Would it be Ok to speak in this thread, if we referred to you as "Lord Tooks" ? Asking for a friend ....... 🤭

Anyway ....... I just pre-ordered the Velduro frame. Gee Milner put out a Dream Build video of this frame build with a Podium yesterday. It looks great. But I have concerns due to my riding.

I ride in the National Park where the trails are mostly natural trails. There are many technical rock garden climbs, where you climb between large rocks, and if you stall. Before you can get a foot down, the bike leans over and may contact these rocks. This sometimes scratches your, chainstay, seatstay, cranks, pedals, derailleur cage or fork lower. Items close to the ground. I remedy this by running ride wrap on any of these items I can.

As I had this exact experience yesterday, and I saw the Gee Milner video yesterday. I had a light bulb moment and I thought I'd ask in this thread how the Podiums would fare when this happens, as I cannot run ride wrap on the lowers. And I cannot just simply touch up the lowers, like I can the derailleur cage and cranks.

......... Sorry to those that didn't want the full novel. But I'm hoping not to get scolded by Lord Tooks again ....... :ROFLMAO:
I’ve wrapped my lower fork guards, actually I’ve wrapped the whole fork

i have the podium on my lte. It lossks so beefy. I like that. Makes the bike look so much more sporty

I wrapped my lowers too. Just nice.

I heard there are new seals avaible. Any one has recently had a service after leaking ?
Just went for first ride today after having seals replaced with the new ones fox sent out. No leaks after first ride (which cant be said for old seals) fork felt better than ever but it does help it now has oil in it again. Hopefully these new seals hold up.

Are these things still lubricating rotors and pads, or has fox fixed them with new seals ?
To those with new seals, do you feel the fork has more drag with the tighter seals ?

i didn*t had any issues with oil on breakpads and rotor. a little oil is seeabkle.

I am wondering of the oem forks on the shuttle also are bleeding.

One of the things I’m curious about, lots of bikes coming with them this year. Are they going to be a warranty nightmare ?

How do you Fox Podium owners clean your bike especially when the stanchions are oily? Do you take your wheels off or leave them on?
I have a Kärcher low pressure washer, and I guess it would contaminate the disc brake. Also, my mucoff discbrake covers are useless because you can’t install it with this new set up. So wheel off or on? 🤷‍♂️

Foaming cleanser and soft rinse. Then wipe with a paper towel wrapped around stantions. From top to bottom. I leave wheels on. I always wipe my brake discs with isopropyl after any cleaning.

Met a woman at Hawes last week who is a very experienced rider and she swore by her Podium. She said initially her seals leaked, but she brought it to Fox’s western service canter here in Scottsdale, and it has been dry ever since. IMG_2404.webp

I just put my Podium through the wringer at Tiger mtn again today . Podium ate it all. Fully bottomed hard on a pretty massive 8-12 ft tree drop. Massive high speed roots (OTG, Predator) were no problem.
I really love this fork.
Still no leaks from new. 200 miles
Lots of double black diamond abuse….
I would buy it all over again. Wouldn’t mind some HBO once in awhile is my only gripe.

Hey,

i did get a service on my fork on warranty because of the oily seals. I did get a gen 2 seal on the fork. It is dry since then. Did some proper riding. Gen 2 Seals seem to hold the oil back :D

Great fork :D

I had an Intend post mount adaptor fail on the podium causing the podiums brake mount to bend badly.
I managed to straighten it while sweating bullets.
As much as I like the intend mounts aesthetics, I’m not risking it again!
Picture is taken after I straightened to show the stress marks.

is your brake compatible with those adapters?

not all brakes are:

(list is under FAQ)

Yeah there were no issues with the compatibility, I thought it might be due to the extra stress the podiums design puts on the adapter.
I emailed Intend but they were only interested in selling me a new fork haha!

Just thought I’d share the info, might save someone a fork tube replacement.

i only have used that adapter in the back so far, of course with its intended brake ;)

Just ordered a Podium with apparently the new updated 'gen 3' seals. Biggest headache of this is a new DT240 OS hub and spokes for a front wheel rebuild.

Ok, fork settings

Believe it or not, Fox have actually made a fork the feels awesome ! Shock horror... I've owned 20-25 Fox forks over the years on my bike or my 2 boys bikes, Enduro, trail, XC etc... from Factory, Perf elite, Perf and Rhythm.

The online community says the factory posted Fox setting are just about spot on, I'm tending to agree with that. My pressure was a bit high after 2 rides with jumps and drops of moderate height, I had 40mm of travel left at 90psi... I am 90kg ready to ride.

Dropped the pressure to 80psi and adjusted the HRS/LSR HSC/LSC as per specs, also got it wrong as I have just found out there are 2 volume spacers in the fork from factory (not 4) and 4 supplied with the fork. Not as big jumps/drops as the first 2 rides but I have 20mm travel left after today, so I'll sit on 80psi for the next few rides.

Obs - This fork rides higher than a 38 with sensational small bump compliance.

Reckon this will be a work-in-progress but documenting all my changes, probably not far off but really liking this fork so far after 4 rides.

Thought so far. Plush as, over small bump. Rides higher than a 38. Feels great on G-out compressions, CSU doesn't creak :p
More playing to come but I wont be far from Fox recommended settings by the way its trending. Will keep the post updated.
