120 Nm update for the Bosch CX and CX Race Announced

07:22 May 4th - Where's the update??? No update showing on the App, I've uninstall/reinstalled, still same. I'm not biking today with just 100nm like some peasant, I'll get laughed at
I've been waiting all day, no update ?

Installed power2.0 and rode the same trails I did yesterday…I thought I would start a thread on opinions, but feel free to pick one of the multiple Bosch vs Avinox discussions to merge it with.

Running: cube 177, turbo (all the time obviously), assistance +5, dynamic -2 (we shall come back to that), 120nm, 750w.

Installing - a total faff again, uninstalling and reinstalling the flow app to get it to recognise the updates 🙄

Initial impressions starting the ride - ok, feels the same climbing up a typical fire road. Can kind of feel better assistance, but probably placebo effect.

Onto the trails - motor doesn’t give anything new here. I am typically close to or above 10mph when I need to pedal, so any 600 vs 400% is immaterial and irrelevant. In tight corners 120nm wasn't giving me anything new that I could feel. In fact the motor was still noticeably bogging down. 600% is only relevant for climbing at 5-8mph in my view, which is fine, I will take it.

After a while - I thought, “right, let’s stop listening to Bosch shills on YouTube and whack the dynamic back up to +5” (I have been using -2 dynamic to keep traction in the wet, but of course traction is better when the motor doesn’t bother to do anything). Now I get a punch out of tight corners, but I feel very little difference overall when compared to when I had it maxed out pre update.

Verdict - if you can’t update, don’t sweat it, the dynamics of the bike barely change outside of a few (curated and climbing) use cases. Largely unnoticeable in my riding vs previous. It also makes my drivetrain noisier…will see if that’s a coincidence.
Just whack everything to +5 and live with some traction challenges every now and then.

Installed update on app via play store.

Installed update on bike.

No option for 120nm or anything in components offering. Just link to info for 2.0 update.

Cleared cache and storage for app.

Logged back in, prompted for update to drive unit and now 120nm available.

Cheers

Nothing for me yet.

Man Bosch is hard work trying to access their updates. I remember last time I had to delete and reinstall their app multiple times to get the upgrade...

One delete and reinstall and nothing yet.

Could someone in the US confirm if the 600% support works until 20mph?
In the bosch-ebike.com/us site I’ve read both that it does (“up to 600% support only up to 20mph”), and that it doesn’t (“up to 600% support is up 9.3mph only”… ) 🤔

Aligns with expectations from testing done by Velomotion... the 120Nm boost is temporary and not sustained, even at lower cadences. The 600% assist is only <15KPH and if anything they noted it sharpely falls from 600 to 400% right at 15 KPH, which they found annoying.

I feel like the fast charging and TC are highlights, because if you in it for power you'll be dissapointed.

so you did not need to wait for 24h to show up the 120nm ?

android play store flow app is not up to date, you need 1.35 and store is 1.34 , I'm in France

so few seconds of 120nm torque ? maybe 5 seconds ?

I got mine updated today. Had to delete and reinstall the app to get the update to show up initially and also to get the blue banner to install the 120Nm. You can for sure feel the difference. Especially in the initial "grunt". I would also like an explanation on where the 600% adjustment comes from. Is it at a certain number in the assistance section? +5 = 600%?

I thought I saw it mentioned somewhere that there would be an option to enable 80% charge limits on the battery but I can’t find it anywhere. Anyone have that?

Future... like fast charger, extended boost setting, tensioner, blah, blah. All you get, maybe 😂 ... torque, assist, trick counter, TC in turbo (-2 setting) and in eMTB in 0 and -2.

Correct. Also bear in mind 600% is only avaialbe in Turbo, eMTB+ and Auto riding modes.

Velomotion article on Performance 2.0 update describes it as:

"In Turbo mode, the setting "+0" corresponds to approximately 340 percent. At "+2," we hit the 400 percent mark exactly. Pushing the dial to "+5" brings us very close to the promised 600 percent on our test bench"

Also Bosch's Performance 2.0 site:

update succesful - No torque upgrade.

Before -

Drive unit software : 19.24.0
powetube software :19.16.0

After -

Drive unit software: 19.54.0
powertube software : 19.17.1

I'm still on 85nm torque.

My bike is 2 months old - I contacted cube and bosch a few weeks ago and they both confirmed my bike could do the 100nm update. They said to go to a dealer to do it. I heard of the rumours of the new 120 update, so decided to wait.

I waited. The update was succesful (according to the app) yet I'm still on 85nm.

The bike is a cube reaction hybrid - ive checked the cube site and they're saying it IS 120nm compatible.

So - why no update?

I read 600% up to 20mph but then 9.3mph, the app in the US says 20mph but the videos and other sources say 15kph.
Can anyone confirm

Bosch's site has both 9.3 and 20 mph listed on two different Performance 2.0 articles. Reality, it is what it is... update bike, set support to +5 in any Auto, EMTB+, Turbo, Race or Cargo modes and it should be very apparent if the assistance drops at 10 MPH.

Fuckers. How hard is it to set a date and then update everything in advance of that date? Why not just set the date to the 6th or the 8th, get all the appropriate apps updated and be ready to roll out?

This peace meal bullshit is unneeded and frustrating.

But its a good way to piss off a bunch of customers.

Its written in the app, "may require waiting 24hrs"... duh. You not watch any press-camp videos of launch? They knew it would happen. The CEO mentioned uninstalling and reinstalling the app to get it to force an update.

Sure, they could have actually rolled it out on the 4th, but told everyone it'd be the 6th or whatever.

Don't be rushed, to be disappointed.

“Genius” update.
What worked for me:
1. Appstore didnt show flow update -> reinstalled and after that got the latest 1.35.5
2. After that 19.54 bike update is available. Update it.
3. Delete and install Flow again xD -> go to components, motor, get 2.0 banner in there, install.
Finally! You get 120 nm
Bosch can do better as for me…
