The Ploughman probably had very little to do with it Steve .. computer controlled these days ..On Saturday, I did the Belvoir Loop to the west of Grantham. It starts in the village of Stathern and climbs steeply up Stott Hill for about 300 feet before joining the Jubilee Way, various trails and roads and villages before joining the Viking Way for a spell, the Grantham/Nottingham canal. Then a long climb to the highest point for miles around Belvoir Castle then back on the Jubilee way again before descending back down the escarpment into Stathern. Distance 18.1 miles, no idea what elevation.
I saw this field from the Jubilee Way; I think it is a beautiful example of the ploughman's art!

Mind you, he had good soil!

We're you out poaching or robbing, all camouflaged up. I have a couple pairs of army goretex trousers for the wet. Desert ones not been on yet , camouflaged Mechanix gloves as wellCoastal riding in great weather. Riding on the rocks is the best.

Why does your bike always look cleanThis wooded area was full of small Christmas tree-sized spruces when I started mountain biking. Now they've grown considerably larger.

So I'm thinking it's a disused railway line ? We have some not that distance though. Or maybe I should check. One that cracks me up is that straight road in Australia 90 miles long ????. I knew Jenny Graham quite well she was on about cycling it she said you could see a car light but it was a couple hours before it reached you , crazy that.2 day Rail trail sojourn(not too many bike parks or mountains hereabouts) 120 kms round trip
