Velduro Rogue 170/165 mullet Enduro with DJI

1300mm wheelbase does look long for the given reach number in size large (485mm) and head angle. According to the geo chart the front centre *should* be 860mm in large, with the 440mm chainstay.

It could be a fair bit slacker than in the geo chart suggests.

Good news is I should have one next week and will measure it all over!

Will be looking forward to your video on this. I'm coming from a large orbea wild and will be building the velduro in the exact same configuration. Keen to know the geo claims so hopefully you can put this to bed

The size Large UK Dream Build wheelbase (with a Podium fork) measures 1280mm.
Will measure the Rogue R wheelbase for you on Monday.

Perfect. Now I know I made the right choice 💪
If you don’t mind what is your height and leg inseam please?

I placed an order for a medium and I am 5’11” (180 cm) with an inseam of 31.5” (80 cm) and the sales rep for Velduro Canada and bike shop owner said I should be a medium frame. I am thinking of changing to a large. Thanks

Hi I'm also 180cm and my leg inseam is 33.5" so 85.9cm. I have ordered a large based off all other bikes I've owned previously. I've had large and xl ebikes ranging in reach from 465-495, my sweet spot seems to be around the 480 mark

I dunno if that helps at all

Well this is good news. I’d really like to get a ride characteristics comparison to the Crestline, as it and the Rogue are 2 of the only 165mm+ bikes that are likely to be available in Canada anytime soon.

Updated my order to a large. Been stressing about sizing since i ordered it. (178cm)
Im sure both M & L would be fine with advantages and disadvantages on different trails. But without being able to test sizes back to back at the places i ride it feels safer to stick with my current bike geometry rather than following the size guide.
Had the geo chart been accurate I would have originally ordered the large without a second thought.
I mostly ride bikeparks and plow rather than pop. Prefer stability rather than jibbing around.
Ive always thought my ksl s4 (which specialized suggest from 173cm to 188cm) with a powerful motor would be the perfect ebike and the large rogue is essentially identical in geo.

Thanks for chiming in Mars 2, l have a Norco Range with same reach numbers as your Strive and l use a 40.0 stem. CS is 440.... what l have been wondering on with the Small Rogue is the effect on cs growth possibly to 450mm....

My preferred body position is back then close to centre and l am wondering on the size small with the CS growth.... this may shift me towards the front of the bike..... l do run the bergtec 50mm riser bars that could still sit me up and back....

Thoughts of going to a medium Rogue may hinder partly for agility a bit too much bike amongst other betterments for bike handling....
Keep in mind that the Rogue is really more medium-high pivot bike with clear Horst link design with longer instant center than other hi-pivot bikes out there. My guess is that WB growth will not be as pronounced with this bike and techniques to needed to ride it will more forgiving than the other HP bikes in the wild. You are definitely on a the right track with the 50mm riser (I will do the same with a PNW) - it really opens up more control (especially if the seat angle approaches 80 degrees) on a smaller size if you are stuck in the middle.
The pace is ripping on..... feeling the Rogue buzz but yet to smash the button.... being 5"7 - 170cm anyone here ordered a size Small ?
Cheers!

I'm 167cm and I ordered the small awhile back. I'm coming from a K1 Pole Sonni with mixed wheels and really like the geometry for my person (markedly more so than the K1 Voima which I had earlier). In comparison, the Rogue Small is longer in reach but shorter in wheelbase, same stack, and probably similar in rear center at sag. But the Medium Rogue is even longer in WB and with even a more stretched out reach. A medium would have had me more stretched out. And Pole EMTBs are known to have long wheelbases to begin with, and so I'm already used to longer WBs, but the medium is pushing beyond even that for me with my K1. I feel the 450 rear-center is just right for the hi-pivot small, but a 445 would better suit a medium if it was available.

When does your new rig arrive? Currently on a gen1 KSL, which I love, but patients are wearing thin on my entirely 100nm+ ride group.

I’ve tried various 160mm+ FP bikes (Norco, Rocky, YT, Kenevo, Trek, Yeti), but with the exception if the Yeti, they tend to feel like a shopping cart. Very curious about a comparison.

Back at you. Other Enduro long-travel high pivots:

Also, would be nice to see Rogue's non-progressive setting axle path graphs.
back at me what? you claimed something untrue, i showed you the correct graph…

re: progressive axle path: should be the same, the shock gets driven differently through the shock link as the bottom of the shock mount is at a different position, but it doesn’t change the position of the chainstay/seatstay pivots, unlike when you put the flipchip on the other position when switching to a mullet setup, which results in a different axle path

Dude, read the room before you call BS, and not just with my post. Clearly, I was saying that Rogue WB growth is not as pronounced as with other HP bikes comparatively; not in absolute terms - it's got an idler after all. At sag the Rogue 29 is like only 2.5mm more than a Mondraker Superfoxy at sag, and that's not even an HP bike. And the Rogue at twice sag is still under a centimeter.

This tells me this bike will be more forgiving for those transitioning from non-HP rigs, and may not be as critical to factor into sizing choices, which is what the thrust of my reply was about to mart-e. But hey, this is just speculation on my part and if I recall, you did test ride a Rogue, so you are in a better position to assess this anecdotally. Did you find the Rogue approachable ride-wise compared to other HPs you've tested? Did you clearly feel WB lengthening when compressing into hard turns where you had to compensate COG or steerage when exiting? If you had a dial with max setting at monster HP at one end and min setting at subtle zero growth Horst Link rigs, where would you set the dial based on your ride?

Regarding non-progressive axle path, agree with you for this bike. Most likely those curves completely overlap the progressive ones, hence only 2 curves can be seen.

Hey slickrock thank you for sharing with the size Rogue you have chosen, l am feeling more humble to this small size frame..... Id have to admit l need to become more adept in the tech of suspension curve chart department.... It can send me over the bars on a front wheel drift.... but can generally take the drift to counter steer back on line....

Correct me if this is wrong.... l somewhat sense the Rogue a mid high pivot 4 bar, to riding characteristics from the sag point weighs up from the mid stroke support, keeping on that 4 bar emphasis platform of sag growth, while utilising the mid high pivot taking off square edge chatter....

Are all size' s wheel base Minus 20mm compare to spec sheet?
S,M,L... ?
I ran all sizes through the calculator on the previous page for wheelbase if it helps anyone with sizing.
Obviously use at your own risk & check.

Agreed. At sag, the rear-center is closer to 450mm if you are going with MX and that's going to work with the more longish WB of the bike. The forward IC of the Horst Link will keep things more conventional under smaller undulations. Then the HP aspects starts to break out as it goes deeper stroke.

What interesting though, is 5mm path difference between MX and 29, which means the MX will have a more HP personality when the dynamics kick in. When more reviews start coming with the bike, folks should take heed of the bike's configuration on test, or preferrably, if both were tested. I think this bike is too interesting not to test both, which is my eventual intention.

The MX would be how l were to roll, l am interested to what your findings say to MX the closer wheel path in having positioned in effect towards a HP in personality.... l could find this appealing and for what its worth in saying it be great to demo a few options and sizes....Thanks slickrock.....
