OK - what's one of those? [I'm new to this] - edit - never mind, I've found explanations on t'internet.
I put one on the e-st500. I think I posted something about which one fitted. Makes the bike a lot more rideable when you're descending.

Looks as though your puny hanger is bent, my Giant hanger never bends. Err... The derailleur generally just burst instead.
That's what I thought .. amazingly the hanger is pretty straight, it might have a tiny twist in, I can't decide .. will try to pick one up tomorrow - but this is France so I'm sure they'll say "Erm, a hanger, in stock, nooo it's a 12 week delay and it will be one million million euro's and anyway, we close for lunch in two hours so we can't possibly serve you, can I interest you in this stale baguette ?"

The derailleur's own mini hanger had taken most of the hit, but every part of the derailleur is also bent .. I did wonder (as a challenge) if it was possible to straighten it out, but there's actually sections of metal sheared off the cast sections (it's lighter now...) I think the clutch selector mechanism is also defunct. It was off, but when I freed the chain it almost took my hand off like a mouse trap.

It's actually @Specialized Rider Care 's fault. After much analysis of my crap riding style, too low cadence due to a ruptured Achilles tendon is heavily to blame for low battery life. Hence, I hugely over compensated with spinning like a mad man for the whole ride. If I'd been grandma plodding, said demi-tree would have just slid in there, caused a slight derailment, a pleasant moment of debarking and viola - no excitement. Instead I have the new Over the top derailleur system (which for reference doesn't work).

Re-composing myself on a high ground after crossing a swamp, as you do on a mud island

What you cannot see very well is that my pant is soaking wet, with mud sticking out of my pockets. However, grin-factor, off the chart!

Actually, I was amazed that the bike after being submerged under the water, and dragged out of the bog, the motor & electonics didn’t miss a beat, and after I removed wet weeds and inspected moving parts, we carried on. The only side effect was squeaky brakes

Zimmer - I gave your post a ? for the upper photo, such an idyllic scene.
I didn't comment on the unusual derailleur position - I thought it was just the way you set the B-screw in France.

Oh that’s a really cool mod for increased ground clearance! Nice!

The exit guide derailleur configuration is very common in France.

It does tend to get caught in your shopping though.

We call it the "Roll-off"
