Youtube guy/enduro pro who's made a few videos about the benefits of longer chainstays.
Not @ you or Brian specifically... I think the thing that often gets missed is that geometry trends follow racing and trailbuilding trends.

As an example, seat angles have gotten 4-9d steeper in the last decade- and we all love that!
Slacker seat angles do have some advantages though, namely they made it easy to manual/wheelie while seated- handy on low-speed technical trails, walking speed drops, skinnies & elevated stuff. But those trailbuilding styles have gone out of vogue and now we mostly climb FSRs to get to DH trails.

I'm not saying that I want slacker seat angles- or shorter chainstays. Just that steeper seat angles and longer chainstays are geometry trends that suit the current application, which will inevitably change.

It will be interesting to see if the new rocker links will be compatible with the outgoing ex-e frame and how those might affect the geo and travel possibilities too!
Would be neat but I doubt it. The way the linkage connects to the seatstay on the new one is different compared to how it was done on the outgoing model.

Ah, yes… I see it now. The seatstay mounts to the outer face of the rocker link in the new model, so not likely compatible without swapping the seatstay as well (if that were even realistically possible).

Pretty nice refresh. Frame is a lot easier on the eye than the outgoing version. Nice to have MX and long travel options too although I find it a little odd the the burly, long travel one comes as a full 29er.

It would be great if the Fuel+ Exe offered a frame, motor, and battery-only option, allowing me to transfer all the upgraded components from my current Fuel Exe to a new frame, motor, and battery setup.
Yep, but for some very odd reason none the brands allow that. Only specialized, and their frame option cost close to what the lowest carbon option with components cost, making it a silly choice.

I guess brands make too much money on the components.
It's also clear as day that they do, because comparing the variants you often get highest variant at the close to the same price as if you get the lower spec, and buy all high end components for full retail price.

For those interested, it won’t be in stock until Spring next year.

Looks like there were some frame-only listings, obviously taken down now:

Did a quick geo comparison thing. Little bit longer, little bit slacker, etc.

Well done on finding geo numbers. I couldn't when I looked a couple of weeks ago. Do we have weights? Normally I don't much care (own a RAAW), but that's a big part of the point with the current EXe. Wondering how much the bigger battery weighs and if there will be options so you could have one small battery and one big battery.

I was trying to resist and really don't have any complaints about the current motor and battery, but when I bought the bike (size L) I told my buddy at the shop the only misses were that the rear center should be 445 on the large, there should be a bit more stack, and the linkage needed to more progressive. I almost want the geo/linkage more than the motor and battery.

Asking for opinions or thoughts....this is related to the Fuel Exe or more likely the Fuel +:

I owned a 2021 Levo and sold it as I just didn't find it fun on the trails. I like to pop off things, regularly lift the front wheel and bunnyhop over obstacles whenever I can, and I found the Levo very heavy feeling and difficult to manual and bunny hop. So I switched back to a normal bike ('22 Trek Top Fuel 8).
After buying the Top Fuel the Fuel Exe was released and I was offered a carpark ride on the Exe. Even in the carpark the bike felt more agile, playful and I found it much easier to bunny hop than the Levo. So I thought the next ebike I will get will be an SL ebike.

I'm ready to buy a new bike, and trying to decide what to get. SL ebikes don't seem to get a lot of love from professional reviewers in general (there are exceptions) and there have been issues with the TQ motor which make me wary. I live in an area where test rides are not commonly catered for, but today I went to a new bike shop and they offered me a ride on an Amflow PL. The bike was better in every way compared to the 21 Levo (unsurprising) but I still found it difficult to manual and subsequently Bunny hop. I dont need that much power (the power was nuts) but the bike did corner very well and I enjoyed it.

So my question for those that have ridden both the Exe and Full Power ebikes - were my carpark impressions from a couple of years ago correct in that it feels much easier to get the front wheel up on an SL bike like the Exe and therefore it is easier to hop the bike and play with the bike on the trail?

Let me know if anything's unclear.

All ebikes will always be harder to trick on flat surfaces. It's just physics. Lighter bikes are more fun, especially in the car park. But when you got on the trail, the weight difference deminishes the steeper you go, up to the point where added weight becomes annoying when you brake. I think the perfect sweet spot for weight is 16-18 kg. It's enough weight to make it a good plow and have good traction in corners and make suspension work great but not too much that it makes the bike a slow feeling pig. Sadly, battery, material and motor science has not come far enough (and may never) to make a sub 18 kg ebike feel solid enough to take on the fun trails.
AMflow or exe are both good options, exe being a burlier bike with smaller motor and battery, and amflow being a bike with a lot more power and a much bigger battery.
I love my exe but im in the process of selling mine for an amflow because of the much larger battery and still being relatively light weight. I just fear that the frame is too flimsy for me, but time will tell.

I have an Exe and just had my first ride on my new Amflow Carbon (non-pro). The Amflow definitely feels heavier and more difficult to pop, I also felt a bit of weight when leaning in the corners. Didnt do any wheeling. Its still not as bad as an heavier fullfat e-mtb. Overall I didnt come off my first ride with the impression that it was very heavy or anything. And as you maybe know more weight has benefits when things get rowdy.

I would also really caution against the TQ-50 unless you know what you are getting into, its far less powerful then a spez 1.1 motor (35nm) at 100W for example. Feel like I need to input around 175W to get a big boost from the motor.

It looks like there are a new batch of firmware updates available for the hpr 50 batteries, display etc.

Has anyone installed them yet?

Do bike shops upgrade the firmware free? I bought my EXE at a local bike shop almost three years ago and haven't been back in about two years.

Recently got a new older fuel exe at a bargain price, but it creaks when under load, been back to the bike shop, first ride back out and it’s worse, they have replaced pivot bearings. But am I right in thinking it’s probably the motor holding bolts or chain ring?

No creak when I’m sat down cycling low power but the second I stand and drop some power would say it’s a crack and then a creak that doesn’t stop, carries on even when I sit down.

Yep it's motor bolts and no matter how much grease mine and my buddys will start talking after a while. I find the easiest way to get rid of it is actually chain oil. A few drops and it's quiet for a week. Then once in a while i clean it all up and start over. It's one of the most annoying things about the bike

Did anyone actually get the updated app? Not showing in the iOS store for me. My TQ app is still 2nd July. Not going to ask the bike shop for an update until I get the app. Could it be regional? I'm in Australia.

The latest TQ App in the App Store is v1.6.10, which was released three weeks ago. I can confirm that this version of the TQ app supports the functions of the latest firmware updates. I'm running the latest firmware.

Have you correctly torqued the motor bolts and checked the motor compensator bolts (torx t55, don’t have to drop motor ) are correctly set. I had a power creak, every time left foot was about 6 or 7 o’clock, fixed by above.

Tbh I asked the bike shop to check and review. Oddly when I spoke to them today they seem convinced it’s the headset…

Beginning to wonder if I should take it to a different trek dealer.

Is there anything I should take into account when swapping out brakes, especially running the rear brake hose? Should I drop out the motor or is it possible to run as is? Going from the Code R to Dominion A4 which have a bit bigger hose diameter compared to sram / shimano.

I did that without taking the motor out. However I took the battery out and the plastic cover which sits in the area of the battery opening under the battery.
I bought a cheap hose Installation tool, connected the wire to the old hose and pulled the hose out, replacing it with the wire. Then I connected the new hose the wire and the same procedure in reverse.
