2026 Giant Reign E+ Megathread

Can't help but think that the best buy will be the +2 on special - probably around NZ$10k - then throw another 5k or 6k at it to put decent wheels, brakes and gearset on it. Maybe upgrade the fork internals and a decent coil on the back....

Also wondering why, if lightweight downhill is the focus, it doesnt already come with a coil shock - guess air is just easier....

Saying coil is better than air is a sweeping statement. Air is popper, easier to fine tune and the new versions of air shocks are very good. Vivid air for instance. Ive gone back from coil to air on my dh bike. Each has their benefits but it's a very personal choice.

Probably because you can set the air shock for different rider(s) weight whereas you need different springs for that on a coil. Imagine trying to sell that to the masses.

I agree with both the above posts but haven't Giant said they are essentially making a DH bike that can be ridden uphill?
Plenty of DH bikes comes with air shocks. Not sure where you are getting the idea that DH bikes only use coils?

E+1 is still the best value in my opinion as there's pretty much nothing to upgrade. I would only swap the rear shock for an X2 Performance Elite to match the front fork, but it's not an urgent upgrade.

Great value if you're able to live with the 560WH and keep the bike for a long time as the resale value will most likely be ugly on this bike.

E+2 build bad fork (small bump sensitivity is so bad on Rockshox Select level suspensions), below average wheelset, old gen Shimano brakes, cheap rotors and the Deore drivetrain is a great budget performer, but it's not on the performance level of Eagle 90 or Shimano LinkGlide stuff for eMTBs.

Also, one of the design aims of the new bike was to save some weight. A coil shock is going to add a big chunk of extra weight over an air shock.

Still can't believe they announce the bike then no stock in the UK for 4 months! Seems very odd

Canada is fully stocked of E+2 only, some dealers received a first batch of E+1 and E+0 in very limited quantities and almost all bikes are sold already.

I'm not sure about Europe, but in Canada Giant are stuck with a lot of 22-23-24 MY eMTBs, the COVID pain is not over yet. These Trance X E+ and Elite models with the 400wh battery are just not selling, some 23-24 Reign E+ still left in the mix too.

My guess is that they're playing it safe here.

I had a quick check on availability for the new Reign (in the UK) yesterday at work. It varies between different models and sizes but it looks like most will be available from early 2026 (so January/February onwards). The timing of availability of stock does change sometimes (both forward and backward) but that's what Giant are saying at the moment.

Same in Europe!
No bikes in Stock here in Austria, Dealer said 5-9 Weeks.

My issue was the Battery size of its a DH focussed e-bike then you need to get to the top as easily as possible for me that’s sport/turbo and you need to do it over and over it’s basically your uplift, ok battery is easily changed when they eventually get stock in but unfortunately it was let down a 750-800 battery would have added 1kg IMO big mistake and for the first time in forever I have bought another brand it’s a shame so wanted this to be something slightly different

Everyones different. To me I would prefer they make a lighter bike. I get a spare battery than that's nearly 1200wh of battery. Seems the best of both worlds. Light bike but loads of battery power as well

I ended up with a Levo and 2 840 batteries 🤣 it’s the Ali version so not light, but that’s not a problem and so much more nimble than the old reign which was the biggest surprise

Yeah, that's a very different bike to the new reign. Much heavier. Plus I don't know anyone with a specialized that hasn't needed a new motor or battery

I had to rebuild the motor on my 2022 reign because the bearings were bad. I’ve heard the specialized motors usually have belt issues, but any motor issue sucks

My 2022 Reign motor died first ride - very low serial number tho. Replacement motors benn good for 4000k so far.

About to replace it but not with another Reign. Spec and cost doesn't work for me.

What's everyone's thoughts on software part(app) of the new Reign E? Does someone have some more insight into the available functions. Are the motor setup options basically the same or does it come with any new functionality(freeshift, overrun, chain protection) like other brands have. I am mostly interested if there will be a possibility to set overrun as I feel this is something the Giant motor is missing.

yes, new features are implemented: E-lock, and bike tracking by IOS find my.
Motor tune adjust is the same as previous version: Assist %, torque and launch control.
overrun not possible to set-up.

For this bike you can also set the fields and screens for bike display Ride Control Lux, and set the tyre checker.
