Anyone removed the Trek Rail Battery Lock?

@Arron M it does not fit the 750wh battery

Are you going to make one that does fit the bigger battery?

Will the 750 not mount with just two screws ? or Do we think this puts too much strain ?

I guess if an alternative version was made it looks like it could have two holes in the third position to accommodate different screw positions for the 625/750 ? Presumably the other two would mount the battery in the correct position ?

Or a 1mm thick triangular drilled plate which sits on top of that like a giant "washer" and lets the third screw be engaged spreading the load over the whole bracket (without the side loading you'd put on the top screw if you just used a big washer)

I think the main problem is the mounting of the 750 OEM bracket uses M2 or M3 screws (I didn’t measure them but they are way thinner than the bolts that Aaron supplied for the 625) so the holes in a 750 angle bracket will need to be smaller to match.

I’m not sure I would trust just using two thin bolts to hold a 5kg battery in place, especially with holes that are way too big for the thinner bolts

How strong are M2 bots?

Washers on the two holes that are already in the correct place would allow the bracket to be fitted.

A third hole drilled for the lower bolt would be easy to do.

But how strong would 3 M2 bolts be?

Could anything be used to pack out the two holes that are in the correct position but are too wide?

Yes, you could use a shoulder washer or a shoulder screw, IMO even just a normal screw with a penny washer would hold, but I’d want the 3rd screw in place for peace of mind.

The 4 screws that hold the handle on to the 750wh battery are M3.

Do we thing three of these will be secure enough given the weight of the battery? I guess it’s only lateral load they will be taking.(?)

I don’t have any M3 bolts so will have to order some. I’ll get a wrists of thread pitch’s. It looks very fine on the OEM bolts.

I thought it was Nautical Biker that I hadn’t posted to? #confused!

Will hopefully get this working with the 750wh battery.

hopefully this dimension is the same between the 625 and 750wh frames...

I fitted the bracket today to my 750wh Rail.

Took a while to get it lined up, had to drill one more hole into the bracket to align it to the 750 mounting holes.

There is a lot of stuff to remove. A bit of a faff getting the rail plate off, but not too difficult.

Weights and measures below.

I also used some P rubber to fill the top and bottom gap.

The bad news…. My intermittent electrical issue has returned but I’ll post separately about that.

What continent are you guys from? I have a batch destined for USA that hasn’t left yet due to BuzzinHornets inactivity.

any ride reports yet chaps?
I have had a few electrical problems with my bike so been unable to ride it with the new battery bracket.
