The Fox kit has worked best for me with this frame. The new RockShox are bearings and too large to fit the frame spacing. That is the shock hardware, exactly what I said earlier. Most people will tell you that they are all the same but I have had issues before... Order an 8x30 bushing kit to suit the shock you are going to be fitting
Best line in the article: The suspension was outstanding, borderline magic carpet, reminiscent of the Yeti LTE we rode in the recent Field Test.
VERY interesting, thanks for sharing.
Yeah, we have to take every reviewers opinion with a grain of salt and consider their preferences in relation to our personal preferences. 440cs pn a mid pivot for med and large is in the range from where im sitting.VERY interesting, thanks for sharing.
What I found the most interesting is the reviewer's opinion on the chain stay being "just right" in size L, contrary to Rob's earlier opinion.
Sign of the fact that Rob was likely on a size too small for him (as he himself suggested) and/or that CS length is indeed a matter of very personal preference![]()
he blasted up the hill at full speed....I also though the range, at under 1500m to drain an 800, was a little low.
Yeah built for monster truckinghope fortus wheels are boat anchors...
Yeah seems like a heavy build to me. Maybe the parts mix was all heavy alloy stuff? I'm sure that bike can be built to sub 24kg with a choice selection of parts.Fun review. Such a likeable bike.
56#s is no joke. I know it had a coil shock (in reality they barely weigh more than a proper air shock), DD (not DH) tires & inserts, but that's a stout gal. I guess what caught me a bit off guard was the nearly identical frame Norco VLT in the PB shootout was 49#s. Only real weight difference was the tires, inserts & fork.
I also thought the range, at under 1500m to drain an 800, was a little low. But he is a big guy on a heavy bike.

Most of the builds i’ve seen are between 23.5 and 24kgsYeah seems like a heavy build to me. Maybe the parts mix was all heavy alloy stuff? I'm sure that bike can be built to sub 24kg with a choice selection of parts.
Re the vert. If ya punching turbo laps 1500 vert is a worthy amount. I can easily burn my 600wh bosch out in less the 1000m vert going full brain melter mode.
+ another 4-500g for the inserts and maxxis dh tires are also no joke compared to conti dhYah, that's a pound/ half kg over the CB's on the Norco Sight VLT.
that's what i'm shooting at too with coil rear and intend flash frontMost of the builds i’ve seen are between 23.5 and 24kgs
To be fair Stephane looks like a unit so he probably needs all the heavy stuff and armoured tyres and wheels, he looks like a man who can and will find the limits of anything mechanicalthat's what i'm shooting at too with coil rear and intend flash front
that's what i'm shooting at too with coil rear and intend flash front
my kenevo sl is around 21kg atm, i will change a few parts though:Have you weighed your current set up and if so, list the build?
A lot of the weight in a coil shock is in the spring, so even rider weight effects the weight of the shock.
For example, my Bomber CR w/ a 500# spring weighs 771 grams. The X2 in the same size weighs 763. So, no difference really.

Ah got you. I’ve got the same and will put it to 64 which will hopefully move the FC:RC ratio a bit and be a bit more playfulsteeper, to keep the original geo with a 180 fork and increase stack
Curious to hear what Stephane says about the Velduro vs. Norco Range VLT. Same design (superficially at least), different drive systems.
Fun review. Such a likeable bike.
