Dont worry, I didnt pickup an XX! I was actually being sarcastic, as I thought that question for me was surely sarcasm as well. Weird when strangers on the web are asking if you are having money trouble when purchasing a $15k bike!!
I am pretty sure the good old mechanical is the lightest and most affordable option still if that is the game which I think we all agreed it is not. I took an Amflow for a demo though, and that damn auto shifting without pedaling got me before my first ride was done!
The ultimate question (not really) - Why XO then? Seems to be the goldilocks group.. Not to heavy, not too pricey, and I will gladly admit that I am keen to it's bad ass black tones to match my raw carbon!!
Ok all, I actually did not buy the lightest weight parts I could at every turn for the record, I was simply asking about the weight of the frame since I was stoked seeing this thing is going to be 5+ lbs lighter than my current bike as I totaled up the weights.
My build is curated for how and where I like to ride, and the components I simply am drawn towards accordingly. I am very active in the saddle or when standing, and appreciate sharp nimble handling. Shedding weight enhances everything I do on the bike to a degree (accelerating, braking, changing directions, jumping, etc), but I also need the ebike to keep on going through the rough, really fastly!
So I did my best to source components that will strike the balance of high performance I desire by shedding weight on rotating mass, unsprung weight, and weight up high like the dropper, bars, and seat which I can feel improvements in performance. And of course, they got to be SEXY in my eye's too!!
When I totaled up all the parts other than the carbon frame and saw a
39.1 pound total I wanted to get some confirmations on the frame weight to get more accurate.
Reached out to the "T-man" and believe it or not he told me he does not have the frame weights for these things. Does the last gram matter? Of course not, this girl is BEAST already!
Do I want to know how much my mystery bike is going to weigh? Hell yeah I do!!
