Took a wrong turn at one point and ended up climbing a rocky narrow trail, then got a leg cramp in the quad. Ok let me just stand here in the middle of this trail for 10 min until I can bend my knee again! 😆

I regularly ride Tunnel Hill over at Pirbright/Deepcut... a military training area. There are quite a lot of trenches that were apparently created by the army around 1917/18 for training. Many of these can be ridden and it's good fun riding with the high banks of the trenches both side of you as they undulate up/down around the hills... the only downside is that they tend to accumulate a lot of forest debris.
I have spent hours clearing the trenches of brambles, nettles, fallen branches, and sometime entire trees that have fallen across the trench. There is a UK Government committe that looks after grade 1, 2 & 3 listed properties. These are the guys that stop owners of 15th Century thatched cottages from replacing the thatch with concrete tiles, or from installing double glazing or even a modern kitchen. The trenches are grade 1 listed, and they wanted to stop access by mtb riders. The head ranger at Sherwood Pines (an mtb and emtb rider himself) successfully argued that the riders keep the trails open and should be left alone as they provide free labour.
The trenches that are not ridden are impassable, totally blocked with heavy duty brambles, nettles, trees, and bracken. I opened up one short trench that I discovered, because it linked two sections of trail that I wanted to be connected more easily. It took me hours and hours. Free labour yes, but I was paid back in fun. :)

Full sympathy !
While stopping at the end of a trail section once straddling the bike with both feet on the ground ..both legs cramped fully top of my thighs to the tip of my toes ..I just had to stand statuesque until the pain subsided .
It was a frightening experience ..for not only myself but my two mates ..
I really thought I was going to croak ..thankfully it hasn't repeated itself and hopefully never will..

It's a good job that your battery didn't choose that moment to catch fire!

Taking the most of the late summer good weather. Had a great run today only about thirty miles away from me this area .. Startied at Gamrie then along to Crovie and ended up in Pennan mix of off road and singletrack road. Lovely places. Local Hero Movie phone box picture is the most taken in Scotland probably. Troup head quite famous for Gannet nesting according to Attenborough. Anyway enjoy the pics , excuse the amount.

Green on green!

That reminded me that My Fair Lady has a song in German „Es grünt so grün, wenn Spaniens Blumen blühen“ (It's so green when Spain's flowers bloom). When checking for the English text I only found its „The Rain in Spain stays in the plain“.

Who says Germans are pessimistic!? 😀😉
