Never heard about such a problem before.

I have a Vala X0 with the same hub and now 120 miles on it. No issues at all. This is my third DT Swiss ratchet hub and I have done a total of 10,000 miles on those. They only needed a bearing service, but never a new ratchet ring.

The new DEG version should be even more reliable. The ratchet ring has a much larger diameter and can distribute the load over more teeth. I would guess the failure of your hub is due to a manufacturing/material fault and should be covered by warranty.

I’ve had nothing but good experience with DT hubs, so this is surprising. The place I bought the bike from is giving me some kickback on the warranty, hinting that I took the hub apart and caused the problem. If they don’t make it right I’m going to post my experience and the name of the company everywhere possible. I’m also going to contact Santa Cruz directly and see what they will do as the Reserve wheels are covered under a separate warranty as well as the bike.

I don't understand why they are making such a fuss about the broken ratchets. It's not the cheapest item on the bike and significantly more expensive than in Europe but I have found the ratchet service kit for $130. The kit includes two ratchet rings, two springs, a washer and a small tube of special grease. Service procedure is simple.

Search for manufacturer part number HWYXXX00N6599S.
 
Hi everyone, I'm thinking of buying the Powermore 250, which I found at a great price. I'd like to ask anyone who's using the Bullit with the additional battery how it feels compared to the standard setup, whether the bike becomes less agile, and where the added weight is felt most.

I use the Powermore 250 quite a lot and like the extended range. I was skeptical of the additional weight and how it would affect the ride. Picking up the bike to say put on the car rack, you will feel the additional weight. Nothing terrible but noticeable. However when riding the bike I haven't noticed it affecting the handling. I'm sure you could hear from others that say it's noticeable and it might be a little bit, but doesn't hinder performance. Just longer ride times. If you are mainly jumping big jump lines over 30' and doing big whips you will feel it for sure. But for aggressive trail riding it's barely noticeable.

This is/was very known problem with DEG 90 teeth ratchet, if there was too much grease teeth were stripped.

 
Hi everyone, I have the Bullit with SRAM 90 gear and I intend to switch to electronic, probably the new XT di2, I ask those who have made the switch to electronic gear, if to remove the cable housing, they had to loosen or remove the motor or was it enough to pull the cable housing to one side, thanks

Bosch doesn't make a 200mm version (yet?) of the powermore cable, regardless of plug orientation.
 
I finally got my rear wheel replaced. The hub was bad. All good with the new one. My question is about the motor settings. I was looking forward to riding one of the newer motors. So far it has been disappointing. The motor rattle from the Shimano is gone, but the very noticeable resistance at the cranks when when you reach 20mph is like the 1st gen Shimano motors. My previous Ep8 equipped bike had no noticeable resistance after 20mph. I would gladly trade the rattle and lack of resistance for this motor. I am very much not techy. Is this something that can be tuned out in the settings?

Mine was 1 month from the time of order. I did have to settle for the black color as the matte turquoise would have meant a 3 month wait.

I certainly had LOTS of fun applying ridewrap on it. If you're quite ocd about these things, put on a good audiobook, make sure you're not hungry for the next 5 hours, and off you go. Everyone on the internet says if it's your first one, it won't be perfect, but mine was pretty damn near-perfect (I'm talking about Ride Wrap here, just to avoid confusion;) )

Edit: I got the full tailored ridewrap kit, minus forks.

I did my black frame in matt - looks sick now.. REally enjoyed tyhe process... make sure it's not too hot though cos it's quite the effort

If you get the black color, yes. It’s a beautiful color but it shows everything. I live in a very rocky area and 50 miles on the bike its already showing a few chips on the rear triangle. I had a few pieces of gloss left from another frame. I used a piece as a trial run before I ordered a set. You have to be very meticulous with the application. It shows every little bubble and fingerprint on the black paint. I’m going to try using some tight fitting rubber gloves when I do mine.

Out of curiosity, does the Bosch feel like it has way more resistance when pedaling with the bike powered off than your Shimano does? Just wondering if what you are feeling is the difference in friction between the 2 motors, or if it could be from the cutoff configuration. Some motors are configured in such a way that they gradually taper the power down as you approach the 20mph limit, but others give you full power right up to the cutoff, which feels much more abrupt due to the stark contrast, almost like the brakes have been applied.

Same. Use LOTS of water and don’t be afraid to take off and reapply if needed. The matte Ridewrap is perfect. By the time you get to the front triangle, you’ll be a pro. Unfortunately, the mirror finish of the logo will be lost, but overall the matte wrap looks fantastic

First ride today on a mellow'ish trail to dial things in. Felt really really good. Shock may need a little more air as the O ring is a few mm from the bottom and was only doing hip high drops.

Ride Wrap install went fairly well for my first time. Hopefully it all stays on after a few washes etc
 
My tyre pressure gauge no longer works with these reserve wheels because the valve is a different style etc

Any work arounds for this?
