• Warning!!

Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

Currently Amflow will be totally derestricted if you set it to NZ.

I believe its not "unrestricted" doesn't it just change it to the US/NZ 20mph max?

Well, I'm hopeful at least in the States that Bosch will be forced to increase the cutoff of their motor systems. Otherwise, most people will not purchase a new bike when Spesh is about to give their customers the choice to raise the limiter on the new Levo. This choice should have always been left up to the consumer and not the manufacturers. Besides, I'm not sure how often you guys ride on private land, but I certainly do a lot of rides on private property.

Thing is I only want 20mph☹️
If you just want 20MPH, consider getting a Speedi Planet magnet system. It does require you to replace the RIM magnet with the Bosch slim magnet on the hub, but you will get 23MPH with no errors as there is no chip required.

It looks very good. Sadly I have rim magnet no brake magnet 🤔😏.
You can have that converted by your local bike dealer very easily. They remove the RIM magnet and replace with a cable and sensor from the motor to a new hub magnet on the rear wheel. they then reprogramme the software to use the external sensor instead of the builtin motor sensor.

Yes that is true. I will contact few around me. I found them on bosch site.

I read a few problems with this planetary gears. Bikes going to limp mode. Sooner or later..

Maybe I Will just wait for a good chip. I hope they will be. I heard volspeed working on it. It will be available in summer.

Thanks for info👍tbh I’m getting ok with the cutoff now and will wait until something reliable comes out,idk how good speedbox are but they are apparently working on kit.

Here's my go at getting some more speed out of my bike. I'm based in Australia so 25kmhr limit. This modification takes it up 32kmhr

Does anyone have any experience of the BadassBox 5 BoschRim 37?

I have a Scott patron 910 with rim/valve magnet Kiox smart system, BDU3740 Bosch.
I really didn't want to start dropping the motor to fit a tuning kit, the Patron has the motor swung up into the frame so at a different angle to the norm and the BadAssBox seems straight forward. I don't seem to see many reviews on it online and not much on here either. I'm slightly concerned with error codes and bricking the motor as its still under warranty.

Any advice or info appreciated.

I have a bikespeed.de for gen4 cx rim magnet like martyfrommonmouth
Riding at max power all the time
I experienced a lot of "30km/h tamper" time, around 25% of time
And 2 days ago, got a 524001...
According to the seller, the only solution would be to increase tamper threshold ... or ride with less motor power

I don't know if badassbox 5 or Rimboost v2.37 can do better

Hi Embt: from all the research I've done, you seem to be having the most success with a derestricted Bosch Smart System. Could you PM me as I'd like to find out a bit more details about the speed settings, types of rides etc. I have a SpeedBox 1.1, but I'm beginning to think that the VolSpeed might actually be less detectable based on your experience
Didn't get a notification I've done 1900 miles no error woop woop

Hi,
I am looking for a solution for myself as well. Totally a newbie in e-bikes, of course I bought the CX rim-magnet solution because the bike was so pretty with all the LCD and features (so stupid not to read more before making decisions). Reading this thread makes me believe that it is a lost case for now. I had some high hopes for fot bikespeed set but from what I read here no system is error-proof at this point. Waiting for Alex' Planet system then.

I live in Poland and here we have a support limit of 25km/h After changing the software to the US, I have a limit of 32km/h (screenshot from the application in the attachment) I changed the software in a bike shop. I looked for a shop that sells bikes with a 32 km/h limit and asked them to change the software on my bike. They did it on the spot in 5 minutes

Hi, can you tell the shop name/location?

Planet system is not error free solution for Bosch smart system.

Thank you. It is over 250 km far from my place though :(

Just being curious, how does the bike perform after the change? Do you have a smart rim magnet config or "regular" brake sensor? Could you share your experience with us? (what distance did you make, any problems with motor and display functionalities?)

If you try it out, I would be there too. It would be great if they could do it remotely.
Keep me posted on how things are going with you
Highly doubt it. You need to be connected with some sort of a computer (with the appropriate software) to the USB-C port I suppose.

Maybe. Can you tell more?

Pole also did this remotely at the time and installed an update on the Bosch. All you have to do is connect your PC/laptop to the bike and the colleagues connected to the bike via your PC and carried out the software update

Czesc ;-)
What do you mean by "update on the Bosch"? Connect laptop with what? where to? And then what? - having a vpn tunnel with the "colleagues'" remote computer does not mean they can somehow magically connect to the motor without you having a physical interface I believe (eg. manufacturer's software installed on your PC).

by Pole I meant the company from Finland.
Among other things, I ride a Pole Voima :)
The colleagues from Finland sent me a piece of software and used it to access the bike via my PC

Don't know if anyone saw this but MTT just released the first Bosch derestricting with no chips only license key and a PC, for the smart system the solution is in development, but I have hope in the future, it's really cool for the Gen 1-4

1x EBT Unlock Key – Browser-Based Tuning for Bosch Gen1–Gen4
This sounds similar to the 'Stunlocker' license for Shimano E8000 motors where you could buy said license from a guy in Russia which let you change the market identity for your bike to a country with a 20 mph limit.
My description may make it sound a bit dodgy but it worked great.
