Hybridizer Sann Bafang M500 series Aluminum FS

Here is an exploded image of the linkage. Note there is also a roller bearing I forgot about NA6900.

The "buy" option is now gone from the hybridizer sann page. They said a redesign is coming up for DJI motor, but I'll be surprised if it happens.

I emailed them last week about the "bread power" conversion and haven't heard anything. I'm kicking myself for not buying it when I ordered the frame last summer.

You only have to activate the bike once. Other than that I’d say the app is pretty useless.

I did have an issue with the 4E error (not activated) and had to reset Bluetooth in the app and Hybridizer had to clear me off their system, but other than that I did 1500km without needing to reactivate until I replaced the battery and had to do it again.

I peeled the sticker off when the bike was new and attached it to a piece of card because I figured the sticker would come off eventually.

I also keep a photo of it on my phone just in case I ever needed it, but I haven’t.
Hey guys, let me explain what I discovered about this point. It actually doesn't activate if I start pedaling with it off and turn it on while I'm pedaling. As soon as I turn it on, it starts at level 3. I have to reset it, pedal a few meters, then increase the level to level 1 and then change it normally. I believe it's some kind of protection. I found it interesting.

That seems like some weird behaviour. Mine always (annoyingly) started at level 3. Sometimes I’d have to pedal backwards a little to get assistance from the start but never had a problem like how you describe.

Here is a quick update on my new battery build. Instead of a 13S3P, I was able to design a custom battery, that allows 14S4P. I used tabless 21700 cells, called Ampace JP40, that can deliver high discharge currents of up to 60A (or 140A for 5s). I have 4 in parallel, so if my motor draws 3000W, it would be ~60A, split across 4 cells, so ~15A each. :) Bafang M560 can only draw up to 30A, so it's only ~7.5A per cell and gives me a lot of range, eventhough I go full throttle!

Cellholders are custom 3D-printed and cell connectors are CNC cut. To give the pack some strength, I use bicycle spokes to tie it together. :)

Hey guys, I have a question about the throttle control. Can I replace it with a smaller one by purchasing it on AliExpress, or is it blocked because the display is specific and uses the brand's own firmware? I'd like to exchange it for another one.

This is the remote not throttle. It’s a different connector to the Bafang controls that I’ve seen, I tried a friends.

I was looking at changing to the DK430, which will likely work because it is the same manufacturer (Toplology), but could only find them for bulk order from Chinese supplier.

You could ask Chilli Shen at Fieldebikes, she is usually very good at finding out if something is available or not.

BTW, I had the remote on the left of bar, a much more natural position, and out of all the bikes I’ve ridden, including my Amflow, I found the SANN one (DK428) to feel the best on trail.

Happy hunting.

For the throttle: Yes you can use any 5V e-scooter throttle with female HIGO 3-pin. Common are Star Union Wuxing FT-21X, 130X, 140X, 300X.

For the remote: Yes, you can only use DK428 or DK430. Or you diy something: For that you need a remote, that has 4 buttons and a 6-pin connector. Then you measure the correct pin-mapping with a multimeter and replace the connector (Display=Male, Remote=Female).

I wasn't able to find the original name of the connector (most likely from HIGO), but there are copies from Lernew (DK428+DK430 have them), Julet (JL-F39-Z608JG / JL-F39-Z608JM) and Mutual.

Custom 14S4P finished. ✅ It was very hard to sort out all the wire routing and 3-dimensional constraints, but I was able to make it work. 😁 It barely fits and I'm still able to install/remove the motor. That's the ultimate battery from my dreams come true! 🔥

I even had to machine some custom parts on the CNC, to connect the spokes, that give the pack its strength and to make the copper cell connectors. This battery required intensive problem-solving and thinking ahead.

Great work! Keep us updated when you have some ideas of the range

@Tjhell yeah most-likely very soon, as I'm about to head out for my summer vacation trip. I will temporarily install a 3x3 and test it in the trails. I hope it won't be too heavy, otherwise I'll switch back to cassette+derailleur. 3x3 has electric shifting and they are the only one that offers a proper shifting lever for EMTB!

good job. I recommend it.
Comment on autonomy when testing.

Hope about a short report.
I want to switch to 3x3, too.
Cassette and derailleur drives me cracy more and more...

Then go for it! :) I like my 3x3. Only downside is the mass in the rear, which makes it feel a little less agile. However, its durable and shifting electrically is awesome! Still waiting to get my hands on the new shifter, that I mentioned earlier.

9 gears sound not much, but they are more than enough, when running 3x3 + ebike. Best of all, the 3x3 is internally differently geared, so a lot smaller chain rings can be used in the front! Results in more ground-clearance.

Thanks,
I'll try it. Still some projects to do, but I will...
Looks like you mounted the new M5x0 RS motor (different Speed sensor)

Hello everyone. This forum helped me build my Sann last year. I appreciate the knowledge. Has anyone fitted the Bafang DP-C030 to their Sann yet?

Am I correct in seeing that the bike has a UDH mount? The rear triangle is still tight and doesn't wobble after 3000 km; I haven't had to tighten anything. My only problem is the low bottom bracket height. I frequently hit the pedals. 155 mm cranks have helped, but it still feels odd to ride.

This is excellent, thanks for posting! Did you change the remote as well and have you found any compatibility concerns with the new display and the Sann’s motor/battery?

Yes, you have to use the remote control for the display. The original one doesn't work. I haven't used the M510 that Hybridizer supplied for a long time. Currently, I'm driving an M600. But I'll be installing my M560RS from my Dengfu this weekend.

Im quite happy with the results. Thanks for your help Blue83.
I still need to take a bit more material from the bottom corners of the cut I made as it makes the screen insert tightly and shows a tiny gap at the bottom. Simple fix. Cant wait til it’s above 20 degrees outside 🥶

Hi everyone. I was thinking about repainting my Sann. I created the graphics to make some stickers to project the paint. What do you think? Generate from Gemini...

Hello guys.
Has anyone ever replaced these? Do you know if these ones work? Or if you know of any others up to 160mm, preferably 155mm?

My new display also arrived. I didn't have the courage to cut the frame to make it bigger. First, I'll do some tests with this improvised stand, and then I'll try a solution with a 3D printer to make a more stylish, custom stand.

My idea is to do something similar to this.
