SZZS specific CEF50-main thread (initial builds and troubleshooting related only)

Any news? Have you bought it from Jean?
It was a bit of a pain, they initially wanted me to send back the parts which was going to be pretty expensive to ship as I would have to cover the costs. After negotiating with Jean they decided to replace the parts and I had to pay for shipping and painting which was $65 USD.

Hi everyone,

Has anyone ever experienced play in this area?

On both sides of this axle, there's a slight lateral play, as if the bolt is too long and isn't properly clamping the axle (once tightened, the bolt spins fairly freely in its housing). Just to clarify: the internal spacers are in place, the axles are greased, and the frame only has 50km on it...

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi everyone, I'm going to buy a pair of wheels but I don't know if 29-29 or 29-27.5. Has anyone tried both configurations? At the moment my cef50 is mullet but I have the impression that the front is "too light". this bike was designed for 29 - 29 and 170mm fork. My DVO Jade X 210x55 coil shock with 27.5 tyre has no problem but I think that with the 29 I should shorten the travel. I don't know if 52.5 is enough or if I need to reduce it to 50

210x55 will work well with 29 and you end up with 165 rear / 170 front travel.
How do you find the coil shock on the CEF50? Im tempted to move from my air to coil since the frame is quite progressive

Thanks for your reply! I've never tried an air shock on this frame to compare but my coil shock feels good! is a dvo jade x. I was looking for info about 29" rear wheel and 210x55 because i had read somewhere that it wasn't possible.

If it's CEF50 V2 or V3 you're good, I have my CEF50 with 210x55 and 29 rear and works brilliantly fine! Considering going for a vivid coil ultimate 210x55 since I like the coil feel a bit more

I love the DHRII 2.4 rear Assegai 2.5 front combo and I use it in all my bikes! Maxterra rear maxxgrip front.

I got some rides on the FakeTaxi f1 firmware for the m820 and GOD what an upgrade, 100% natural feel, more power and battery lasts longer. I just need to upgrade my rear shock which i'm not 100% happy about but apart from that I love this bike

Yes, great bike! I’m very happy too! I’m riding with faketaxi e1 firmware, i’d like to try f1 version

Just wanted to document for others that one of our m820's failed. Clunk, then display went dark and would not start again. Battery is good and display ok. About 2000 miles on motor. Probably the motor controller but could NOT buy spare part from any source including Bafang a motor controller for repair. Had to buy new motor. Not happy about that.

Not according to Bafang. Don't really care what "people" have run.
I never done on the M820 (i use only 48V), but on M500, M600, M510, etc... Since the begining (like the BBS before) it's exactely the same harware and only the software make differency following battery power supply. Fortunately, i heard experincy of bafang customers to maintain my motors. You are high level VIP if you can have direct bafang support :eek :

I just wrote Bafang looking for the part and they said it was not available. I had my retail sources also check and they confirmed that Bafang does not have any and that the 48v is not the same. It does not make sense that the motors would be the same. You can apply any voltage you want but each motor has a characteristic Kv the rpm per volt. So trying to run a motor at a voltage that it is not designed for is not going to be efficient.
Also there is an old M820 and a new M820, The new M820 has different connectors.

Hi Mike, How could I check if I have an old or new M820 - would it be something to do with serial numbers etc.,?

Thanks

"This controller is suitable for M820 G532 motor. It has 36V 43V 48V specifications, please choose according to your motor model when purchasing."

"M820 motor has new and old models, currently on sale is a new controller, please pay attention to whether the controller plug is the same as the controller interface of your motor."

You can't see it from the outside.

Actually from these photos from SZZS if looks like the new version has the cables coming out in the top of the motor vertically when the old motor they came out of a little box and went sideways.
