I'm talking about dh trails, jumps, flicking the bike around where the motor is irrelevant.

Today I did a Tour with 30 trees ore more laying on the Trail. IT was a Nightmare!
Had to lift the bike several Times and every time I thought" weight does Matter" :LOL:

Hi all , for those who maybe a little disappointed with the range of the new sworks Or even the other 3 models , as I was , i used auto minus today , recommended by my dealer , and well happy now , did a 38 miler with 26% battery left and an estimated range left of 12 miles , that will do fo me 👍

Mileage is useless info without the ascent.
 
First ride out on my Gen 4 Comp Alloy at the weekend. Coming off a gen 3 Comp Alloy that always gave me decent range I was hoping for similar or better from the G4.

Got to be honest I'm a little disappointed.

I ride my local woods and we have a 22-24 mile loop with about 3000 ft of climbing. On the G3 I used trail with a bit of turbo toward the end and always came back with about 15-25% battery left.

On the G4 we did 24 miles and 3200ft of climbing, all in turbo and I came back with 2% battery left.

Ive posted on the Facebook Levo page and the general consensus is that I need to turn the power settings down. TO me this kind of defeats the object of having a bike with the higher power. I may aswell have kept the G3 in that case.

EDIT: Apologies the G4 ride was in trail not turbo as stated.

Turn shuttle off if it’s enabled. Then turbo down slightly to same as gen 3

Then ride the same as gen 3 which you said was 22-24 miles 3000 feet in trail and bit of turbo. It should be better than gen 3 with amount of battery left.

If your doing the same loop but all in turbo and full power it’s more power than g3 but only slightly more battery.

I’ve set my g4 up same as g3 and have 17% more battery than g3 on same trails now. If I want more power than gen 3 for a short climb I use micro tune 100/100.

So have the best of both worlds. Extra range same power or more power and slight impact of battery.

Apologies I meant to type that the G4 ride was all in trail not turbo, the same as I used on the G3.

Shuttle is off, overrun is low and responsiveness is low too.

I didnt feel that I needed to use turbo on the G4 as trail was fine.

I'll edit my post above to reflect what I meant.

Felt the same with my new s-works , I spoke to my dealer about it , he said turn eco down to 20% instead of 30%, as the new bikes 20% is the same as 30 on the old levo , also I really like the auto mode , but that was hungary, dealer suggested auto minus , and that gave me a range of 50 miles on Saturday, with just over 2k feet of climbing , plus I’ve turn shuttle off , really happy with it now

I think the issue is you are trying to compare the two bikes like they are both apples, and they are more like apples and oranges. The G4s more powerful motor uses more battery, its the simple trade off of more torque / power equals more battery usage. If it was the standard Trail mode that came with the bike then you using a ton of power. Again, don't know your ride ability / style but if you are looking for parity between the gen3&4 (range wise) your going to need to tune the power down. Good places to start, use micro / dynamic micro tune, -Auto, and custom tunes for Eco mode. But if you are riding the bike in the standard Trail mode and turbo then you are going to be hard pressed to match the mileage with the g3.
 
I have my SW GEN4 since 2 weeks and i am happy by the battery millage combo

I am 43, i good shape( racer guy ) and weight 80kg full gear

I do 80% of my elevation on technical hard trials, less i ride fire road more i am happy😅

I did 30kms for 1500D+ OLNLY in turbo, and remain less than 10% each time.

If i have to do some gmbattery gestion with microtune, i am pretty sure to do 40 or 50kms for 2000 or 2500m of elevation.

A friend of mine, same age, lighter than me, did many time 50km for 2300m of elevation.....

I have forgotten to mention that i did the same millage with my GLP3 800wh batterie and 85nm et 600w max power

So for me the gen4 is spot on !!!

See I disagree, Its got more power yes but its also got a bigger battery to compensate for that. I was at least expecting to match or slightly better the G3 range without resorting to lowering the power output.

I never had to mess wit any settings on the G3 and was always happy with the range but now being told to adjust the settings to lower the power on what is a heavier bike doesnt seem like progress.

And I actually agree with you - so now we need to adapt to this in each our own way - in my case for range anxiety, I use dynamic microtune (i.e. 10/100 , 20/100 etc)

Just think how upset the S Works riders are now, having all that extra power over a standard Gen 4 and same battery

Jokes put to one side.....The power of the Gen 4 is more than the extra battery capacity, so it will be less. Pure and simple

But you can have it both. Drop the power down to Gen 3 levels and enjoy the extra range or keep it standard and enjoy the gen 4 power

I have nearly 500 miles on mine and have done some of the following :

  • 30 ish miles and 8500 feet
  • 42 miles and 2500 feet with 20% left which the bike was saying would be another 10 miles.
  • Loads of other rides all between this

Technical climbs, fire road climbs, road, cycle lanes the lot.

All in a mixture of modes, never auto. Eco, trail is standard and turbo is 75/75. Then use micro tune for 100/100 when I need the full Gen 4 power, which isn't that often as turbo 75/75 is enough

You are 100% correct and I could waste 15-20 mins explaining technically why a bigger battery and new motor (more torque) does not equal same distance as old bike with smaller battery and lower torque motor. So disagree all you want but the laws a physics still apply! Glad to see someone else understands.

As the owner of a 2022 Turbo Vado 5.0 configured like a Tero, I'm perplexed by this new Levo.

The Specialized 2.2 motor is plenty powerful, and I would never want a little more power in exchange for more noise. Silence would always be my preference in that equation.

Also, having experience with DIY ebikes, I honestly expected more from the jump from 36V to 52V.

This really makes me wonder what is going on over at Specialized. I wonder if this platform was final for a couple years, and they had to delay to unload stagnant inventory. And I wonder how long this rev lasts before mid-gen revision.
