Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Hey guys,
looking to buy a bike with the bosch cx 4 Smart system and wanted to know how everyone is going with their unlock chips.

Currently Looks like the Volspeed seems to be the most reliable/least likely to occur detection? Has anyone come across any issues using it consistently at 40kmh + ?

I have a FOCUS bike and they don't want to accept it. The shop where I bought the bike has been trying for three weeks now, to no avail. Focus says it won't do that.
 
I had Speedbox 1.2B Tuning installed on my 2022 Bosch Smart System and had no end of problems. Removed and sold it. Then saw a post here about the Speedfun Furious Evo Easy + for Bosch Smart Systems. Took the plunge and I am super stoked. 5 Rides in and absolutely ZERO issues, the unit simply works! No waiting for a count down or any other nonsense I had with the Speedbox. (Sure, some complain about the unit not displaying the correct speed, however, you should be looking ahead on the trail not down at your display)! :LOL::ROFLMAO:

Did you update the bike's firmware before you installed the Furious Evo unit?

Currently running latest motor software v11.13.0. Never perform any updates with the tuning device installed. Furthermore, Speedfun will not guarantee that their tuning device will work with any future updates from Bosch. I don't plan on updating my unit any further anyway.

Speedfun doesn’t make a derestrictor for the rim magnet, only the rotor magnet. My friend also has the speedfun and accidentally left it installied when he had the last update installed and it’s still fine with no issues. He doesn’t use the display either so no speed errors.

Hello, I am having a CUBE with CX gen 4 bosch motor and I want to use a speedbox 3.0 bluetooth. The firmware is 1.1.5 and I am wondering if I will encounter problems with errors and limp mode. I dont want to go so fast just 40-45 km/h is enough for me.
 
is anyone successfull running the Speedbox 1.2 for bosch rim magnet ?

Hi E Bob - interested to hear from anyone who has been successful. I wasnt and i put every effort into making it work. Also, critically my conversations with the distributor indicated that i was one of many.

I returned my crap Speedbox 1.2 and converted my bike to a Bosch swing arm sensor/spoke magnet. Only way to go 🤘🏻

Correct, magnetic pedals (Hustle), interfere with the Bosch internal magnet sensor. The Bosch internal sensor picks up/sees the pedal magnets as they pass by the back side of the motor, which makes the speed very sporadic causing error codes and/or the motor assistance to reduce. Makes the bike unrideable.

I'm a hardware developer, and also a new owner of this crappy smart system. I wanted to see exact what kind of sensor is using inside the motor, for the RIM magnet, took the motor out and opened it. Unfortunately I cannot find any datasheets of it. It seems a multi axis hall sensor with SPI, at least based on the pin count and signal routing. Now if we are dealing with a 3 axis hall sensor I don't think it will work the electromagnet. I attached a picture with it. Maybe next week i will pull out the signals trough a cable and check what signals are provided to the microcontroller. Is still hope there is a PWM line from the sensor that can be ower-written.

so this tiny chip is the cause of all the problems ?

Hi there!

It's possible that the sensor you're dealing with could be from Facet, a well-known company in the automotive industry. Specifically, it might be the "KW 460 223" ABS wheel speed sensor, which is actually manufactured by EPS, a part of the Facet group. This type of sensor is used for measuring wheel speed in ABS systems. It's also conceivable that Bosch might be using a similar sensor with a slightly different product name for speed measurement purposes.

I'm thinking about that too. Do you happen to know if Canyon is willing to cooperate with this? I'm wondering what reason you need to give to get this done because the manufacturers are well aware that this is done to remove the speed limit.
 
I have bought this volspeed v2 and update on usage! Im gathering its a 50/50 it will be flawless.
But by tricking the bike its doing 13mph consistently seems like it will work.
 
A good update installed today went for a test run 😀

Went for a 25 miles run today 18mph in the the head wind 😀 battery 📉

On the way back 28mph with the wind 😀
Battery was warm after.

Volspeed is great switching speed

I was very skeptical installing it because of flow app maps but don't regret it

If n e 1 wants to go for it be safe I did it on the quiet private roads.
No errors disabled GPS on the flow app.

U do miss out on the flow ride maps and updates. I don't see how bosch can detect this if the speed is average 14mph and I'm going 28mph

My gollie it was fast and fun used all my gears 8th and 9th.
Without the map and tune I use 7TH gear.

Is this with the rim magnet sensor disabled?
Or are u using the reed switch system?
