Since no one bothered to reply, the answer is : 400 mm or 450 mm to make it a little easier to assemble with the engine fitted

You can use regular stem, and spacers. It's a classic 1 1/8" steerertube.

Nope, just take it all off and leave the big plastic headset top on.

I noticed my Zeb steerer tube has some wear on the black coating at the level of the top of the headset.

@Rando_12345 do you still have the 'wear' issue on the steerer? I dropped my Fox 38 off at Fox today and they said mine had excessive wear in the same place on my steerer to the extent that one side had a small groove in it. They say it is typically caused by ill fitting or incorrectly designed headsets.

Check your fork steerer tubes guys! Fox today confirmed mine is fecked due to dodgy headset - most likely the crappy upper bearing compression ring not doing its job properly and causing wear. New fork time for me .

Ouch, havn't taken mine out in a while, but the headset does crack under heavy braking despite tighter than usual headset screw (presumably required to hold all the part together).

Took the plunge and retro fitted the Kiox 400 in place of the Purion. Just a shame the ugly surround lets it down a bit, but it does look sleeker and tidies the bars up a bit.

Easybikeparts.co.uk have replacement alloy upper assemblies with holes for cable routing.

They don't have a replacement that works currently. They are manufacturing one for the one44/one77 that does.

Just back from Fox UK. I ended up having a new CSU and took advantage of discounts to upgrade the damper to Grip x2 along with the air spring. Basically 95% of a factory fork at a decent price without the kashima.

Another area to just check - At 1700 miles this main pivot bearing had failed on my one77. I had all the other frame /horst link bearings replaced too. I can tell you now it was an absolute ball-ache to change them!

Thanks for the heads up. That’s probably the tipping point for me to just pay my LBS to replace them when the time comes rather than doing it myself

I ordered the new bearing kit in advance and when it arrived, I saw how some of the bearings were designed and then decided to get my local bike guru to do them as you need specialist pullers etc. I watched him do it and the amount of cursing going on.

it took him 2 hours to change all 14 bearings. I'm glad he did it and not me!

definitely blind pullers of various sizes but he used a variety of tools from what I saw.
