Crestline x DJI - RS 181 SPECTRE Edition

The new RS 181s is too nice, I’d take the hit! 😂👍🏼
Heheheahahah. I cant complain at my crestline either its a monster. Plus i have 400wh battery option for even lighter than the RS181 for when i want to go E hike a bike and do mid power style rides with a lighter bike.

I noticed you ordered cranks with GapCap Type: “Bosch BDU38” instead of “Bosch”. Did it fit properly? I need to purchase GapCap separately (going with XO cranks), trying to buy the correct GapCap. Thx.
I've been wondering this too or if it's even needed/fits. No mention of Avinox compatibility that I can find.

Problem I’ve always had with my old 252wh range extender (on a 41lb Orbea Rise) in the past is it changed the weight distribution quite noticeably which alters the way the bike feels. I don’t like hitting big or sketchy jumps right away after installing or removing the extender until I get a couple descents in to get acclimated to the feel. As a result, I sold the extender and figure it’s just better to have both a lighter bike and a full fat. I now have a 38.Xlb (with trail tires) LevoSL 2nd gen that feels incredible and identical to a suffer bike and will have the the new Cresty as soon as I get a shipping confirmation.
Problem is I just bought the new Trek Rail literally 2 weeks before the preorder so now will have 2 full fats. The 100Nm update has been incredible so far. No complains at all from that motor.

The crank cap did not fit my GX cranks. I don't see a need to run one either.
Interesting. Which one of the two crank caps do you have? I assume most installing GX/XO/XX cranks on this frame set either don’t know about crank caps or not installing one because they’re not bothered by how it looks.

The one for Bosch/Sram/Brose. The top one.

I purchased the SRAM E-MTB 90 cranks which is what Troydon recommended to me.
They come with the beauty/dust cap, they do fit but then again I don’t have a spider ring nut to check if the cap fits over it. I’m guessing the issue is the cap not fitting over the spider ring nut?

Yeah, I wasn't interested in the range extender option.
There's 1kg difference between the 600 and 400wh on my crestline. 600wh crestline feels freaken awesome. Slap the 400wh in and I don't need much re-calibration between batteries sizes. it just feels lighter and more playful.

Anyone know what the torque spec is on the two motor bolts?
I recommend checking torque on all the frame bolts……at least after your first ride….if not before.
Removing just the front motor bolt allows you to rotate the motor down and gain access to the derailleur power cord.

Motor bolts are 20-22 NM according to Thanks for that tip on removing just the front motor bolt

Troydon just got back to me. He said 15-17Nm and definitely add blue loctite. Any fastener I remove or loosen that has remnants of loctite, I always reapply the same color/strength loctite.
There are also two lock washers on the motor bolts that bite onto each other and the frame…..don’t loose them! And be sure they bite/lock onto each other the way they were installed.

Troydon responded, kind of 😊, to my inquiry regarding which Gap Cap to purchase if not buying Eagle 90s.
His Response:
I think this cap is only for Bosch, I’ve just removed it on the eagle 90’s I am using, Its super easy to take off.

So no need for the gap cap? I plan to reuse my x0 cranks from my previous crestline

Aesthetics is nice but I do want to prevent dirt from getting in to hard to reach and clean spots. I bought this to try. 11.6118.072.000

Has anyone had a chance to ride the bike yet and provide initial thoughts?

Hey on the crestline do the motor bolts thread directly into the frame on the drive side ? On the amflow you have a through bolt 6 and 8.

Threads into the frame on the drive side.
You only see 2 bolt heads on the one side.

Thanks! Did you get crestline specific motor bolt torque numbers?
Yes. The website shows the suspension torque numbers but not the motor bolts.
Troydon himself told me 15Nm along with blue loctite for the two DJI bolts. He first said 15-20Nm but then replied again saying 15Nm is plenty.
