Rob is based in the UK so Class 3 capability probably isn't the first thing on the list to ask about. Same goes for any of the other European based journos at the press launches too. Avinox make it extremely easy to bypass speed limits with the VPN trick so not sure it's that big a deal.I’m feeling it’s odd that no review I found is saying a word about if Orbea’s tune uniquely locks out Avinox’s Class 3 capability. That absolutely would be worthy of mention guys! I think a reviewer keeping quiet about such a thing makes me question their motives. I even directly asked @Rob Rides EMTB, who must know; and crickets. It’s like people are afraid of saying something critical.
I just hope I’m just being overly cautious and the RS tune isn’t going to be a disappointment. I want it to be awesome.
As said previously I like the Avinox feel - that smooth power delivery feels natural.strange isnt it... I do believe that there has been too much of.... something... going on... rather than reporting on how all the motor systems actually work. They have been afraid, for what reason i dont understand... or maybe no one actually understood and didn't have the experience and needed myself and or a bike company to explain it to them...
As I have said numerous times, all the engineers understood exactly what I have been saying.

me too. I am a heavy rider on a PX and use ECO and Auto most of the time to squeeze Vertical Meters out of the M2S. Trail occasionally and my own „Fly“You can't make a custom mode similar to AUTO that adapts power output based on sensor data? Auto on the avinox is amazing, I barely even use the other modes.
Yes, but capped to 750 Watts.Orbea claims the RS tune uses about 25% LESS watt hours of battery juice actually.
I believe right now, based on my previous review history, i'm the only one who can honestly review this software tune and see what they have done.I’m feeling it’s odd that no review I found is saying a word about if Orbea’s tune uniquely locks out Avinox’s Class 3 capability. I'm glad you said that @Rob Rides EMTB . I thought I was losing the plot after being at a UK dealer launch recently when they told us the only way to change it to full power was to replace the motor etc with the normal non RS Avinox stuff. Good that they listened to the feedback anyway, they just need to listen to it on the subject of chainstay lengths now!I think Orbea wanted most people to use the 750w peak power and originally wanted to keep it as that. At the press camp they were limited to 750w in RS tune.
At the press camp, I mentioned that I wished the 750w and RS tune was able to be customised to 1300w. For heavier riders etc. And that 1300w is just fun in some cases. I am sure others likely mentioned the same feedback also
Last minute after the press camp, I got an email saying that 1300w was now available, with full RS tune![]()
Sorry I only just saw this? Whats the question exactly? Im in the UK, so we dont have Class 3 modes, so I didnt even think of checking it. You'll need to speak with Orbea US about that one.I’m feeling it’s odd that no review I found is saying a word about if Orbea’s tune uniquely locks out Avinox’s Class 3 capability. Yes. Its a complete custom tune on the motor, you cannot replicate it on the standard motor with any tuning in the app. The base tune on the RS Avinox is different.Has Orbea somehow accessed something special that Avinox chose not to, or is “QuickStart” just the standard Assisted Start made available in the power-limited RS mode?
Nah. Every “preview” talks about the difference in behavior of the RS tune. You’re trying to say it’s appropriate to keep quiet on the potential difference in the RS tune locking out Class 3? They need a full review to mention that? That’s ludicrous! No
No one has reviewed the bike yet, the previews are done in conjunction with Orbea.
They can talk about certain things and class3, a setting specific to one country, isn't top of the list.
In the same way the previews talk about the RS, they explain why Orbea have done it, not if it's better/worse or how it compares to others.
I doubt class3 is even worth forking the software for, unless Orbea are paying for it.
Reviews will come later.
Makes sense. Thanks.Sorry I only just saw this? Whats the question exactly? Im in the UK, so we dont have Class 3 modes, so I didnt even think of checking it. You'll need to speak with Orbea US about that one.
???I think I am going to order one or see what allotment my LBS is getting. Somewhere between the M20 and doing several upgrades or the M10 and doing a few upgrades. With either, I think I’ll run an 11 speed DI2 drivetrain. Does anyone know if and when Avinox will allow for Smoothshift with Shimano as they already do with AXS?
looks a bit dry, but it seems you're uncomfortable ridding the trail. The MX size Large wheelbase spec is loooong at 1288mm. My S4 Levo 4 in long (444mm) chainstay setting has a 1233mm wheelbase! Plus 55mm is a bit concerning for where I ride. The 73,6º seat tube is a a lot more slack than anything I've been considering too. Might need to demo a Wild before I'm ready to order.
This video from Hawes (even just the first 20 seconds) provides context for my concern about the long wheelbase.
Observant. That was only my second time on it.looks a bit dry, but it seems you're uncomfortable ridding the trail
just edit my previous post, didn't notice you already reply. have a lookObservant. That was only my second time on it.
This is really interesting.Yes. Its a complete custom tune on the motor, you cannot replicate it on the standard motor with any tuning in the app. The base tune on the RS Avinox is different.
Yes I do.This is really interesting.
Would you say, you prefer the RS tune, over the Standard Avinox Tune?
Do you know if is just a motor mapping config file or it runs a different firmware than the standard M2s?Yes. Its a complete custom tune on the motor, you cannot replicate it on the standard motor with any tuning in the app. The base tune on the RS Avinox is different.
You can run the new DI2 off it's own battery. Doesn't need to be wired to the motor. OFc you won't get the extra features that way but it will still do the normal shifting.???
You're going to run an 11 speed Di2 ?
How are you doing that with an Avinox?
Thought you currently needed a Shimano or Bosch motor for that ??
Thanks, I didn't know there was an 11s version of battery Di2. Have you got a model number ?You can run the new DI2 off it's own battery. Doesn't need to be wired to the motor. OFc you won't get the extra features that way but it will still do the normal shifting.
It’s a different programming. Software update will not come later, nor affect it in any ways.Do you know if is just a motor mapping config file or it runs a different firmware than the standard M2s?
If is a different firmware is a pita as you need to wait Orbea to release it every time. If they did it smart is 100% the same firmware with a different settings applied based on some sort of motor serial number scheme, so no need of different versions of the app and firmware.
Having custom made firmware per oem is huge mistake imo.
Hmm I assumed Shimano fallowed the same route as SRAM having the same derailleur work with it's battery or the bike power dongle/shoe but it looks like that isn't the case. My mistake. Thanks, I didn't know there was an 11s version of battery Di2. Have you got a model number ?
So if everything is interconnected ,and one thing goes wrong ,its stuffed . I would not go near that super intelligent/stupid engineeringOrbea has lifted the covers on the new 2027 Wild LT, and this is a fairly major shift for the Wild platform.
But the bigger story is probably what Orbea is trying to do with the bike as a whole. This is not just a motor swap into the existing Wild. Orbea is positioning the Wild LT as a proper long-travel, gravity-focused eMTB, taking influence from the Rallon and Rallon DH projects while moving the Wild platform into a more aggressive space.
All the Wild LT models listed in the 2027 range use the DJI Avinox M2S motor system. 1300w peak, 150Nm peak torque. And Orbea's RS tune on the motor, giving a faster startup and more aggressive power ramp at lower RPM.

Usually, it's a config part that's changed for different OEMs. I don't know in this specific case, if you want to know with certainty, you must reverse engineer the system. Marketing is marketing, engineering is engineering. First is based on story telling, second, not much so.Do you know if is just a motor mapping config file or it runs a different firmware than the standard M2s?
I have been on over 80km exploratory rides in the mountains just outside Sydney on my Amflow. The motor never left Eco-mode. And when the ground was flat. I turned the motor off.For exploration distance and ultimate altitude options, huge power makes for an unexpected overnight stay in the backcountry when the battery leaves you high and dry.
You can just go with the version without all the connected stuff if you are worried. So if everything is interconnected ,and one thing goes wrong ,its stuffed . I would not go near that super intelligent/stupid engineering
