On a typical day I find myself passing by many unsanctioned trails that some well intention young lads have decided would be a great idea to build for one reason or another. Yesterday, I decided to take a tour down one of those trails as it can get a little routine riding the same trails listed on Trailforks, over and over, here on the North Shore. The trail started on on a moderate decline an suddenly went into a steep fall line with 3-4 foot drops/rolls. Nothing I couldnt handle on an average day but as it has been raining here for a few days, one such drop ended up on a diagonal root which promptly tossed me over the bars after my front tire gave way when I landed on the root. No injuries but my elbow pads dug two 3" ditches in the soft loam as I slid down the side of the mountain for a good 3-4 feet after landing. I love my elbow pads and never ride without them!
