Levo Gen 4 Specialized Gen 4 Levo - Official Thread

Aluminum cogs will wear very fast on an ebike. The more you ride them in maxxed out turbo the quicker they will melt away. The chain will then start to jump over the cogs in turbo and it will get worse quickly. Especially if you 'shift' with the motor and ride only one cog like I see many people do. So the rest of the cassette is basically pristine but some smaller cog is toast.

Steel lasts longer but it won't take any abuse either, especially the chain. You have to remember the torque of modern ebike motors is in the region of older small cars. Just compare the gearboxes of the cars with a derailleur bike drivetrain and you'll realize that if you operate it wrong you could tear the thing apart with a dumb shift (especially if it's mechanical and you shift over the cassette with multi shift in turbo on a steep ascent as a heavy rider, it basically can rip off the derailleur and eat it).

Soooo, reading through this thread, how many people have had motor failures with the new Levo? My lbs has had some broken chains, a gutted free hub and a couple broken motor covers. So far from what I am seeing in NJ, the new motor seems reliable…… what are you seeing?

First think I did was replace teh 36T DT Swiss star ratchet with a 24T ebike steel option .... the extra power is sure to chew through the alloy star ring.

Very wise...its what DT Swiss fit to their hybrid 350 hubs.......and therefore what both my Whyte RSXs have...bulletproof.

I ran the 52t upgrade for 2 summers. No problems. It's got 400k ft vert on it and 3000 miles all on dirt and in the mountains.

I would like to thank you guys for your help. I just got my updated battery cradle which fixed the battery issue so far 🤞.
Looks like I was the first one in Portugal getting it & the Specialized importer never heard of this problem before.
Specialized should make an official recall IMO which apparently is not the case at least here in Europe.
Feels good to get my bike back ✌️

Please Help. I can no longer pair my G4 to the Specialized App (on my iPhone 13). It was working fine since April 2025. Bike shop cannot fix it, so they started a case with Spesh Mexico. This is how far we get when we do the pairing process.

Yes. Also did a reset to factory settings -
Try removing the battery for an hour or maybe overnight. Then, when you put it back in, try pairing it with your phone again. I had trouble connecting to my bike, and a hard reset helped (I held the power button for 50 seconds, and that helped). Fingers crossed 🤞

I’ve seen certain phones have issues connecting to things. Try a newer or at least different phone.
Make sure yours can update to the most recent IoS
Some older phones are no longer supported by Apple updates.
I’m tossing out ideas, not any type of expert.

I was going to recommend the exact same thing, "try a different Phone". I recently had a similar iPhone 13 issue and used a different phone and the issue resolved (different SW but same type of issue). Sorry I know not everyone has a second phone. Also, the remove battery part is a good idea, don't believe you need to remove for 24hrs, just pull the battery and hold the "power on" button for 10-20 sec and that should draw out any residuals.

News on troubleshooting - I paired my Gen 3 on my iPhone 13 - but still not able to do the same with my G4. Dealer says waiting for guidance from Global

Try removing the bike from your bluetooth devices in your phone settings. The Gen4 shows up as the last 4 digits of the serial number not the whole serial number as other Gen Levo’s did. Once you forget the bike from there it should pair again in the app.

This seems to be common when the factory reset on the bike has been done.

yeah tried that plus all other suggestions - thanks for your help.

Mine did this , the dealer told me to hold the mode switch up and press the power on for 30 seconds, and it came back to life within 15 seconds . Been good since
