2025 Norco Sight VLT CX

Great ride today.
Stiffer and more responsive than my Gen 2 range vlt.
Handles switchbacks much better.
Low bb. Few strikes, nothing bad though.
Never felt too long I'm 6ft sz4.
Still dialing suspension, usually use ride aligned but can't yet obviously.
Range was insane.
Really steep winch and plummet riding and park laps.
3hrs without using lift and boosting up hills. Trail mode down and trailing.
Super fun direct bike and sizing is correct for my height.
Weight 24.6kg with downhill Tyres pedals and hope brakes 220mm vented rotors both ends

Did you fit the new GR4 brake calipers or just the Evo levers? Hope say that the vented rotors are not compatible with the new calipers.

You say that, quite a lot of heavy parts on there, assuming the spec is otherwise stock from the parts listed. Wheels are heavy, brakes are heavy, XT wireless isn’t light, those stock Praxxis cranks weigh a tonne, so does the TransX dropper, etc.

My Sight, which is essentially a Range (170mm Zeb / 65mm stroke Vivid Air) is under 22kg & I haven’t compromised the build anywhere, just picked lighter, strong parts.
Damn, that sounds great. I cant even see any UK Sight stock - so essentially one could just build the Range as you have done, its the same frame, linkage etc, just running different stroke shock and longer Fork.

I am going to try and get a ride on one asap!

Yeah it's definitely not the lightest build. Straight out the showroom floor, adding downhill tyres and 220mm vented hopes also added some weight. I also weighed with hope gravity pedals fitted.
Riding last night at the local bike shop park I beat all my previous times and it didn't feel "too heavy".
Can definitely feel the shorter rear end.
I did consider building up a sight but as they were also delayed I just decided to wait.
When the wheels fail I'll build better wheels set, when the deurailier fails I'll go mechanical, this will be bring it back slightly in time but it's noticeable that's it's lighter and more nimble than their outgoing models.
Pretty happy at 24.5kg

Just levers on v4 calipers.
Great stoppers with improved feel over the standard master cylinders.. Maybe power is not as easily accessed but it still there with more pull.

Nice. What size you get, and how tall are you?

The Sight has a Lyric, trail tires, etc. So yah the Range weight gain is what it is.

This is a top 3 bike for me. If I don't ever get my on-order Antidote it'll almost certainly be the Regulator, or this.

If they offered a frame only with a CX-r and a 600w battery, I'd order today.

I do think this is a better Rogue with a better chainstay length and a better drivetrain with a better weight distribution.

Of course it costs considerably more too!

Size 4.
I'm 182 cm.
I'm pretty lanky 46 years old and it feels perfect.... Never felt long. Well placed on climbs.
Would be pretty interested in the your review when you get one as this is only 5th eeb and you clearly have a broader spectrum to compare to!

I'm 191cm, so its possible I'd need the Size 5, which has a really 475mm long seat tube - I wish brands would stop making stupidly long seat tubes on longer bikes. With 240mm droppers I cant really see why, unless its a structural thing.

Norco's sizes are really in-between. I should be on a size 3/ Large but the Reach is like 467mm or something, just too short. So then I have to go with a 4, which is a bit weird too for a few reasons.

I’m 185cm on an S4 for reference.

The span on this bike is really right at the top end of what i consider comfortable for my height (819mm from memory) - my preference is around 800, especially if you consider the inherent stability of an ebike because of the extra weight.

However my wife has an S3 & that’s just a bit too small annoyingly.

The fact that it’s a HP & the chainstays are a little longer than they state (444 measured on an S4 static - so 454mm at sag) helps balance it out though.

The best bike I have ridden size wise was a large Orbea Wild - in pure geometry terms it was great (for me), just a terrible bike in many other ways. The long travel Sight/Range is a small compromise there for me, but otherwise it’s a really good bike - I described it as a motorised version of my old Dreadnought, which I still think seems appropriate to say now, and that’s a good thing (at least purely from a riding perspective, not the fact I broke it, repeatedly 😆 )

I was a little concerned about 500 reach but it's a non issue for me after a few rides now.
Lots off climbing. About 4000meters. No lower back issues.

Interesting thanks. I'm not that much taller than you, and you feel that the S4 might be on the longer side for you... I'll try to get a ride on either this new Range or the Sight in S4 asap.

Maybe this bike is meant to be sized like the E-Druid and you are NOT supposed to size up?

A lot of sizing does come down to preference though - I’m not a fan of a ‘big’ bike so I’m pretty comfortable with something more average.

When you add a 170mm fork it’s very similar in span to an S3 Unno Mith, which I have ridden extensively also over the past few months (just with a slightly longer back end at sag on this & a higher BB).

It's funny with the sizing.
I ride dirt bikes and they come in one size. Me and my riding buddies swapping bikes and ride them all happily. We range from 5'4 to 6'4.
Maybe this makes me care less about reach?..... I've definitely had something older bikes with slack seat angles that absolutely ruined my lower back on long rides etc.
Those bike seems mint, no issues.
For me if nothing hurts or feels uncomfortable then I'm good.
This is the case here. No issues at all.

That’s exactly what I’ve been comparing it too. I’m also on the S3 Mith. Sizing is OK for me.

My other bike that I still have is the 2022 range vlt size large.
This has more of the big bike feel and also feels longer on climbs and switchbacks.
I even bumped the selector on one switchback with my knee when climbing last night and the bike shifted down a gear!
This has never happened on the old range.....
Feels smaller... More compact.... Weird considering the numbers indeed

I've been reading this thread with interest (not that I need another bike) as I have a 2023 / gen2 Range Vlt (C1) in Large - a very comfortable bike and 180/170mm gives it great park & downhill capabilities

I wonder how Norco can improve on the gen2?

Gen 2 still an absolute downhill beast....
I feel the new one is more well rounded.
Better climber, more playful, still handles great. Not as plush but more supportive.
Very different ride characteristics but as already mentioned. Faster by a few seconds on all the park laps I did yesterday...
Would be more Tiring over the day on new bike though.....
That pre x2 emtb38 still the best fork I've had...

the f38 & dhx2 combo is good(y) prior to this bike I had bad experence with f38 but was pleasantly suprised & the 'Ride Aligned' recomendations were a great starting point for setup needing only minor adjustments:cool:

the rear suspension on the gen2 is fantastic & smoothes chatter / chunk perfectly - the oposite of my Trek rail

unfortunately I've upgraded to Manitou's Dorado & Mara suspension (Norco warrant these frames to 180mm twincrown front so it would have been rude not to :p )

Nice to see this new Range - although the weight seems quite high, even given the spec. I thought the Sight was under 22kg?

Rob, with all due respect, the weight comment is a bit cheeky. You literally weighed the Velduro Rogue with a nearly identical spec, and considering the Avinox system is about 500 g lighter than Bosch, the comparison speaks for itself.

Fair!

I was just going by the Sight weight, which I understood to be under 22KG. I didn’t really look much into the differences in build kit that much between the Sight and Range, but now it makes sense now I’ve looked at it a bit more!

Have now adjusted the bike to the the rode aligned setup as it's available in the website.
The bike now behaves a lot like my zerode g3.
The grip x2 38 has the highly supportive feel that needs pace to engage the travel as my 40 grip x2 does.
The new float x2 rear is the same.
Following slower riders is unpleasant and you feel everything. Get it done moving fast and it all comes good!
I was 25 psi low in rear and 18 psi low in front.
A true testament to the ride aligned being a great starting point point.
Totally love this bike for our local steep and chunky trails.!
Feels like more than 160 in the rear.

Put a 160mm Fox 38 on it. Curious how it will feel. I have this bike sinse October. 😁 Testing tomorrow.

Anyone having problems with opening the charge port cover I can’t seem to open it. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

You push the small tab into the bike /down and pull the door.
It's tight. Maybe slide butter knife under main door.... Not the greatest design.

Guys I have a NIB Bosch 600w power tube for sale in the US if anyone is looking to lighten up their ride.
