• Warning!!

Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

Dji avinox

Hey
I am new to the avinox system and really like it so far.

I tried the connect the system by vpn (hide.me) today, but without a result. Should I delete the bike from the app first and reinstall it? Or should I use a different app (nordVPN)?

I connected without wifi and just disconnected from the bike, added vpn and reconnected. I did this several times without unlocking the speed limit.
Of course I only use the bike on my private property.
Need to unpair the phone from the bike. Connect your VPN to the country you are trying to set speed limit for. e.g. New Zealand. Then pair your phone to the bike.

Thanks! I tried this several times already, but this does not work.
I disconnected from wifi, unpaired the bike, set vpn to new zealand, paired with the bike, but it stays on 25kmph max. I also tried cancelling all the data from the bike, but without any luck.
Did anyone have similar issues?

I am not sure if the EU Version does not work that way. In the app the 27.5 wheel is fix, but on the bike it says 29, which cannot be changed either.

Is this the Unno?
Maybe they got another Firmware, because afaik the Unno is only sold in EU?
I also heard somewhere, that the basic tune on the Unno is differnt as it is on the amflow bikes...

Thank you, this is really helpfull! Yes it‘s a Unno. So I have to find someone, who can change the firmware on the bike…

But the weird thing is the 29" rear tire, becuase the Unno has a 27.5" rear tire... Did you check the speed shown on the display with a gps app on the phone?

From what I’ve read, and there’s a YouTube video out there as well (I’ll try and find the link), it’s the latest versions of the App that have implemented the VPN hack block.

Rolling back to an earlier version of the App still works apparently, but it could be that Unno have implemented a custom firmware or even been sent Avinox units configured differently, some kind of ‘customer tune’? 🤔

EDIT: He talks about the region issue he’d been having, he mentions having to scroll down to the ‘Erase All Data’ section on the bike control menus, and then it worked.

Hi
No, I will do this, thanks. The app shows 27.5.
it seems the firmware is a EU Version and is limited to 25 kmph. As long as there is no hack or hardware to tune the motor, there is no possibility for tuning.

The newest version for my bike is v1.3.22, so this leads again to the different firmware theory. I tried cancelling the existing data, but without a difference.

I read somewhere that also the unno could be derestricted, but i'm not able to find the post.

Well! If you watch the latest EMBN YT video, the Amflow representative in that video says that Amflow are "all about being compliant with the 25 kph speed limit". (30.50 on video).
As far as I am concerned, if that really is the case, they have just lost their USP and I'll be sticking with my Rail.

Just checked this, thanks.
Hopefully, there will be a tuning module to get rid of the speed limit in the future.

If there is anyone with an Unno and EU firmware who was successful with the VPN or another digital solution, please let me know:)!

What about one of them slotted disks ive seen advertised? I thought them unnecessary due to the vpn hack, but if this no longer works then maybe an option?

Never hesrd of this, but would be a simple solution if it works! Do you have any link or picture?

Found it! Ordered one and try it :). I let you know if it works. Thank you!

Following as i intend to buy a velduro rogue with an avinox motor. It will be a pain if they have buggered around to stop the vpn hack like it sounds unno have done 🤬

Actually now i remember i spoke to a guy a month back with the unno at the bikepark. It had literally just come out and it was his first ride, he had done the nz vpn hack.
Personally i dont do updates or use apps etc on my current bike, seems too risky.

As @GeordieKenevo mentioned in other threads, its a massive risk if the derestriction can be removed by firmware updates, especially if this is one of the reasons for buying the bike.
Good luck sorting it anyway.

Update: With NordVPN and Hong Kong as location it also worked with the Unno (newest update) on the first try! The problem seemed to be hide.me somehow. As mentioned, I tried it several times before.
Tried today also on am amflow with no success. Would using an iPhone be the culprit ?

- Disconnect the phone (in the avinox app)
- Ignore the bike in the bluetooth setting
- start vpn (hong kong 45kmh / new zealand 33kmh)
- reconnect the bike with the qr code
- go fast

If it does not work, try another vpn app. With nord vpn and an iphone it worked perfectly.

yes this actually worked fine. It just didn't work the first time I connected maybe because it pushed the firmware update at the same time. Thanks

ProtonVPN on iphone worked fine also for the Unno.
I have set it to US, 20mph is perfect for my taste on the trails.
I thought I saw somewhere, that you can put it in 28mp mode temporaly with the "US Firmware".
Can someone maybe tell me more about thtat feature?

I`d like to be able to tell you but I've not been able to get mine to take on a US VPN server yet, it just sets it to 20mph and the option to change does not appear (it should appear at the bottom of the menu on the bike, just above General).

Have changed between UK, HK, NZ, no problems 15.5mph and 28 for both the others.

My current line of thinking is the US ones ship with a different firmware, and it`s not possible to replicate the option in the EU/outside US. When I asked in the general amflow thread for the USA peeps to confirm both app and bike firmware I got nothing back. Maybe someone from US would like to help here with that answer?

I have a Crestline with the Dji Avinox motor. And I have a class 3 (28mph) option that I can select in the display menu. The bike does reset back to its default class 1 (20mph) when you power off the bike. So we have to manually set it to class 3 everytime you power on the bike.

Could you check what FW your Avinoox Motor is running on?
