Can see me replacing my Druid E with whatever MGU Forbidden bike arrives![]()
Needs a bigger chain tensioner
I mean you'll continue to comment and make BS claims about whatever actually comes out without even seeing or riding it anywayI think everyone should sort of chill out and just buy their current favorite bike.
For sure technology continues to march on, but IF this stuff even turns out to be an actual improvement, you are looking at 3-5 years before it's proven and you can actually purchase it in your favorite bike.
You can wait for an eternity for that next big thing. Then you'll be frustrated that it's been shown, but you can't get it for another 8 months.
Just buy a bike and be happy.
Both this and the Gobao, I am almost certain, will be on bikes next year. To me both products do not look that far off production.I think everyone should sort of chill out and just buy their current favorite bike.

I'd bet money that the Avinox system has already had at least a year or two of internal developmentBoth this and the Gobao, I am almost certain, will be on bikes next year. To me both products do not look that far off production.

Maybe they knew Gobao was showing their's? Can you imagine what the show coverage would be like if Gobao was the only player? The Gobao does appear to be ready to go.Have to admit that I'm surprised that Avinox is showing the MGU unless it's REALLY ready for release. Because for a segment of the buying public, they just cancelled their M2 bike orders in mass.
It must be a bit frustrating to be a bike manufacturer these days!
I don't think so. Gobao by all accounts have some former Avinox employees so I'm sure both were aware of what each other had in the pipeline.Odd two companies release ebike motors that are cvt within two days of each other.
That's what I plan to do. I hope a lot of people cancel their orders for M2S bikes so there's more inventory for the rest of us.I think everyone should sort of chill out and just buy their current favorite bike.

really odd. ever heard of eurobike? apparently not.Odd two companies release ebike motors that are cvt within two days of each other.
That wasnt my point. My point is within 2 days two come out with cvt motor. Ebikes and euro bike has been around 20 years. Very odd they both come at the same on at the same time.really odd. ever heard of eurobike? apparently not.
That's not my pointThey weren't released, they were announced. Different.
SRAM![]()
Lots of people have been anticipating something like this and SRAM and Shimano etc must have had an idea it was coming (as well as Bosch and TQ and Specialized and Mahle etc) so they probably have something in the works that needs expediting now. SRAM was already working on motors and then they kind of went quiet, maybe this is why?SRAM![]()
Me too. I noticed the Commencal rep kind of dodged the question.I wonder what the Q factor is? Todays motors are already on the wide side and anything like this is going to be much wider. @Rob Rides EMTB did you notice anything on your test?
Considering the cost of everything is what people are willing to pay; I don't see this technology delivering a less expensive solution to the consumer.Unsure what it would cost to produce this type of motor compared to something like the M2S. If they were the same, then in theory could brands reduce pricing since you're not paying for a cassette & derailleur?
They sure did: https://www.pinkbike.com/news/sram-...n-integrated-12-speed-motor-gearbox-unit.htmlLots of people have been anticipating something like this and SRAM and Shimano etc must have had an idea it was coming (as well as Bosch and TQ and Specialized and Mahle etc) so they probably have something in the works that needs expediting now. This is a bit like Katie Price revealing her much modified baps in the "dodgy as" pseudo news media.
Avinox MG Concept: no derailleur, no cassette, infinite gearing
Avinox has shown its new MG Concept at Eurobike.
MG stands for Motor Gearbox, but the interesting bit is that this isn’t just a normal gearbox motor. From my interview, Avinox described it as using stepless virtual gearing.
That means no traditional rear drivetrain:
The best way to think about it:
- No derailleur
- No cassette
- No fixed mechanical gear steps
- Gear changes in around 0.1 sec
- Can be run as 4 gears, 5 gears, 12 gears, or full auto
- AI-supported auto shifting
- Similar power target to M2S
- Chain or belt compatible
- Potential motor lock anti-theft
- Regen braking being explored
A normal bike has fixed gears, like steps.
This is more like a ramp. The system has effectively infinite ratios underneath, then the software lets you decide how you want that gearing to feel.
Avinox had concept bikes from Canyon, Commencal, Mondraker and Forbidden using the MG system.
Still only a concept, likely not production until next year, but this could be one of the biggest drivetrain changes in eMTB for years.
Well, I never knew she had a secret burger chain, no wonder she went bust (uhm, no pun again)This is a bit like Katie Price revealing her much modified baps in the "dodgy as" pseudo news media.
