the older ones in all there current Levo stock.
My old one (mark II) had cracked again at the plug end where it attaches to the motor. Hopefully this new power cable does the trick, it definitely appears to fit better in the motor housing and requires less movement where it attaches to the battery.
 
Following an exchange of 3 emails with Tredz they posted me out the new cable for me to fit myself. Good Service really.
 
Well.....on Wednesday my 6 month old Levo finally suffered most of the faults featured in this thread! :mad:

The bike initially wouldn’t turn on. Cleaned sockets etc, to no avail.

Finally it turned on when I closed the battery plug.
Happy days! Was at a bike park doing pedal up......got to the top of the hill no problem. On the way down.....bike switched itself off.
Took some fiddling.....but eventually power was restored. It failed again heading down.
This went on for a while until eventually the bike wouldn’t turn on at all.
Throughout all this there was no visual indication of a fault at all!

Finished the morning & headed back dow to load up. Rang the local Specialized Shop & they said drop it in! While I was on the phone, the bike turned itself on showing the fault lights for “motor error”.
Dropped in at 1307 on the Wednesday.
They rang Friday to say bike was all fixed “come & get it!”
I picked it up today......I asked what they’d found & the guy on the desk said the mechanic had left notes for me......was not expecting all they did!! :oops:

Happy days! :cool:

Good grief - TCU, motor and cable!

Are you the first to get the holy trinity of Levo's in one foul swoop?
 
Just had same on my 2019 levo. 5 months old, 300 miles. Put away after ride and wash (and always dry off). Got out and wouldn't turn on, faintest flash of light from tcu when pressed.
Took to local specialized dealer Tavs cycles, isle of wight Wednesday afternoon, they looked at it and let me know later in the day that some parts were being sent from specialized, called this afternoon to say all swapped and working. Superb service (albeit for something that shouldn't happen).
Asked what did when just collected it, they said replaced tcu and the main power lead! Asked to look at old lead and was same as others on here and cracked up on the 90bend on inside.
Will take side off at weekend to check got latest version of lead.
 
does anyone know if they have fixed the problem with the power cable if i order a new levo ?

Not sure what cable they are fitting in the new Levo's, but you can check if/when you get the bike. The latest is version 3, and Spesh will change it if you ask. I had mine done a couple of weeks ago. Haven't heard of any problems with the version 3 cable either.

Good idea, you could ask them to change it before you pick it up if it arrives without the latest version. I, and others have had the cable changed, even though we have not had any issues with the one fitted, it gives peace of mind and its good to know there haven't been issues with the version 3. Enjoy the bike if you get it, I love mine :)
 
Lately I'm getting this error in MC (in combination with flashing leds), is this power cable failure related? I have never disconnected or charged the battery in less than 5 sec from switching off the TCU, honestly I'm not that fast :ROFLMAO:

But it does presumably mean that there is a poor battery connection so could be either the power cable or the cable connection to the battery. You do not say what year the bike is but if it has the older power cable it is a 5 minute job to remove the crank and motor cover to check it.
 
It is 2020 model bought in September so I guess it has v1 cable, the newest seems to be v3? Cable connection to the battery is clean, dry and without any damages.

Probably the v2 which tended to suffer damage at the motor plug end of the cable. Certainly worth checking

I posted this error message a few days ago, not had a response as yet.

I always wait at least 5 seconds before doing anything, but have to say I have not had any issues with the bike.

Not sure if its cable related, as mine now has the v3 cable

I marked the error as resolved and have not had the message since, or had any issues with the bike.

I have not seen any instruction like that in the manual but it makes sense that the Lan circuit needs a few seconds to shut down before the power source is switched off. The fact that it warns motor power will be removed and a reset required if the process is repeated is very similar in context to the Bosh gen 4 anti hacking script. Are these bikes hacked?

Mine is standard apart from the 36T chainring. I could't find anything in the manual either.

Both LBS and manual say 36T os okay to fit, anything larger affects the torque sensor apparently.
 
On Friday out riding bike kept turning off plus I was having trouble getting it to come back on bike shop put a new lead on all fine now.
 
I've just recently discovered I have power cable issues on my 1 year old S Works Levo as well. The 90 degree plug has split open and the wires are exposed as per many others on this forum. I had the motor stop on me going through a stream with red and blue LEDs flashing. I had to ride about 10 kms back without any power. It took a day of drying out to get it going again. It was when I pulled the crank and cover off that I saw the damaged cable. I took the bike in for a service and told them about the cable the mechanic told me I would have to pay for a new one. From what I have read here and my understanding ,this should be covered under the warranty. Its a defective part. I haven't picked the bike up from the shop yet but I'm not happy. Love the bike by the way.

I'm sure Specialized would replace that under warranty. I know it shouldn't make any difference but you've spent serious money on the S-Works model which they have an even greater profit margin in. You should be getting 5 star treatment! The mechanic that said you'd have to pay for that.... was that the same place you bought the bike from just out of interest?
 
first ride - first failure:
in the app, there were no velocity displayed when I was riding, so at home i checked the speed sensor for problems.
the speed sensor cable has a loose contact directly on the connector, sometimes it works now, sometimes not. So it has to be replaced under warrenty.

I read the threads about the problems of the levos and was always scared of getting stucked in the outback.
But I never thought that the bike would not even last 30km!!!

The Levo I bought from early December didn't have the very last cable version, however that bike had other issues and I had to exchange it.

My new bike was built on Dec 13, 2019 and it does have the latest version of the power cable. I found out because I cracked the brittle plastic that covers the motor and I could see the cable inside.

Yes it was the same shop I purchased it from and to be fair they are normally good. I just called them to pick up the bike and they said it was covered under warranty, so thats good news. It sounds like it was replaced with the version 2 cable. Its possible the version 3 may not be available in New Zealand yet. I'll check to make sure it's been routed correctly and inspect it occasionally just to make sure it's not going the same way as the previous cable.
Has anyone here upgraded to the 4 screw motor cover and if so was it an expensive upgrade?

Did some searching but can't find a list of builds and running changes. Any idea what ver cable is in my bike?

It would probably not be the latest version of the cable as I had a bike built just before December and it didn't have it. My exchange bike from December does.
