I enjoy Brian's take on bike reviews. Was stoked he was so stoked on his Reign, but i think his hard charging style suits this bike. It is an Enduro bike, not a trail bike like say a Levo so needs to be ridden with purpose.

Riding an E+1 since January 2022, the bike is definitely a pure enduro, it needs speed to stay playful, doesn't like slow sections. Once at speed it's insane how maneuverable and forgiving the bike is, my first thoughts when I bought it were It's like riding on a tank with the plushest suspension ever.

Anyone else find the motor / drivetrain quite noisy on their Reign? I ran an STFU for a bit, unsure if it made a big difference though. Seems to be a lot of free play in motor system which is the main cause.

Yes it is loud. The clutch is whining. I replaced one of the motors under warranty but the noise didn't go away so it's a feature.

The hit on resale is going to be pretty hard if you didn't buy a discounted bike in the first place.

If the new bikes get extra expensive due to tariffs, the used market will grow again. 🤷‍♂️🤔
 
Buying a used ebike with no warranty is dumb imo. Also I agree with Redlemon, older ebikes will hardly be worth selling.
Best to buy from and support companies from your own country no matter what the tariff situation.
 
Hi all. Wonder if someone can help me out identifying a part.
Does anyone have a part number and/or description for this part of the rear axle?
Mine is broken after getting a huge stick stuck in the rear mech. Fortunately the mech survived but this is now broken and allows the rear mech to flap around. Everything still works but im struggling to get perfect shifting despite checking and correcting the rear mech alignment.
It looks to me like this part serves as a guide for the rear axle but also effectively changes the dimensions of the proprietary Giant rear mech hanger to the same dimensions as UDH. So the other question is - can I just ditch this and switch to a UDH?

Yes, it is an udh from factory. Just buy an udh for 8/10 €

Perfect thanks. That is exactly the part. I already looked that that catalogue and convinced myself that the part wasnt in there. It is in fact shown as part of the rear derailleur hanger. Which after a bit more searching, I am convinced is just a standard UDH

I just bought a RockShox Vivid Coil shock. Does anyone have experience with this shock?
I test-fitted it on my frame and noticed that the rebound adjustment knob touches the frame when it's fully open.
Could this cause problems?
There’s still a bushing installed in the lower eyelet, so I wasn’t able to fully test it.
I’ll need to get a tool to remove the bushing first.

I have got it. Yes, you have to remove the knob to be secure. It touches the frame when fully compressed.
And you need this tool for the brushing.

Has anyone increased the stroke length of their rear shock to increase frame travel at all? If so, has it affected geo, ride characteristics much? Considering going up 10mm front and rear.

I put on a suntour voro coil 205x65 with 500 lb spring. I think it upped travel to 165 as standard shock is 205x62.5

no noticeable difference to me other than this bike loves a coil shock.
 
Hope some of you find this helpful doing routine maintenance.

  • I checked the lockring to make sure it was tight and sure enough it was not torqued down to 45 Nm. Lockring tool I purchased off Amazon: BikeHand Lockring Tool . This resolved the annoying, "clicking / toc toc / tick tick" noise I was getting while in the power settings 3-5 going up hill applying torque to the pedals.

Some of the other issues that I fixed in the past.

  • The crank arm bolts needed to be re-torqued to 50nm
  • The rear center lock bolt holding the rotor and speed sensor magnet came loose, causing the magnet to spin on the hub, throwing an error (flashing red) shutting down the motor at random times.
  • Almost all the pivot bearings where rough after 1000 miles and I replaced them all with Enduro Max LLU
  • Headset was creaking. Removed the bearings, cleaned and re-greased. The bearings were dry.
  • Battery latch was crooked and was rubbing against the battery case. Needed to be re-aligned.
  • Rear lower shock axle was bone dry and needed to be cleaned and greased.
Bike is now running smooth. Looking to get many more miles out of this bike.

The new ones are 48V, so definitely not backwards compatible.
 
Anyone did the new app option 》Activate your ebike 《 under a new menu also 》My Ebike《. The changes came with the recent app update(Android)?
 
Did the upgrade on iPhone, they talk about new features but probably on newer bikes. Tried "Activate your ebike", no change for my Reign e+2 2022.

For me it definitely was. As the bike is heavy already I do not really care about some more added weight. Right now the bike is sitting at around 27kg with gravity tires, coil, heavy duty wheelset and so on in XL. It was around 25.5 before. Don't mind the weight, I am 225lbs myself.

I bought the Super Deluxe Coil RC2T in 205x62.5 as that is the stroke the Float DPS and X2 had before. Using a 550lbs spring to sit right around 30% sag.

I like the Float DPS initially. It performed ok for being a basic, rather cheap option. After getting along better with the bike I went throught the travel a lot. No real option on the DPS to increase compression. I changed it for an X2 Performance Elite from the E+1 model, but never found a good setting. After around 200km or so on it, it began to make noises, just like the same model I had previously on my Forbidden Dreadnought. Sold it and got the coil.

The RC2T coil is pretty inexpensive and I really like the suppleness of the top. The rear of the reign e+ is definitely progressive enough to run a linear coil shock. For hard impacts the hydraulic bottom out works superb. It feels a lot more planted in the rear than before.

Hi there, I`m thinking of getting a Super Deluxe Coil Ultimate RC2T for my 2023 E+2, before I splurge the cash, I`m sure I read somewhere that you cant adjust the rebound if you put one in the E+ frame, is this true? (I had a coil shock on my analogue reign and that was fine).......

With Vivid Coil, you cannot adjust it because you have to put off the rebound knob (hit the frame).
I think SDCU rebound knob is shorter and can stay on the bike.

The rebound adjustment can be done by making a modified tool from an Allen key.
