DH World Cup thread

I'll take that as a no then. 🤪 Either way my picks were terrible, 46 points yet somehow I've shot up 1400 places. Felt for Ryan Pinkerton, that was a freak incident he'll never do again & without it, he would have been on thebox or thereabouts.
I think Ryan had a few good splits, so he would likely have been top 3 or so. Bummer, I had him on my Vital team. And damn, Asa had the fastest time of everyone! He probably could’ve done a backflip in the final and still won!

I wonder if Neko told him not to backflip in the the final? 😂 There is a noticeable element of 'Watch this!' with the juniors. Predictions are a mugs game, despite all of us doing it every round & I have said it before, the next wave of dominance will be Asa, Jackson & the Alran brothers.

Keen on a EMTB group next year. Im
Currently in a work one but could drop out of that. Got 84 points for last round. 266th place overall.

Bloody goldstone 😂

Humble Brag…..😂

Off topic somewhat, but I am looking to have a holiday in New Zealand next year, I’ve wanted to visit for 40years. Realistically, when is the best time of year?

I assume for riding? Can’t go wrong in summer so anywhere from Nov to Feb. can easily get away in shoulder seasons too so add October, march and April to the above.

No riding unfortunately, this would be purely as a tourist. We are thinking of four weeks there, hopefully doing both islands. Now, if the itinerary happened to pass by some bike parks, it’d be remiss not to maybe have a day riding….. 🤔

I'm beginning to think about the off season manouevering. Pure speculation other than the YT Mob who are certain to fold, sadly. Vali, Andi & Oisin will be fine I'm sure but there's a roster of enduro, slopestyle & freeride guys whose futures don't look great, along with all the support staff. Pivot have had a stinker & I wonder if wholesale changes are on the horizon there, Norco have had a blinder with the exception of Danny Hart & I wonder if Richie Rude will want to hang around a discipline that routinely cuts his weekend short.

Sadly, I suspect Finn might be ditched. I‘ve been keeping the faith with him for the last few races but I think he’s a spent force now, relatively speaking. Specialized will want consistent podium riders.

Bloody hell, racing eh?

Not much take up this weekend here but there are interesting talking points. Vali effectively being the only privateer I know of to ever win an overall. The mens goes to the wire & Luke Meier Smith finally coming good & on a Giant which is their first world cup win since Rob Warner in 1996!

PB comment which made me laugh - Luke's won it on a f*****g rental!

I'm not sure you can call her a proper privateer when she was supported through most of the season and is currently pitting with SRAM

Finn doesn't appear in Q1 results anywhere, even as a DNS. Listed in Q2 start list though

Hoping to stay within the top 3-4% overall. Went a bit out there this round as I have a 170 point lead in my workplace comp.

Luke MS, BC, Finn, Gwin with Baumann and Cabirou.

All 6 are through just. So that’s a good start to the weekend. Race is on at 6am Sunday NZ time so I’ll get up early and watch it live. The men’s overall should be a beauty!

All six through…..

I always thought Finn would rise to the top and I have been a fan since he started racing but i feel his ego and cocky attitude got the best of him. looks like hes washed up now and yes i would not be surprised if spesh drops him for one of the top juniors. looking forward to watching the race today. track looks great.

Can't say I've ever thought of him as more cocky or egotistical than anyone else in the scene but you do you.
