Installed power2.0 and rode the same trails I did yesterday…I thought I would start a thread on opinions, but feel free to pick one of the multiple Bosch vs Avinox discussions to merge it with.
Running: cube 177, turbo (all the time obviously), assistance +5, dynamic -2 (we shall come back to that), 120nm, 750w.
Installing - a total faff again, uninstalling and reinstalling the flow app to get it to recognise the updates
Initial impressions starting the ride - ok, feels the same climbing up a typical fire road. Can kind of feel better assistance, but probably placebo effect.
Onto the trails - motor doesn’t give anything new here. I am typically close to or above 10mph when I need to pedal, so any 600 vs 400% is immaterial and irrelevant. In tight corners 120nm wasn't giving me anything new that I could feel. In fact the motor was still noticeably bogging down. 600% is only relevant for climbing at 5-8mph in my view, which is fine, I will take it.
After a while - I thought, “right, let’s stop listening to Bosch shills on YouTube and whack the dynamic back up to +5” (I have been using -2 dynamic to keep traction in the wet, but of course traction is better when the motor doesn’t bother to do anything). Now I get a punch out of tight corners, but I feel very little difference overall when compared to when I had it maxed out pre update.
Verdict - if you can’t update, don’t sweat it, the dynamics of the bike barely change outside of a few (curated and climbing) use cases. Largely unnoticeable in my riding vs previous. It also makes my drivetrain noisier…will see if that’s a coincidence.
Just whack everything to +5 and live with some traction challenges every now and then.
