Levo Gen 4 Specialized Gen 4 Levo - Official Thread

Has anyone else picked up that in the Gen 4 owners manual it recommends pedaling lightly during shifting? This is literally the selling point of the Sram transmission to be able to shift under load.

Interestingly enough the DJI power increase update also added a momentary power drop during shifting. I wonder if Specialized will add this?
Just did a quick search of the manual and could not find, what page? The power drop would make sense as you power is no where indicative of the power on you chain in a shift. I can only state from my experience the shifts are very smooth both under and off load but at the end of the day the chain is experiencing high than average loads. My MTBs sound way worst when I drop on a hard climb... that sound that makes you think there goes my chain. The other part is that with the added power its a lot easier to cheese out the wrong gear on a eMTB.

Correct. I always press the center knob up first then press the bottom button to avoid shutting the bike off.

Yes entering this mode is the worst, I have mistakenly hit the top button and reset my ride and even turned off the bike.

On non emtbs. I think it would be silly to ever think that on a derailleur based drivetrain it would be good to shift under high load, especially now that motors have 20-30NM more than they used to.

Ya but we do it all the time  especially on unfamiliar trails

Do you mean....... push the center toggle down and the bottom button at the same time to get to the correct screen to enter class3?

So according to the manual its joystick up + Bottom Button. Once in the settings menu you scroll down and see the class selection.

If the cranks were made for the gen 3, the two sides have different offsets. So if you check the distance between the crank arm when it's next to the chain stay you will see that one is much closer than the other....If they are both the same distance, then were they not gen3 specific cranks.
You are correct. The distances are a little different but they are pretty close. I can live with it until Hope makes a pair specifically for the new Levo.
How did the 2.6 rear fit? Could you please post some pictures?
Opps I fixed my post. I have a 27.5x2.8 in the rear. I think it has pretty good clearance.
Have you managed to get a cable for the extender yet? They are out of stock in the UK.
Yes, they had them in stock.

Do you mean....... push the center toggle up and the "S" button at the same time to get to the menu screen, then scroll down to the speed screen then select 28mpg which is class3?

Dropped the bars down bike feels much better. Running less pressure in my shock which feels better, still doesn't feel great. Swapping to a coil for a back to back comparison. 38's wont get full travel either. On a plus side its a trophy collector on strava, Kom's both up and down every ride despite not being comfortable

I swear the orange comp makes the bike look even fatter. After seeing the bike in the wild i dont think i could live with its looks when my current bike is fine.

Yes but it's hard to get it right pressing at the same time so I always press the toggle up first then the "S" button to get to that settings menu.

Did Specialized quietly do away with the Class 3 capability? I recently bought a gen 4 and was trying to figure out how to switch modes. It isn't mentioned on the Specialized website anywhere or in the manual online. If they have its not a big deal i probably wouldn't have ever used it. I just wanted to try it out and cant find any info on how to switch that power on.
It has to be setup at your LBS.

I have been trying with the various rebound settings but it may require a token. The bike rides like a Cadillac which in most circumstances is great, but when you get on to roller like terrain (especially climbing) it feels bouncy.
Im 175lbs and the shock works great with 230lbs, 5 rebound and 7 comp. no change in tokens.

Just wondering, what's your weight and what pressures are you running your shocks at? Also, what do you have the Low speed compression and damping controls set at? Reason I ask is my LBS totally had my shock set up wrong and I was like this thing feels terrible until I did the research to understand how to set it up correctly to my weight.

I was speaking with the Specialized rep and he stated that setting the rear sag at 16mm is the point where the bike is going to work best.

Sounds like lawyer talk. I dont think Spesh needs to because the power is not enough to overload the drivetrain.

I hope they add auto/free shift soon. That should be a software update. I think they are working hard on autoshift and its the resaon the sram motor is not out yet.

I may have the pressure a little lower, I think I started at @225 and the calculator states 234 (@180lbs). I mean even at 225 it feels fine for 98% of my riding. Its just over the quick / short spaced rollers that it feels bouncy. I have been impressed how its handled 6+ foot drops and jumps.

It did not have to be setup at my LBS, just needed to access the settings menu and select class 3
Interesting when I was picking mine up I had to log into the app and register my bike before the lbs was able to add class 3. It was about a 10 minute wait for them to load it. This is in the US.

Well yes the bike does have to be connected to a computer to start update firmware and link the bike to the app for ownership and warranty, but the class 3 selection is just selection in the settings menu

If you ride and only look at the top/down tube area all the time.....You probably crash a lot!!
