Crestline RS 181.2 thread – builds, reviews, technical info

Just went on my 1st ride with my 181.2 Plaid Edition. This is my 6th and most favorite Crestline to date. Bike is 100% perfect. All modes including Boost mode worked as they should. I did my normal 22miles/4,200ft elevation local ride running 100% Trail mode and came home with 25% battery left. The same exact ride on my 181.1 comes back with 8%-9% battery left. I was wondering what happened to my range on my original DJI Crestline. Love the RAW Carbon color. Cable routing much improved. The MS2 motor sounds the same as my M1 motor going uphill but is dead silent going downhill. My M1 motor does have a slight rattle going downhill. The tune is a little different between the M1 and M2S motor. My only complaint is that I wish it was easier to adjust the rebound on my shock. Someone should 3d print a ittle tool or something. My wish list for the next version is a 1000wh battery and a 250wh+ bottle cage range extender. Honestly I will never use more than 100nm/1,000watts so the added power doesn't mean much to me. I would also like a Race Mode like the Bosch Race motors. Super stoked!

completely looked past that, duh, thanks.
its 8nm for the dropouts- not 15, that's double the recommended torque and too much for these small bolts.

.Also you will need to use an Allen key on the inside to secure the insert inside the dropout to keep it from spinning and to achieve proper torque. @mrtrinh @jej737

What a collection 😁

Anyone have their rh4 ridewrapped yet? Aside from the shuttle guard spot, my ridewrap guy mentioned things don't seem to be fitting great on the front triangle. He's going to send an email out to ridewrap see what the deal is.
I got one of the first rh-4 kits they made and the fit was off on the top tube by about 1”, also the head tube piece was 1/2” short.
Emailed them and they said they had made revisions since my order and sent me a whole new kit. Took them about a week but I finally got it and it fits great.

What dropper posts are you guys fitting in a RH3?
Thanks
OneUp v3 180 w Woolftooth pro remote. It’s pretty perfect (I’m 5’11 running 155 cranks. If I were running 175 cranks it would be slammed) . If travel is too long, comes with parts to shorten travel. I have a Fox Transfer and a Reverb AXS, and this OneUp is cheaper, lighter, and I like it better. With Woolftooth Remote I can easily control return speed and stop it mid travel.

Can you elaborate a little more on Raw carbon finish? I thought the Forged looked a little more unique, but seems like the raw finish looks better in person than in pics.

Onyx Classic hubs with the hooks for the BERDs, and derby rims. 35i rear, 30i front.

Wait, whaaaat? They redesigned the Classics? That looks like the Vespers. I got the Vespers with Berds and one of the eyelets popped out on my first ride.

Nobl is sending a repair kit, but I will have to sell these hubs if this keeps happening. I was 20 miles in on a mild trail ride.

I think the hook flanges dropped a week or so after my order 😭

Your bike looks great!!

Onyx Redesigned the classic hub for the hook flange version. When I received mine I was pissed because I didn't want the vesper. A quick email to Berd solved the issue. The hook flange classic now looks like a vesper but has 2 sprag clutches in them now like normal, but are lighter. Only downside is they are only available in Centerlock. So for an Avinox you must run an adapter for the speed ring.

solid burn
No bro, it’s not. Don’t be an instigator. Do I run different stuff than the norm? Yes, I do. I like my choices and they work very good for me. I don’t conform to what everyone else thinks is cool, I do what works. My shit is light and tight and it just plain rips. Anyone who thinks otherwise can suck it. P.s. I currently own 22 KOM’s and I’m an old geezer, how many do you have? Solid burn. 😂👍🏼

Having trouble with the thread search and ready to rip my hair out with this AXS cable routing. Can someone please point me to some help with this thing. Thank you in advance!

Yup! I’m doing the exact same thing. I bought a DJI light cable from Germany (2 to be safe) and I’m going to splice them together using insulted butt connectors.

Solder and shrink wrap will handle the vibration a lot better. Even if you had to ask an electronics tech to solder it for you; it wouldn't be expensive. It would take more time for the iron to heat up than do the work.

It was a joke, a rather funny one at that, and not a dick ... don't take it so hard.

Either way, I also am looking at a raised stem. Its a pricy experiment though. Going to ride with my usual 35mm stem first but with the 50mm rise one up bars this time vs my traditional 35mm rise bars and see how I feel.

Mega helpful, thank you. My guy already emailed ridewrap, so hopefully we hear the same news next week.

Im going 175
6’0” 32” inseam 155mm cranks on a RH3 with a Wolf Tooth 200mm post. It has the shortest insertion and is perfect height. A 210 one up would be a little tall and have a 15mm higher stack height. The wolf tooth could be slammed a tiny bit more -in a perfect world- but is totally acceptable for PNW steep tech gnar.

Pro tip: SQ Labs saddle will lower your seat height about 12mm over a standard seat as the rails are very close to the seating surface.
Mind that some newer SQlab saddles are higher, e.g. SQlab 6OX Ergowave active 2.1 vs 2.2 (higher and shorter)

Are any of you shorter RH2 riders using the -5 mm reach adjust headset? (it was sold out when I ordered my Forge frame)

Are any of you shorter riders going to try the BeMoreBikes Gen 2 90 mm RR (Reversed Raised) stem on your RS 181.2?

I doubt I'd feel comfortable with the taller 150 mm version that @Rob Rides EMTB is using...

I ordered one, hopefully it will be worth its $400 cost.

I’d probably wait and see how the stem feels with your stock reach before you order the -5* headset. It might feel good as is. If it still feels too long out front, then get the -5 headset. 🤷🏻‍♂️
