Bafang M560

Filip from FB already got them. And is steel.
Yeah. That's his photo. Weird that he says in his post that they are PEEK gears... 🤔 Maybe Bafang isn't so sure about the durability of the PEEK gears 😅

Thats betamotors. ;)

And comes with new speed disc sensor. Is again some funny Bafang solution. Look at that small box, which looks like speed chip. So u would need somehow glue the sensor to frame, if you dont have good rear frame.

If would PEEK hold 28A we can be happy. My guess is to have sligthly more Watts than DJI. ;)

So the same noise levels as M560 ?? That would be a disappointment...
The production version will probably have the PEEK gear and be quieter, it’s just this early beta one that supposedly is still all steel.

Ah good, so fingers crossed then :) Do you know if it will be compatible with battery used with M560 ? I would consider a change if reviews will be good for this one.

So after the RS components become available as spares a normal m560 could be converted to an RS

Yes of course.

So far seems so. Just different speed sensor so make sure it fits the frame. Chili shen is selling both motors for the same price.

Some ziptie holders atleast would be welcome but it can be fixed with gluing a plate with holes to achieve it

What’s the difference between m560rs and m560 except the peek gear? Overall weight or the power?
Updated sensors as well. It’ll have the new disc style speed sensor with more points per revolution like was shown with the M510RS

Chili said m560 RS is 500w and not 750w like the old motor...? 🤔
I’m somewhat confused why they would even bother having both the M510 and M560 in the RS version. The M510 RS is supposed to peak in the 750W range and has over 100Nm of torque, meaning it’s on par with the other full power big name players. I can’t picture what the specs of a 500W M560 RS would be that would even justify another motor in the lineup. Seems like anyone wanting a “normal” motor would get the M510 RS and anything higher would be in the 750W territory with the silly amounts of power.

Well with the normal m560 motor it's just different controller. Everything else is the same. But yes I agree. I don't understand why they would have 500w version even available. Maybe it's because 750w is too much power for the motor and keeps breaking so they try to push people toward 500w 😅

I wish they could make the m560 as durable as bbshd... You can run that motor at 1500w for years without having any problems and it's really silent as well.

It’s not even a different controller, the hardware is completely the same, just different firmware. I suspect they’ll maybe ditch the 750W version all together and just have the two RS motors. Maybe the M560 RS will be tweaked to slightly higher specs than the current 500W.

Those numbers are all meaningless anyway, all that really matters are the peak numbers. The “250W” M510 RS will be peaking at triple its listed power. If the M560 RS peaks anywhere over 1000W it’ll probably perform like the current 750W version. Guess we’ll see what the current limit is set to once more specs are out. Having 3 different full power motors is excessive, so I can see them consolidating down to 2 with the RS move. They should have taken the opportunity to switch to a standard ISIS crank as well like on the M820. I hate that they use an oddball Bafang specific crank.

Yeah you are right. It's just a firmware.

Current m560 750w peaks around 1150w and 130Nm if I remember correctly. They said m560 RS would have 140Nm. I hope that Bafang would improve their documents and data as well as give proper updates etc now that they are trying to push more towards general public.

The M560 engine is for the USA, there is a different engine power allowed there

They sell it anywhere someone wants to buy it. The US generally accepted limit is 750W peak, but the M560 well exceeds that. They didn’t really design it with any specific regulations in mind, it’s just a very powerful motor.

Chili Shen said that m560 750w is 140Nm and m560 RS 500w 160-170Nm...?

The silly nominal wattage ratings are truly useless. Keep in mind the DJI motor that is somehow rated for 250W peaks at 1000W and 120Nm. The industry needs to move on from ever mentioning “nominal” power again and just standardize on peak.

I wonder if that motor is so powerfull how could it have peek gears? With that power they would melted down I’m afraid, or?
Definitely seems like there could be issues with it, I wouldn’t trust it if it were me. I know there were plenty of reports of people stripping out the PEEK gear in those M600s with the crazy 2000W Luna Ludicrous controller.

That "nominal rating 250W" is gone now. No manufacturer is mentioning this nonsense anymore, but rather we specifying peak mechanical output. Thanks God. ;)

That M560RS 500W is strange. I can explain just by 500W law for USA. And maybe to use "plastic" gear which would not stand more power. Will be a shame if RS wont be in 750W version (or little more).

And to M510 power. Bafang is writing 36V and 21 Amps. Which will be cca 800W peak electrical input. And this is cca 640w on a wheel, so we still little behind new Bosch. (Bosch was measured 685W at the wheel - )

Don’t a lot of people run 48V on the M510 though? What’s the current limiter on that firmware? 17-18A?

48V is with 14 Amps at M510 (so cca same peak power as with 36V and 19A). I guess they will raise current a little with RS version.

More voltage is better, you reaching higher rotor RPMs so also little more top speed.

If they say m560 RS 500w has 160-170Nm torque how much would it gain as 750w version? 🤔 What other benefits are there between 500w and 750w version?

I don’t think there would possibly be a higher version. 160-170Nm is about a 25% increase over the current one they originally listed as 130Nm. That would put the total peak output around 1500W (Current one is about 1200W). That’s a crazy amount of power for a little mid drive and amount of abuse to put on the drivetrain. They’re probably just consolidating to a single M560 motor and decided to settle on the 500W name, which is just as silly as listing the current DJI as a 250W seeing as the motor would peak at 3x that “500W” number.

The only difference on the current 500W and 750W motor is a simple current limiter change in the firmware. With the M510 becoming much more powerful with the RS version it makes sense to go down to a single M560 motor which will be the sort of hot rod motor while the M510 will be the one for people trying to keep legal on power limits and have something a little lighter weight.

Not sure. They messing it with that numbers. Higher torque means also still higher total peak power. (Can be cheated by higher internal gear ratio - but then you lovering max caddence).

DJI has also 1200W electrical input.

I am little sceptical about 1500W for M560RS - if they wont change stator or make some better cooling. With 1250W now I am getting to temperature limit - 100 degree C (in a hot day). This is also too high, I wouldnt run it over 85C.

The only thing I want to see are plastics gears for M560 motor. Aftermarket, I don't care. It's strange they are not out for this motor. I would trade the higher power for more silence on the road. And I'm willing to replace if needed :)
