amazing, can you roll by their hq next ride and tell them to put up accurate infos one can rely on? that would be great…I'll do an update for you Sethimus. Just had another ride. It was shockingly good.
Need some insights who owns this bike. Ultimately I am looking for a one bike do it all, but chasing the DH feel like a Santa Cruz v10. I like the “magic carpet” feel as I don’t do jumps, maybe small hucks to flat, but overall just want smooth and fast even on techy black trails.
I currently own a crestline - coil front and rear - it’s great, but the rear isn’t as DH feeling as much as I anticipated even given the 180mm, so I wonder if the velduro would be a better option?
I'm sure they are trying to do the best. Maybe reach out directly and offer some help? You'd know for sure how to communicate to future buyers who can't think and have no understanding for small companies with limited resources. BTW I'm not on velduro's payroll, I'm just trying to be reasonable.amazing, can you roll by their hq next ride and tell them to put up accurate infos one can rely on? that would be great…
On another thread although not yet launched is another mid HP enduro - dh is the Teewing Flux 180mm. for what its worth looks decent, possibly to be as poppy as the Rouge then it will extend to its own tickle, plush and ploughful...Need some insights who owns this bike. I think a lot of it has to do with the suspension platform and how it’s created. Since I’m looking for more DH magic carpet ride, 180mm doesn’t mean much. I’ve ridden my friends chromag low down. That thing has 160mm of Horst link, but rides exactly like a mini DH rig - fast smooth and rumbles thru rock gardens / roots. I feel like crestline is more poppy than what the travel provides and this seems to hold true based on PB and other reviews. On another thread although not yet launched is another mid HP enduro - dh is the Teewing Flux 180mm. for what its worth looks decent, possibly to be as poppy as the Rouge then it will extend to its own tickle, plush and ploughful...
Keen to view new Geo updates that come to hand....
The Rouge still of great interest as more ride reports rolls in....
Thanks to this forum for squaring up the Flux or Rouge.
I was on a Cresti S180 before the Rogue and honestly feel like this rear suspension is less chattery and much more composed than the S180. Can’t feel any difference in the travel either. Have an O-chain on the S180 and pedal kickback between the two feels the same, non existent . One thing that truly surprised me was how much having a fully slammed dropper improves the ability to move the bike around.I think a lot of it has to do with the suspension platform and how it’s created. While I agree with you - only to a certain point. I am running a custom tuned Telum coil on my S180 and played with multiple settings adjustments etc. Still can't get it quite as smooth as my friend's bike (which the air shock is setup to him). What it has most to do with is correct shock setup.
So if you hit up a bike park - doing blues / black tech, and jump lines, between the Cresti and Velduro, which would you pick?I was on a Cresti S180 before the Rogue and honestly feel like this rear suspension is less chattery and much more composed than the S180. I’d take the Rogue! Selling the S180So if you hit up a bike park - doing blues / black tech, and jump lines, between the Cresti and Velduro, which would you pick?
Have you got a triple on your s180 or 180mm single crown? A triple clamp makes a big difference to making a bike feel like more like a dh rig. While I agree with you - only to a certain point. I am happy to have ridden enough to feel such differences. I also have a GT fury (mid / high pivot) DH Bike - while my S180 is close to feeling like the GT Fury, it's still not as composed as a V10.
Yeah my S180 on Boxxer 38.Have you got a triple on your s180 or 180mm single crown? A triple clamp makes a big difference to making a bike feel like more like a dh rig.
Now you aren't going to get a 170/180mm bike that feels exactly like a dh rig in the back. You are giving away 20-30mm of travel and that matters in the big chunk. The only to way to a get full dh feel is to have 200mm in the rear.
Pole Sonni, if you could find one is the only bike i know of thats full 200mm rear. But i wouldnt recommend buying a collectors item that likely to crack....
So you will end up with a compromise in the rear of not quite dh rig. With that said, it has to get very very hectic before my dh rig can go faster on than the s180. I have a trek session, I ran the session down the above short dh track and it is no faster anywhere on that track than my S180.
Given that what you want doesnt exist, maybe a shift in thought process is required? Rather than trying to replicate the dh rig, consider that the shorter rear travel gives you the opportunity to practice refining your lines and technique.
Complements of Horst Leitner.I was on a Cresti S180 before the Rogue and honestly feel like this rear suspension is less chattery and much more composed than the S180. It would help a great deal if Teewing would release kinematic graphs for the Flux (the MX mode could either be interesting or dubious). I would would be reticent to critically compare the bikes until such time.On another thread although not yet launched is another mid HP enduro - dh is the Teewing Flux 180mm. for what its worth looks decent, possibly to be as poppy as the Rouge then it will extend to its own tickle, plush and ploughful...

Complements of Horst Leitner.
I do agree that the s180 is poppy and playful. But I don't have any issues with square edged hits or it showing down through roots like you describe. Quote the opposite, I am enjoying the platform more than my mid pivot dh bike and my high pivot enduro bike. I do lean on more to the poppy playful side than point and plough side . I manual through stuff and where possible pop over sections rather than plough through on the ground. So it probably makes sense that i enjoy the S180 more than you. I have gone to lengths to make my s180 lighter and more playful....Yeah my S180 on Boxxer 38.
Pole is out of the question - even the new one being developed right now, I think the overall bike is to racey even with the 190+ rear travel.
Not sure what's the best way to describe it - but for example V10 (200mm + mullet) / Chromag (160mm + full 29) - both on slow rolling DH rubber - the rear will delete bumps even square hits and will continuously pick up speed.
S180 in mullet configuration with DH UltraSoft Rear rubber: Tons of grip, but would eventually slow down instead of picking up speed on small roots. Square hits will slow it down significantly. I would need to throw down a couple of pedal strokes to get back up to speed.
S180 In the 29 configuration with DH Soft Rear rubber: Does a lot better in keeping speed and rolling over things. It will pick up in certain bumpy terrain but not as much as the v10/lowdown.
So having played with all the settings and setup I can on the S180, I feel like it might be a bike kinematics thing regardless of travel. Based on the reviews so far, the Velduro seems more fast/smooth instead of playful/poppy.
yeah that's probably the better way to put it - point, shoot and plough.I do agree that the s180 is poppy and playful. But I don't have any issues with square edged hits or it showing down through roots like you describe. Quote the opposite, I am enjoying the platform more than my mid pivot dh bike and my high pivot enduro bike. I do lean on more to the poppy playful side than point and plough side . With what you describe it sounds like you are more of a point and shoot plough kind of guy rather than someone that has a more popping and playful style. So.... given you are a plough guy then the mid or high pivot design will probably suit you better. They are definitely more plough machines and soak up square edge particularly well.
