I put one on the new one as well. Its to stop people yanking it out and damaging the right angled connector.

The service manual also refers to a zip tie to be fitted to reduce the strain on the connector......not sure you can refer to the black cable tie as a zip tie, so is there supposed to be a zip tie as well maybe to control the tension in the looped section. The service manual does not go into fitting details for the cable.

It’s to stop idiots pulling the cable too far out of the motor housing and snapping off the connector at the other end.
