What did you do to your EBike this week?

Today (& yesterday) I rode the bloody thing at Bpw 😎

Met up with Hattori-Hanzo for a short time yesterday morning at the park but couldn’t find time for a good chat :(

Al's Sworks Ksl

Nearly 20 miles rode yesterday and had to finish early as my mrs’s bike was playing up🙄
IMG_7673.jpeg

Also met up with another Norco, this time a similar bike (the red Sight - 150/160mm travel compared with my Range & it's 175/180mm )

IMG_7682.jpeg

Today’s first pedalup we encountered 3 Hossis, they stayed at a suitable distance from us 🤷‍♂️

Al’s sworks Ksl, built from a frame set👍

My 2023 Norco Range Vlt😎

Over 25 miles today before battery-flattness stopped play - impressive considering Bpw has a 2 1/3 mile pedalup and I’m no lightweight 🐽

Aching now 😢

Rich.

Hacked and bodged a fork crown mount out of a seat rail mount to fit the fox 36 front mudguard

I kinda like the footage from the crown and missed having the option so went to work...

I did this to my bike. 😭

No idea how & a couple of weeks after repairing the leaking damper, couldn't be in a worse spot too, fml.

sent the front M6120 brake assembly off me Rise M10 to Shimano to check why it needs burping every 5 minutes
replaced it with a single pot M6100 I got off ebay for £20

Just brought the new Rockshox reverb AXS 200mm dropper , I can now slam it !
Previous dropper was 170 mm reverb AXS and that was max night they did .
The new dropper is completely different design insider and out .
Hopefully this one won’t need to go back to sram every 6 months for a rebuild !

Is it shorter than the old dropper?

Is it shorter than the old dropper?
In what way shorter ? I went from 170mm to 200mm , the bottom base unit part was the same size if that’s what ya mean that

I have a Santa Cruz Heckler 8.1 CC MX which is a mullet w/504wh battery. It's intended to be a light full power bike. I've done nothing but add weight with remote reservoir rear shock, Zeb fork, Maven brakes, cush core and heavy duty tires.

I try to ride lively and hunt the edge of the trails for opportunities to get in the air. I just put on a set of We are One Composites wheels and a set of Schwalbe Radial tires without cush core. The rims are lifetime guaranteed so going to test the lighter tires and no cush core theory BUT I'll be very careful with tire pressure. Hoping the radial tires will let me keep the feel I like with increased tire pressure.

Fingers crossed.

rode the bloody thing:p

Dirt farm yesterday (badly🤭)

Bpw today (slightly less badly😜)

wonder what tomorrow will bring🤨

Rich.

Rode again today🤭

IMG_7742.jpeg

Had an afternoon lazing around Bpw BUT my bike was slightly altered……..

So now there’s a pair of Dorado equipped eeeeeb’s in our household 😎

Fitted lastnight and first test ride this afternoon with success - some air pressure fiddling to do as I used all 180mm of travel somewhere and then some damper adjustment possibly?

Otherwise a good purchase :-)

Rich.

Swung a leg over mine for the first time in 2 weeks and headed out onto the trails with BigNotSoBadBen
Was nice to get out and after some heavy rain (following a very long dry summer) the trails were running mint!

Built up the wife’s new YT Decoy max, fitted A 223 Galfer rotor & adapter, Fatbar Lite 35 and Apex stem, set the wheels up tubeless, 170mm dropper and fitted her trusty (and indestructible), Shimano DX pedals.

Still waiting for mine to be delivered.
Maiden voyage in the next few days.

The spring is here!
So I took off the studded tires, mounted a new, tubeless Magic Mary up front together with a Fillmore valve. The last year's front tire, a Nobby Nic, has to do the job at the rear. There, I used a tube, because I was told I should not try to mount it tubeless when it had been used with a tube on another rim before. I don't know if that is a good advice? Should I just do the tubeless conversion there as well?

Then I washed the bike

Test ride tomorrow morning to work (if my first ever tubeless still has a decent air pressure)

it would definitely be best to experience both tyres tubeless
I'd say give it a go - old slacker tyres can be harder to seat properly
but try with plenty of slop - soapy water or some carefully applied sealant on the bead, see if it seats straight away
if not; try popping the innertube back in - pump up, then take the tyre bead off just one side slip out the tube and try again
if you don't get any joy - maybe give up at that point...

Was it April the 1st when you were told that?

I have never heard of that advice before and I would challenge it.

Great to catch up with you mate. I'll be up again, so next time we'll get some laps in (y)

We did just shy of 50 miles over the two days, after my mate had an off on Wibbly Wobbly and then broke a spoke on Rim Dinger (living up to it's name) we decided to call it a day, I've only just recovered 😆

today I fitted the Manitou Mara pro rear damper (air) to the Norco:cool:

this has replaced it's fox dhx2 damper (coil) that has started making 'squelching' noises after ~150 miles of use (along with the fox38 factory forks:mad:)
will be sending them to Silverfish for warranty repair as I'm surethey houldn't be doing that when basically new:cautious:

Seems like QC at Fox is iffy at best - some (like me) have flawless experiences, while others (like you) have the dreaded squelch and are forever warrantying their Fox components.

Attempted to fit a new maxxis DHr2 in a rush today
tubeless just wasn’t having it and gave up after about 20 attempts to seat it
so lobbed a tube in and went ride it

tried again after having the tube in just about got there in about 10 attempts
Had the exact same trouble last year when attempting the same thing
come to the conclusion that the rim is shagged and has a couple of dints that affects the tyre seating
this is the only wheel that Iv ever had problems with

This evening I’ve swapped the oneup dm stem for a hope dm stem (hope is shiney as opposed to one up being satin black)and also raised the top crown on the dorado forks - partly for frame clearance and partly to increase handlebar height🤨

And time for the ‘finished’ (definitely unfinished!) article 😎

IMG_7765.jpeg

With the one up dm stem.

IMG_7762.jpeg

I could have cleaned it after the weekend’s riding 🤣

IMG_7763.jpeg

Mara pro in place.

IMG_7764.jpeg

Work & party switch (climbing lockout)
And yes, the damper is mounted on the squiff as this gives frame clearance to carry 2 drinks bottles (also the ‘piggyback’ doesn’t interfere with legs while riding 👍)

Rich.
